  1. Lots of complaints, that is what is needed... if you want B&P to go away forever that is. What about cutting LEGO some slack? I love B&P because of the low shipping costs and wide selection of parts. It would be a huge loss if it was closed. Most of the time B&P turns out cheaper than Bricklink for me since I'm not ordering huge quantities of parts.
  2. Looks like the Ghost is back now (at least in the Norwegian shop).
  3. Yeah, that helmet is... something else. Hopefully it will look better when we get better pictures.
  4. Will be interesting to see how quickly it sells. For me the new UCS Falcon certainly had a bigger draw, but even then I didn't rush out to buy it (not that I could anyway, with no LEGO stores in Norway S@H is the only option at launch). Given that the MF sold out quickly I can imagine someone will try to flip it for a quick profit - can be somewhat of a gamble though.
  5. I think the ISD looks good, and the plate style is what I expected. I would have liked it to be a bit bit smoother in areas, and certainly there are mocs out there which looks better (and uses way more parts, so no surprise). Overall I think the designer did a good job, and appreciate them remaking the ISD after all these years. I will most likely get it at some point, but with no place to display it I'm in no rush.
  6. I agree about having the parts is enough to build & enjoy a set, doesn't matter if the parts came packaged in the same box or not. I prefer building with digital instructions even when I have the instructions as it saves desk space and I don't need to weigh the instructions down to keep them on the correct page. I usually get the actual sets though, since I love minifigures and in many licensed sets there are figures unique to that set.
  7. Received my box today, and a few comments after looking at the actual figures: - Really disappointed by the fox figure. This was one of faves from looking at the renders/photos, but it is just too orange. The "white" print on orange looks almost pink - really ruins the figure for me. - The render of the bounty hunter gave it a Blacktron vibe I liked, other photos online made it look very generic. The actual figure looks good, Blacktron vibe intact! - The torso of the knight looks good. - The mummy looks better than expected. There was something with the face I didn't like in the renders/photos, but the actual figure is ok.
  8. Looking at the pictures of the new sets, I think LEGO Star Wars has just about fizzled out for me. None of the sets really excite me, and It's not because I think the sets are poorly designed or anything, just an overall lack of enthusiasm on my part. There are a few figures I would like but that's about it.
  9. You can still find it in the menu under Support -> Replacement parts, but I agree it is rather well hidden - unless you know what you are looking for you probably won't find it. I am not at all convinced they turn a profit on B&P. As you say they have to have the missing parts service, and B&P probably just offset the cost of keeping that running. From what I've been told in Billund they have retirees hand picking the orders, so part courtesy to us AFOLs and part community service. How it is now with people reporting they are shipping B&P orders from more locations than Billund I'm not sure.
  10. Do you actually know this, or are you just speculating?
  11. I remember that build, really nice work with the lettering! I don't think it would have made a difference if you submitted it digitally with a nice render though. The main two things I think was working against your entry is: 1) The scene is relatively simple (and I don't mean that in a bad way, just to be clear). It is the van, the bikes & figs and a base (all nicely executed in your build). Compare it to the Grand prize winner scene, there is a lot more to work with, with the pumpkin patch, the tunnels in the upside-down style and more figures. 2) A lot of people built the same scene (not surprising since it is such a memorable scene), which makes it hard to score it high on originality. Among the other contestants I really liked this one, but it wasn't among the three winners: https://ideas.lego.com/challenges/f72933d5-6a50-4179-8a95-617380b3c74c/application/d7cb4628-1043-4bb6-8269-87873329ce48 If I hadn't been too busy with other projects (and discovered the competition earlier) I might have joined, but I doubt I would have fared any better than you. I decided to build something for the Help decorate the LEGO House competition instead, which had much better odds of winning.
  12. I don't think there is any conscious bias favouring digital builds, but it is a little curious that so many winning builds in the recent contests are digital. I think a well photographed physical build has a chance, so I wouldn't give up entirely. Like you I prefer to build with bricks, building digitally just does not give me the same enjoyment. There are both advantages & disadvantages to building digital, but I do think those who are skilled with software have an advantage in terms of speed (at least for many types of builds). I don't know which builds are yours so I can't comment specifically on them, but in general I think your chances would be better if you put all your efforts into one build. The prices for many of these competitions are excellent so the competition is pretty tough. I think the Jurassic Park Grand Prize winner was a good choice, and I can see the qualities in the runners up selections as well. I do think there are more builds that could just as easily been chosen as runners up, but at the end of the day it is what appeals to the jury that specific day...
  13. If LEGO does another Diagon Alley D2C my bet is that it will be along the lines of the previous one. Anything on baseplates I think is highly unlikely.
  14. What the... #bountyhuntergate That is just plain weird, will hold off on final judgement until I have an actual figure to look at. I'm fine with face print, better than to just have a regular yellow head.
  15. Built the graveyard and Expecto Patronum sets yesterday. The graveyard is a surprisingly nice build for such a small set, and with 4 good figs I think it's a bargain not to be missed. Expecto Patronum feels a bit sparse compared to the graveyard, but comes with the stag which eats up part of the budget. For me this set is a must have because of the excellent Sirius Black figure, and overall I think it is a good set. Hopefully future waves will have more small sets with a generous number of figures like these two!
  16. That is your preference. I often (but not always) find the opposite to be true, with the movie/TV version looking better than the comic version. As an example, take wonder woman: The 4th one I like the least, but that is probably the most comic accurate one. Regardless of my personal preference though, I'm glad we got multiple variants so we can pick & choose. And I vastly prefer having 4 different Wonder Woman figures than having 4 identical ones.
  17. That Phoenix torso looks good, where is it from? Don't remember it from the comics, but I'm only familiar with a small segment of those. Edit: Or it may not be Phoenix, just a jacket with a bird. Anyway, looks good.
  18. It won’t happen of course, but there are far more people angry about not having a chance to get the SDCC figures than people who actually managed to get them.
  19. Looks great, getting this one for sure.
  20. Swapping hands & arms are fair game IMO. I try to be careful though, especially with the arms. Even if the arms are a slightly softer plastic the torso may crack.
  21. Maybe in the Netherlands it is well priced. In Norway they have added another 10 Euro to the price, it is not good value for money.
  22. Ended up buying & building the Shrimp Boat today. Nice little set with good value for money I think. Tried the app as well, and as expected it didn't quite rock my boat. The AR was pretty well done, but I'm too old for this style of gameplay. I will most likely buy more Hidden Side since I quite like the sets, but I don't expect to get hooked on the game.
  23. Built Hagrid's Hut yesterday, another good set. The hut is a nice update, figs are good. Buckbeak & the pumpkin patch really adds to the set. Harry Potter is easily my favourite theme these days, good sets with good value for money (except maybe for the Beauxbaton carriage). The only negative now is that with this and the clocktower I've built my favourite sets from the latest wave. Crossing my fingers for a second CMF series.
  24. I am intrigued by that piece count for a vehicle, gonna be interesting to see what it is. Considering the Mustang was approx 1500 pieces, twice that for a somewhat larger vehicle is not out of the question.
