For the Desert King
-
In the marketplaces of Amrakect, under the noses of the high council guardsman... A very interesting rumour was sweeping the traders. It came in a few different flavours. One version was that Lady Phantomhive's archaeological excavations had been successful, and she herself had awakened the Desert King. That surely meant the loyalists of the town should support the King. They were surrounded anyway. Another version was that she was at the King's side, a kind of a tour guide, giving him advice about the geography of modern Kaliphlin, and she would be back soon. Amrakect might even be the King's new capital! Yet another rumour was that she was already back, incognito, and working as a spy for the King amongst the common folk to take the temperature of the land. Were they weary of this war already, weary enough to eject the Ulandian murderers and usurpers? Nobody knew where they first heard these rumours, but everybody knew them. Some of the traders particularly remembered talking to a pretty blonde lady in a kimono about it. Others recalled a familiar looking man in a very anachronistic headpiece. This build is a tribute to Eryn's Amrakect marketplace, I have incorporated her techniques for the walls, the building on the left, the stall roofs, the flags and the golden roof, and filled it with her level of activity and detail.

[WZ15: E12, HC] Amrakect Bloodbath
robuko replied to Jakorin Swiftsword's topic in Guilds of Historica
Really nice build and as usual first class presentation. You have really captured the textures of Amrakect well. You do know that the DK advocates the return of Esterbroke to Avalonia and is pro-Avalonia? His majesty will treat any lords who turn to his cause with honour, it's not too late. -
Thanks Blufiji, the arch was going to be in Petraea but it would have confined me to a big flat space in front of it so I used it here. Thanks for your Kind words ME! Thanks Dr Cogg, glad you like it merci! Thanks LJ. Yes, it's truly monumental. I worked off the arch of Septimus Severus in Rome for the proportions, those gates really are big. Thanks Captain Dee, you have great dress sense I am happy mixing fleshies and yellows, it's a big world Thanks Kai, I really love sand green with anything Thanks Andrew Thanks Jacob. The djinns were a last minute addition when I realised I didn't have enough blank parts for statues, but I like it too Thanks! Thanks Goliath, you actually inspired this with your discussion about the lack of classical architecture in Kaliphlin Thanks Balbo. There is not that much technique here to be honest, only the base of the columns was tricky with a lot of half stud offsets. Thanks Asphalt, I really wanted to get the colours working together for this and I'm glad you noticed Thankyou! Thanks LV, yes I have all the mummies I think. Even a couple of mummified sabre tooth Leander Many thanks to Ecc for the front page! Thanks redtrooper! Thanks mrcp6d, I do try to challenge myself to learn something new with each build, hopefully it all adds up a bit over time. This time my new stuff was the snot panels. the brick pattern, and the hinge arch. And having some of my photos in focus for once! Thanks Graham! Thanks Captain Braunsfeld, it's about as big as possible for this floorplate! Thanks Andy, borrow away, it's all yours Thanks very much for the compliment Gunman! Thanks very much Dan!

Bravo! -
Great transforming wagon, and a rather disturbing story!
-
Very clever! I wish there was more to your GAs than a bunch of helmets that nobody else has, that's the third one in a row....

Baron Munchausen?

Thanks guys, I have to give credit to LordDan for the micro idea, and I tried to apply Captain Braunsfeld's sandscaping techniques, with limited success here. This was a hard challenge to get on the baseplate restriction, so micro seemed like the easy way out

[WZ9:G7 Desert King] Bloody Lane Stand-off

Very nicely done. Your builds somehow always look totally studless, even when they are not. The road is great. -
[WZ9: G7 - HC] Cavalry Charge on the Oil Road
robuko replied to mrcp6d's topic in Guilds of Historica
Good idea to build the road transverse to the layout. Your photography and lighting are very good as usual, it really makes the details and colours stand out. -
Really funny, and a very nice build too. That sweating face is so apt!

Book II, Chal IV - Kaliphlin Civil War (Results Posted)
robuko replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
The points for GAs and CGs are massively higher than the points for competing in warzones, and the odds of victory are dramatically higher. Players who care about points will focus on these. The GA system is far too powerful.- 272 replies

Very nice texture. Your use of neutral colors under the wall plates is very nice.

Great parable and a nice vig, Kai. Such a pity that's it's all a pack of lies... H9 is a Ulandus square that you won for the WZ4, so feel free to attack your own square....

Very nice texturing all round, really getting into the feel of the zone.

Thanks LJ, yes it is based on your design. My reasoning was, Aymeri is the lord of Katoren, I thought that chibi design would look good in micro, and more importantly it didn't need any micro animals Imitation is flattery. I built it too tall though, it looks good on its own but it's too tall for the landscape. This build looks really different to the human eye compared to a camera, so I learned quite a bit from it.

This is a brilliant build, one of your best so far. First class finishing and posing, and beautiful detailing. -
Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
robuko replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
So Goliath, remember when you were asking about neoclassical buildings in Kaliphlin? That's what gave me the idea for my Thieves in the Temple and Kings of Queenscross builds.
