Warzone 11:The Battle for Cresentthorn’s Favor
robuko replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
My entry for The Desert King -
The great contest was held at the sacred grove of Dragonstone. Dragon or stone, only the elves knew, but they had tended the site fro hundreds of years and it was said that certain rare herbs could be obtained nowhere else. Eventually, having vanquished many challengers, the two greatest warriors entered the temple. They were weary but everything was at stake. Blows rained down but the fighters were skilled and well matched, agility against strength. Suddenly, the High Council fighter slipped on a patch of moss, and it was all over. "Enough!". Crescentthorn raised his hand, "Grant you mercy here. You have both fought well, and one is now overmatched by the other. By the Dragonstone I bestow my favour on thee, Anjar, champion of the Desert King. Now go, and make peace." If I win the next warzone is I15

The straggling remnants of the 13th legion were limping away from their last positions in the North West, hoping to take cover in the arroyo. "Wait!" said the commander, "Do you hear that?" "No, what?" replied his legionary "Exactly, nothing! It's too quie.....aaargh" "Tell my wife I love her very much" "She knows....but I don't think I'll be around to tell her, old friend" The King would be pleased. The arrows found their mark. The patrolmen had done a good job. If they had been remotely capable of compassion, they would have shed a tear for the last Salamander. But they weren't. And in that part of Kaliphlin, the Keepers of the Peace do not talk of shooting fish in a barrel, they talk of shooting salamanders in a canyon.

I can understand what you mean Bregir. Maxim had a similar situation with Disco's attack on Everlast. My feeling is that most people do vote for the nicest looking build but a substantial minority vote for the most effective. And. .. rhinos are awesome. Jacob had a rhino. -
Purchase advice - 8043 and 8110
robuko replied to rynoster's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think you might as well wait for the new Arocs truck, it will have better pneumatics than 8110 and it might work out cheaper for you. For 8043, upload your collection to rebrickable and have a look how many pieces you are missing. I think you will be best off to just buy the pieces you are missing via bricklink. -
We choose H14 for the Decisive square and I14 for the overwhelming square.

It's Lauren Bacall in both these shots, but you're right on Bogie.

Here we go This was posted on April 5th and was intended for last week, it's already been left over for one week I believe at Ulundus request.

I do like your reviews, and I pretty much agree with them although I liked Boyhood more I have just caught up with: Boyhood Boy grows up, his life changes a bit here and there, not that much happens. Interestingly the significant plot events often take place off camera. What I really liked was that after 2 hours you think what happened to everyone's life? He's all grown up and gone to college in just 2 hours. Which is what it feels like in real life. So, a good reminder to enjoy your children. People either like this film a lot or don;t like it at all, I think if you have children you are probably going to like it and if you don't, you won't. 9/10 Predestination Ethan Hawke again, with another mustache. Surely this must be fate. Interestingly paced paradox concept film, great performance from Sarah Snook. 6/10 Interstellar I don't really know what to make of this, the story is well told and beautifully shot, but I don't know what the point of it was. Optimism? Pessimism? Fate? Curvy landscapes? I saw the big plot twist coming a mile away. Good performance from Matthew McConaughey, and I can totally understand why audiences got nausea from watching the space scenes, which were wonderfully done. 6/10 The Royal Tenebaums I really don't know what the point of this was. Archetypal Wes Anderson whimsy with a spectacular cast, but they are not used that well. Not particularly charming, witty or nicely made compared to his other films. I kept waiting for it to get good. Limited character development. 3/10 Funny Face Audrey Hepburn vehicle featuring an entirely unlikely romance with a very much older Fred Astaire while on a travelogue of Paris. Nicely made, entertaining, my son really liked the songs. 7/10. Theory of Everything Young Stephen Hawking being very funny and brilliant and then suffering a terrible disease. Deeply moving and it increased my respect for him even more (I went to Cambridge to study mathematics, but changed to something easier). I am not sure how accurate it is, but it's an amazing story. Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones were fantastic, David Thewlis seemed to be playing Professor Lupin again. 9/10

Warzone 7: The Second Battle of Queenscross
robuko replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
So far, as long as the stud count remains the same or less eg 32x32 is 1024 studs, 48x16 is 768 so that would be well inside the size limit. You could go all the way to 48x21- 18 replies

I think my keeping the peace guerrilla was moved from last week to this week? Can't find it on my phone.

Well, you encouraged the other 2 sides to join against the DK in one warzone, you posted a poll on how to rebalance the game away from the DK, and now you have chosen warzones such that the DK is in a position where they could suddenly lose a huge proportion of their points. What do you think it looks like? I thought Ulandus chose WZ13 last week for their well deserved victory not Qarkyr. Don't get me wrong, I think the story telling and set up is fantastic, and I like the multiple squares consequence battles. I am just :/ on this one because it's massively assymetric against the DK When they should be having the upper hand. I hope you are planning something equivalent for the other sides. I know that you are putting in a massive amount of work into this and the Bobs project, and all we do is complain instead of saying thank you, so thank you! ! For the WZ5 extra Square, is it any of the squares around I10? I am confused because I thought I saw a different set of squares.

Ska, I thought the idea was that the challenge winners get to call the warzones? I realise you want to support both other sides against the DK, but challenge 13 and 14 could see the DK lose 7 points but gain only 1?. Not the sort of battles we would choose. It is quite demotivating to have the GM playing against one side. For the overwhelming victory in challenge 2 we chose H13 which was the only square not under attack at that time.
