The Storehouse of Cochenheim
Admiral Croissant replied to Captain Blackmoor's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Nice job It looks very realistic with all those details and different techniques. I especially like the work around the windows. I also like the crane system thing with the chains. It adds a lot to the storehouse-feeling (just like all the krates and barrels). -
MOC: Rooftop Final Stand
Admiral Croissant replied to Sirens-of-Titan's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I think almost everything has been said about this MOC already. I agree with the others that the roof technique is nice and although I can't see how the dragon is made, it seems quite clever The only small 'bad' point I could see here is that the parrots on the walls seem to be in a bit of strange position. -
OT: Blackbeard's sword has been found.
Admiral Croissant replied to gotoAndLego's topic in LEGO Pirates
That's good news. Although it could have been from any sailor on the QAR. It's still an interesting object. This would make a nice guard for swords in the new POTC-line IMO. Well, the blade is quite thin so I think it declined. The handle was made of wood so that's declined as well. Unfortunately the water isn't as good for a ship as the Baltic sea was to the Vasa... Anyway, let's keep talking about the LEGO QAR in the future -
Good work The balcony looks very nice. But somehow it looks a bit chaotic. There are some yellow bricks and decorations between all the blue but they don't look very harmonious. Decorations are very nice, but it may look better if you place them in a certain order. Perhaps something like this: You could compare it the unedited picture and decide what you like best. Good luck

FINAL FANTASY LEGO: Crystal Hearts
Admiral Croissant replied to Sandy's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
Nice job. I enjoyed reading it again. I liked the part where the bunny throws a carrot at Brisigne -
Ok here you go I'm also missing Santa a bit, but on the other hand the focus is more on the MOC now and that isn't a bad thing. With those skeleton parts and dragon wings it looks a little scary, but it's still an excellent MOC. I especially like the back structure. It looks very nice and fluently with the hose (?) and those tusks.

WIP: Achille and Guerrière, French Frigates of 28 guns
Admiral Croissant replied to BrickPerfection's topic in Pirate MOCs
Agreed. I nominated the ship because I though it was one of the best frigates even though it wasn't finished yet. But indeed for the voting, when you only see that one picture (and most people don't look further) it doesn't do justice to the ship. It's not a very big problem though. Because the competition was quite succesvol we will probably do another one in the future. On to the ship The rigging just looks perfect to me. I may have asked it before, but does it also get studding sails? It does have the yards for it and will look extra impressive (a lot of work though). My only small complaint is that the flying jib seems too large compared to most frigates (and to the other sails). But perhaps you have evidence or a reason that supports it your way? Anyway, that's just a small point, and I think most people won't notice. It certainly doesn't look bad. I won't blog it right now. You said it will probably be finished soon so then you can expect a well-deserved frontpage article -
As a start, what a fantastic stern! It looks a little like this one, but much better. The stern chaser hatches look great. I like the small open part in the middle, and all the gold pieces (especially the parts between the windows). Your lantern design is also excellent I agree with the inventor about the Gold circles looking a bit chaotic though. And I suppose the black part below the stern will be tiled in the future? Then I think everything is going great on this ship. Keep it up! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]

You made some very good progress The curve in the gunline and the colours look excellent. The brown decks look great as well. Can't wait to see that finished with a bell, some lattice works and cleats at the bottom of the masts. Possible improvements: The gunport most in the front is suddenly placed lower than the other gunports at a point where it should be higher, and I'm not very fond of the black line there. I would also remove the blue gunport things on the poop deck, and change the furniture in the captains cabin into brown. It's too yellow now IMO. Finally, you could perhaps change the grey headlight bricks in your (beatifully designed) cannons into black ones. And the stern is great and it's clever how you gave it an interior with CGH's hinge technique. Keep it up! It's becoming a very nice frigate!

Looks excellent. I recently tried to paint a minifig (as you know) but it's very hard to do it accurate. But yours looks excellent The lines are not perfectly straight, but they never are when someones wearing it. I think the belt could be a bit more of the same width everywhere but outside of that you did a very good job. But if you want an entire army of this, it may cost too much time to paint it all

Please don't bump an old thread just to say 'awesome'. That doesn't really add anything to the conversation. You can bump old threads if you have something important to say, but otherwise please don't do so. You're still a new member so we don't make a big problem of it. Just try to avoid these things in the future

MOC: Milouuu, where are youuu?
Admiral Croissant replied to marcosbessa's topic in Special LEGO Themes
He's called 'Bobbie' in Holland Excellent work, but to help you in the contest, you could also change the ears a little. On this image, the ears are curved backwards a little while yours are pointed forward: That's probably quite easy to fix. Good luck in the contest! -
That's some good progress you've made It's still a little bit boxy. Maybe you can make the stern and side galleries a bit more round. You could take a look at other builders and Mr. Phes his information. The colourscheme is nice and I really like the tan decks and red cannons. The decks are also good, but you could improve it. The lattice works with the sloops is usually between main and fore mast instead of between main and mizzen. There's also one stairway on the ship which is placed a bit too far too one side IMO. Right in the middle will look better. Looking a but more closely at the real ship will probably be very helpful for things like that. Goo work on the crow's nests by the way. The fences are a great detail. Perhaps they are too large but that makes it also more playful. Good luck, Keep it up!

Thanks for the comments! They are very useful since I'm planning to make more custom minifigs in the future. Ok. I've just tried PVC and it works excellent indeed, thanks for the tip. I hope the paint will work good on it. I'll try the nail polish too in the future. It's slightly bigger than the original ones. Maybe I'll try to combine the front of a tricorne with the back of a bicorne in the future. It might just give the same effect..but better. Well I just read the last book of Hornblower so it was one of the reasons I tried this. The badge may be a good idea as well. Something like this perhaps: Good that you like it. It's still an early attempt but a very informative one. Maybe TLG is making a better hat too for the POTC line. That would be great. A cutlass.. I knew I was forgetting something! The ponytail is just made of sculpy. I hope so! I'm planning to make the crew from Master and Commander, but first I need to get some skills
-
I could have posted this one in the custom minifigs forum, but it will suit this forum as well, so I'll post it here. As you can see, it's a British Captain (1795-1812): I made it by painting a torso. Then I made a uniform out of paper and painted that as well. And finally the hat, made out of sculpy. I'm quite satisfied with the result, but it's not perfect yet. I think the hat is too large and I need to work a little on the uniform. Reference: Click here. And does anyone know a better way to make the uniform? Paper tears to easy when you try to add the arms. Perhaps cloth? Anyway, C&C welcome

Nice vignette I like the desks and the bookcase. The SNOT floor is nice as well though it seems to be only checkered in the middle. It would look better if you also did that on the sides but maybe you didn't have the bricks for it.

Review: 6082 Fire Breathing Fortress
Admiral Croissant replied to ZO6's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This isn't a bad set indeed. A jail and a trap door are 2 great features in a castle. I believe almost every big castle has a jail. The dragon head doesn't work perfectly, and it is a bit skinny attached to the castle, but the head itself looks like a nice thing to build. Thanks for the review! -
The Penguin's Castle Minifigures..... )
Admiral Croissant replied to The Penguin's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Nice job I especially like the unicorn, good to have an animal between all the minifigures. The other ones look excellent as well but Queen Ironfist may be a bit too slim for a normal torso. But on a normal torso, I think this is the best one could do. -
It would be quite a discovery if they would find this in real! Excellent MOC. The whale really looks massive with the tiny divers around it. Good work on the ribs and skull. The small volcano-things around it look good as well and the camera effects are excellent
-
They look excellent! Good work on the hairpieces and shields. Perhaps giving them all faces wouldn't be a bad idea though (but quite hard to do). The faces are a rather interesting part of this army. Aren't they all different and said to be made after the real soldiers? Good job anyway.

Beautiful! Definitely worth the frontpage Amazingly realistic and detailed. I especially like the part in the front, looks very complex. And I like the size
-
Excellent! The lava part must have been a lot of work with all those cheeses. It turned out very realistic. Also good work on the water transition. I also like the fact that there are so may animals. They give it a realistic feeling too. and of course the islanders are nice as well They were just eating one of their last pigs. Just on time

You can add more pictures by deeplinking them. Here's a tutorial. Sounds promising. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures.
