  1. Great entry DG! I really like the border and the use of sand green bricks for a mossy/lichen feel. Lots of activity with your inhabitants. I am eager to hear what will result from the actions of the one.
  2. I really like the story - a nice glimpse into Nocturnal life!
  3. The weapons seem to be hit or miss for me. I bought a variety of medieval weapons and helmets a few years back, but they just didn't look/scale right with other Lego weapons/figures. I decided to try again with BrickForge's Star Wars blasters, and I am much happier with these
  4. This can't be any worse than Episode 1 or the Clone Wars series. George Lucas did a horrendous job with the prequels, while Disney has had a track record of high quality films (Pixar, Marvel). There is no reason to think that Disney is not up to the task. Remember though, noone is expecting another original trilogy. As long as they don't throw out the EU, this has huge potential.
  5. Love it! Especially the tongue sticking out!
  6. I think the fortune teller could be one of the coolest figs if it is of the medieval/rennaisance era. Either way, it should come with a crystal ball similar to the technic balls inblack, which would be quite useful for orbs, lights .... crystal balls. I almost bricklinked POTC mermaids this weekend. Whew!
  7. I have to say that this does look about right, even if the names are off. The judge and ceasar would lead credence to this list IMO, since ceasar is in the concept art, and the new knight would offset the Evil Knight in S8.
  8. That's great to hear! My brother had a bulging disc as well and he had back problems and trouble walking until the doctors figured out what was wrong. I hope are able to get time to finish your entry.
  9. Lego is definitely trying to make more money off battlepacks. I would think that the Mandalorian and Assassin Droid BPs were very poor sellers for TLG (The assassin droid BP in particular has got to be the worst BP Ever! Absolutely no mass-purchase appeal, since almost no AFOL is going to amass an army of assassin droids) and they have learned their lesson. By combining opposing forces into one BP, they can market figures that aren't quite as appealing. I would say that TLG would have a much harder time selling 4 Endor troopers than it does 2 Endors, a Scout and a Stormie. I also think the TOR BP for next year is far more appealing as a single BP. This of course is resulting in my having to purchase 16 Endor BPs instead of 8 BPs in order to get my 32 Endor Troopers. I found the Stormie BP, the Hoth Rebel BP and the Hoth BP to all be tolerable since they included 2 or 3 of the figure you wanted, with the remaining figures being decently useful within their faction. The BP I feel is worthless is the Clone Trooper BP from 2011. 2 Bomb Squad Troopers? What a useless figure to supply 2 of! I would question even one of these being in a battle pack. I would say that the move to opposing forces in BPs makes sense for TLG, even though it means having to shell out a bit more for figs. I would rather pay a little more than not get the figure in a BP at all.
  10. It can be very hard to maintain a constant presence on these boards for more than a year. The guild leaders have school, work, travel... they cannot be on here constantly. It is very easy to be very attentive for a couple of months, but everyone has a life outside of Historica that takes precedence. Despite this, the guild leaders have still been holding and judging contests, and providing prizes at their own expense. There are always lulls in the forums, but you need to have a little patience.
  11. The EB policy has always been to take down any unauthorized contests, but GoH had been somewhat lax on this given the format. As Z already said, There have been some contest issues because of this, so this policy will be strictly enforced from here on out.
  12. Wow. The new box art is spectacular...... that's about it. What a disappointment! I already knew I would be getting the Rancor Pit, and it looks like that's it. - No General Solo with the A-Wing!??? What's the point of throwing a Star Wars/Empire Han in a Return set? This has got to be one of the worst figure placements I've seen. - I was looking forward to the Z-95, but that thing looks nothing like it. It may be the CW version, but it is definitely not what the original Z-95 looked like - 2 battle packs I don't have to buy any of, I already knew that coming in and it will be a relief to my wallet - AT-RT is GIANT, and in no way scaled. I think it looks great, if only it were 2/3 the size. - The Umbaran vehicle is one thing that looks kind of cool and original, plus it comes with new non-unique troopers - the one bright spot in this line up (other than the amazing Rancor Pit that is) Perhaps the most dissapointing SW wave I've seen - irrelevant sets to my OT world, and a poor selection of new figures (OT/Sith Troopers, Umbaran Trooper and Pong Krell... oh, and some recolors on CW troopers). I might have felt differently had I not known the Rancor Pit was coming, but still - 1 set out of 6 that I'm going to purchase? That's probably an all time low.
  13. This is an excellent replication! I love seeing historically accurate builds like this. Great MOC!
  14. Beautiful MOC! I love the use of the Autumn colors, I love the river with the steep banks, and you've done a really nice job with the building. Excellent job! PS - Thanks much for including the link to the store, I'm going to have to pick some of these up.
  15. Hasbro has a chokehold on Star Wars minifigure sets. That's why they have to be in "Battle packs". I'm thinking that may be a reason the magnets have to be glued too. So no chance of a CSWMF series. I would not expect to see any other .5 sets myself.
  16. I would guess that the key strategy is to get you to buy more sets. Lego has been known to place characters in random sets (Queen Amidala in the Gungan Sub) just to get you to buy a set you might pass on otherwise. A perfect demonstration of key figure placement is the Avengers sets. I am looking to get all the Avengers, but I could care less about the sets. Hulk only comes in the $50 set, and Black Widow only comes in the $70 set, and Captain America only comes in a $15 set, so that's $135 for all of them. Even if I bought one bigger sets and the Captain America set, and then Bricklinked Hulk or Widow, I would still need to pick up Hawkeye's Truck to get Iron Man or Hawkeye, It would have made more sense (from my logical stand point) to include all of the characters in the 2 big sets, but this keeps you buying more sets.
  17. I do most of my browsing on my phone, and I'm still getting used to the new format, but I haven't been able to reply via my phone, so that keeps me from commenting much. As of today, I can start replying, so that should help a bit. Also, I've been really busy with work and family for the last couple of weeks, so that's kept me from building. Hopefully soon though... - It is REALLY nice that I'm automatically taken to the last post on a thread - big plus to the new formus
  18. Thanks for the Challenge SoT! It definitely helped burn some of the time until Challenge V. (It always seems like the deadlines are "forever away.." until they become "way too soon!")
  19. I'm not trying to put anyone on the spot here, nor disputing MikeyB's entry as the winner - I think he had a great entry. My thought was "I wonder which other entries the guild leaders thought were good enough to consider." I therefore rescind my request. Also, my discussion on originality was that you Z, had interpreted it differently than I had, so there could be a variety of interpretation on this.
  20. I'm not looking for scores, I am wondering what other builds the guild leaders thought were the best. The public voting system is nice because you can see what everyone likes, but I am very curious to see the thoughts of the guild leaders - All of whom have amazing building skills. I don't believe we saw votes from them on the last 2 challenges (I could be wrong though) and especially since there was some disagreement, and they created the original guilds themselves, I would be very curious to see their thoughts on the entries. On a side note, I can see there was some varying interpretation on the guidelines for this challenge. i will speak on originality as an example. One of my goals for this build (and others from what I've read) was to incorporate lego themes that are not heavily incorporated into the existing guilds but are also not hard to come by easily - hence the wealth of orient-oriented guilds (MikeyB incorporated CMF S8 heavily, which is extremely accessible right now, and I think is a huge perk for his guild choice). Originality could be varying from the existing guilds, varying from other entries, varying from the expected (Gabe's pig-men)... lots of possible interpretations.
  21. I also would like to know which other entries the Guild Leaders were considering, it's always nice to see who was in contention. Also, I had thought this was less of a build-focused contest (40-50%) but from what Z's saying, it sounds like this was in fact more build oriented? - or is that just Z's favorites?
  22. Excellent MOC! I love how the house is built into the hill, and looks closer to a hovel than a homestead. I also like the use of the hammer to nail up the sign and the use of the round plate to make the father taller. Very nice overall scenery as well. Great job!
  23. This is just stunning. I am blown away by your topography - I love the way the wall rises to the gates, and one of your towers is on a hill. This is a work of art!
  24. That is fantastic! I have been seeing all the intricate segments, but I didn't realize you were keeping them all built. I would love to see this in person. Brickworld 2013?
