Thanks a lot Yoda!! Now, I will be able to complete my review *sweet* Regards from Mexico
-
Hi there! Yep, the rumors are true, I am the one gusmoore1987 who has nothing to do and what better than building a Lego Set. Unfortunally, I've been looking everywhere for info about a set that personally from the first time I saw it I knew that I had to buy it, first because of the amazing cuantity of classic castle pieces (which as you will notice, I don't have) and then because it's a KKII set!! *sweet* My apologies if pics can only be viewed by brickshelf.com links that I'll be posting too during my explications. :-$ But, I just don't understand how for example Xwingyoda can upload so many pics in his reviews without breaking fast the file space for this (of course, jjeje, teachers are welcome!). Anyway, I'll have to learn to do it because there are pics missing...and you'll be the first ones to get them before I upload them at my recently created brickshelf folder. Ok, first, searching for info about this *wub* set, I found myself at a classic-castle.com forum in which a guy posted the Book 1 and Book 2 instructions from this set, supposedly official ones. I got excited when I realized that despite colors, almost every single piece was there at my shelfs. Then the problem was the huge number of really small and hard to find pieces and of the minifigs accesories, weapons and of a triangular large piece which are all new for me. Please, consider that I only have a classic castle catapult and a little port from pirates, that's all. The sets that I first disambled and that quickly got useless were the ones from KKII. Even If I have for a long time defended this line, I have to admit that it features a long long long cuantity of useless pieces, and that the sets that really helped me building this set were the ones from Vikings, Harry Potter, Ninja, the two little ones I have told you (6244 and 6043, some Adventurers and OE and the SW's Millenium Falcon. Look at this thing!!! Entire Castle When I finally finished it I couldn't stop staring at it for several minutes, because it was amazing how beautiful the design is, even if there are no black "printed columns walls" and even that there are no enough black walls from Vladek's Dark Fortress, the design is gorgeous. This pic is an example that I don't have enough pieces but that the set itself saves the day: Check the entire right tower, the lateral white and black builders and even the Harry Potter Sealings In this part the rock piece supposed to be dark gray, the blue part of the little tower should be a lion face piece, the laterals are a black tower piece and the wall piece from 6244, then in the taller tower the two gray columns are substituting a black "printed columns wall" piece, I ran out of long axes and used an elaborated long spear from VDF and the green sealings from Harry Potter castles are all in this set. So, I want to apologize about this, because it's not a truly copy of the original 10176, but still I think it works well, and it rocks!!! Now, a front picture so you can ubicate yourselfs at the time I explain everything: : ) Beautiful Oh, I almost forgot, first a sneek peak at the minifigs: I did my best, hehe. And then the weapons' car, this is the only part of the set which I think is useless, but it is so pretty that you just can't make it aside: With a soldier Now, the right front tower: The green should be new blue and it features nothing at its back, still catapult is great! The catapult featured at top of both front towers: Works very well, it has a very long shoot Now, the left front tower: A simetric copy of the other one, except for its feature... An upper look of the towers: Love how they use those "handy" grey pieces from Vikings and I think there are also featured at Exoforce sets Now, the left back little builder: It's a bizarre part, if you ask me Even it is a nice building part, it doesn't make sense to me, looking back at King's Castle there are better and nicer towers in that one, so I don't understand how TLC decided just to throw out one of them and instead putting this one. Back view of the left back little builder: Nothing but a silver key at the door! Here instead of the black plates there should be a long triangular piece which is very very <insert that tiresome argument> from I saw in the instructions, and even makes this builder look more weird. Although, in conjunction as I'll show you it works well with the rest of the castle. Now, the right back tower: It's the tallest of the four! Even it also features nothing in its real structure, there's a surprise in its base *sweet* , and the top catapult also works perfectly! Back view of the right back tower: As you can see, this is the part of the set in which I had to substite too many pieces... At its base there's a cell floor door, which hides this: You can see it there saying hi to the camera! Towerless... Now, the main building, the best part of the set: Front view, gates open but long axes blocking the entrance. Strangely for me, the towers features blue flags, but the main building features red ones...maybe a KKII hint? Back view, it really feels like a classic castle Notice that the white "wall" pieces originally should be black and the floor is not black but green. The King's Throne Also the red details at the swords and the throne are great, they are very very simple, but makes you feel like in a royal hall. First floor front close up This is the part of the set that features the most <insert that tiresome argument> pieces, but also has the "handy" pieces holding the red flags and so many other 2x1 bricks. The Sorcerer's room aka the upper part of the main building Instead of the green goblet there should be a trans light blue one!!!! *wub* Also instead of the marauder's map from HP ( X-D ), there should be a pergamin piece which I had seen featured in classic magician's sets but none of any recently sets. Anyway, not only the minifig accesories are cute, but also the black walls mixed with the grey archs: lovely! *wub* Gothic Ceiling with lion-like pieces!! The part of the set I love the most, the upper part of the main building has lots (the photograph doesn't make justice to this) and lots of 2x1 grey bricks!!! Also the blue roof and the sides' towers are great. Another view of my favourite part! the misterious red flags again... Back of the roof with a lovely bat in there :-D Now, here it comes the most playable part of the set, the one that makes this set completely different from the rest of its predecessors, I'm refering surprisingly to the Baseplate and of course, to the Dwarf minifig!!! A glance to all the thing! It is a dungeon, a torture chamber, a blacksmith workshop and also the part of the set in which you can see how the front bridge is made :-P We've already checked the dungeon, so let's check the other parts: Front view of the bridge system Sorry if there are lots of parches, hehe, but got run out of pieces very quickly. Something I haven't mentioned is that this sets features a lot of 1x10 and 2x10 plates, awesome! Our friend the dwarf working!! The oven should be black and features 8 round 1x1 "fire pieces" and 3 black ones that I guess should be like the oven's coal. Lovely, lovely. Then there's the anvil in which the dwarf shapes the sword, it is an excellent feature :'-) The helmet and the armour just gives the workshop the right feeling!! The Torture Chamber Another playable feature. It also should be entirely black except for the "plane plates" at the top which are already dark grey. Again we see the handy pieces holding the skeleton and Scabbers' minifig which is also featured in Mistlands' Tower just like another rat. Back gates that lead to the baseplate features This work even better than the ones that protect the Golden Dragon at OE's 7419, I mean, there's no point of comparison, the ones we see in this set are great. Another lovely feature at the baseplate: Builded stairs at the left side of the base!! Finally, a back view of the castle put together: With Minifigs! Thanks a lot for your patience, you know, there were some things that made me postpone many times the making of these review, but finally there it is. There's only a part missing, the one with the treasure chest, I'll be posting later these days the pics from that one. Maybe it's because I don't have a real classic castle set, but I have to say that dispite the builder, this set is awesome even if it's only a copycat with some MOC solutions to the lack of pieces that nowadays the KKII sets offer. Wanna see more pics?? My 10176 Set: 10/10 Minifigs: 10/10 Design: 9/10 (because if its a remake of King's Castle, well, it's not) Playability: 9/10 (even if there are too many excellent playable features, the builder it's useless) Final veredict: 9.5 (Only from the one I did) *sweet* See ya!

Lovely, both the review and the set!!! It looks just like the one of the show, well hehehe, smaller than I imagined, but still works great! *sweet*

Astonished!!! Can we talk about a possibility of having a new historic theme for 2007?? Since the gangsters-like guns appeared in the Batman sets, long discussions have been there about a possible 30's theme (spies or gangsters) and there are even those who talked about a WW2 theme. As long as even we're about to see a torture chamber in the 10176 set......could this be true?? Don't like how fragile the design seems to me, but, what the hell?? It's an awesome airplane!! *wub*
-
Well, I disagree with those who say that 10176 is: -A lack castle, which is absolutely not true, it has more bricks that the entire KKII sets line!! -A renewed version of 6090. Believe me, after seeing the MOC 10176 I built and have next to me and compared it with the one I have on screen (brickset.com file of 6090), there's no comparison point, both castles have their own style and the 1995's is beautiful because of its medieval style and this year's is also beautiful because of its almost Reinassence style (except of course of the dwarf at the basement, hehe). I just want to finish my review soon! Meanwhile you can look by yourselves for the pics I took (by member, I am gusmoore1987 and maybe you find the folder if you enter 10176 at search bar, all in brickshelf.com) :-D

Hi, in fact, hehehe, I am the Gusmoore that built this model. Sorry if I haven't posted anything yet here, but I have a reason: two pics of the left tower are missing which hide a misterious treasure!!! So please, all I ask you is a little bit patience and of course, you'll have the exclusive of this two photos, meanwhile you can already go to brickshelf.com at my folder or wait for my own review about this "MOC". :'-) Of course, it is not the original one, I took the instructions from a link at Classic Castle and I used pieces from my KKII collection, and as you know there are so much <insert that tiresome argument> pieces at this sets that I had to go and look for some pieces from HP, Star Wars, and even there are some Ninja and Adventurers pieces. I'll try to make the review as soon as possible and of course uploading the photos I hadn't put. Thanks a lot for your patience! :-D
-
Extraordinary Finding!! HAHA, :-D , it's pretty weird, and the thing that most amuses me is the fact that the official trailer's photography was used. Just, I have to complain about a thing: there are almost no MOC's in there, but still, watch it, it is such a fun!! *y*

Snefroe 1: We have to talk about two different situations that curiously happened at least here in Mexico: the 80's-90's period and the recent "new millenium" period. During the 80's and the 90's we get as many and exclusive sets as the US costumers, from Space to Pirates and Classic Castle, and of course all the waves that were released during the 90's. I have for example Outback sets, Divers sets, Ninja minifig packs, Star Wars minifig packs, the Freestyle Disarmer (these plastic thing exclusive for some Freestyle sets and which you can separate almost any kind of system pieces), every single Castle set from Falcon's Castle to Forest men was released here. I also have exclusive packages like the Mummy thing in which you could store the pieces from that set (don't remember the name) and the Zeppeling, of course, both from Adventurers. King Leo's Castle and Dino Compound, as long as the Ninja Fortress with the "misterious" Ninja Princess mfig were released here...but then we have to talk about the second situation. During this 90's wave there was inclusive a Mexican Lego Club of which I conserve the ID card (scratched here and here because I had like 10 y. o. when I received it and didn't know how much these things value), but then suddenly at the end of 2000 year, everything stopped here. In fact, the only lego sets you could buy in 2001 were the SW ones...by december of that year Lego Mexico imported Hagrid's Hut and Gringotts Bank only. During this time I began to search through the web about Lego info, and I discovered the Life in Mars sets, the City sets, Basketball, etc., etc. Then it was till 2002 that Bionicle appeared around here along with the rest of the HP and SW sets. And again, we were lack of sets over here while there were not that great but significant lines like Studios and Xtreme Team, of course, Alpha Team too, which never seen mexican light "officialy". 2003 we only got SW and some Orient Expedition sets: the Scorpion Palace and the Mt. Everest Temple. It was in 2004 when I met a friend on Mercadolibre.com.mx (ebay.com in Mexico) who looked everywhere and get me the Dragon Fortress from OE, the City collection sets from 2003, the Speed Train from I think 2001, and then I began to buy from her the lovely HP collection from 2004, the Millenium Falcon and the Ferrari Sets. By 2005 I began to buy through ebay.com the KKII sets, and to find exclusives like Knights' Barge and Dark Fortress Landing, and etc, etc. Now, if I haven't got a lot of sets is because is really expensive to import by myself sets from US, but still, jeje, I do it. I just love the Lego sets and it is sad to find out that Lego Mexico didn't bring last year's KK, SW, not even Dino Attack, and of course no Vikings!! Only Bionicle, HP and two small SW sets. But, well, what the hell, I'll keep on collecting Lego sets till Lego Mexico realises that there are still LOTS and LOTS of Latinamerican fans that also like to have the good stuff. ;-)

Here's another REALLY BIG PROBLEM with TLC Marketing!!: As the Admin's Guys must know, here at eurobricks.com comunity there are a lot of AFOLs from Latinamerica, I have seen people must from Brazil, a guy from Colombia and me, hehe, from Mexico. The point is that in the past years, TLC at our countries has made such an effort on bringing only the "movie" sets and making the little boys to forget about lines such as Vikings, Knights' Kingdom, Adventurers (Orient Expedition specifically) and this year we're not getting any line but Exo Force and the basic Star Wars Sets (no KK, no ISD, no Jabba's Sailbarge, of course no Vikings, a few Bionicle stuff, no new Ferrari ones, no Nickelodeon, NO BATMAN!!, >:-( ). So, Hello!! Here in Latinamerica TLC has lots and lots of real followers, such as Mr. Phes for example who really misses the 80's wave, such as me who have seen the change from Forest Men to KKII, passing by King Leo's sets....Others who have collected every single Star Wars sets and that now (like me) have to buy the new and good stuff from Ebay.com and at very very expensive costs (Pay Pal, Intl. Money Order, plus shipment, the fastest because if not maybe someone at the post office sees the packages inside and steal the Lego sets, it has happened to me, etc, etc). :'-( If TLC is complaining about their financial results, and its taking back such loving sets like the Vikings line, it's because their marketing department plus the "genious" designers who are guilty of making such rubbish like "System scale Bionicle" are making the boys not only forget about the good stuff Lego sets are, but getting interest in things like MegaBlocks. :-D Yeah!, finally I could speak for us!!!! *sweet*

Average amount spent on Lego in a year
gusmoore17 replied to Zane's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Making a fast calcule, since 1998, more less 5000 mexican pesos, which are like 500 USD per year...Oh my gosh, that's a lot *wacko* -
I didn't know about this!!! Yeah, the site is excellent, is far better than Peeron.com Thanks a lot for the finding!! And those gals who've been so agresive with the one who posted this, why hadn't you shared this site before if it was "so well known"? *sweet* I hope that keep you out of being so selfish!! Thanks a lot Xwingyoda for being always such a good moderator.

PICTORIAL REVIEW: 8821 Rogue Knight Battleship
gusmoore17 replied to Janus's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thanks a lot for the review!! What I like from this ship is that in addition with the Knights' Battle ship you will be able to recreate a KK sail battle!!! which for me, it's excellent... then, I have to say that I agree and would like to see more pieces in both the ship and the tower. Whatever, it looks pretty! :'-) -
Who cares about a torture chamber when you're about to meet this set? Guau, it's Megablocking awesome that this set is real!!!! Finally a set that can stand back over the KKII fans!! And, well, maybe KK is mean to be the prescedent of the Classic Castles?? Maybe there's a connection between the new and "old" ones, just like a kind of Presequel....Dunno, but, oh I'm so happy!! :'-) Where is gonna be available and how much is it gonna cost? X-D

Battle at the Pass: the best set from KKII collection. That's all I have to say :'-)

Who wants to look at the Arkham comic when....
gusmoore17 replied to reideen1313's topic in LEGO Licensed
WOW!!! The first impressions are that Arkham Asylum is just a mess of modular castle-harrypotter like sets, but then, everything makes sense... Poison Ivy's and Scarecrow's cells are together in the same building and then you have other two in which of course one must be Riddle's and then...well, it looks like playability simply won't stop in this set! Then we have the building's design, which is I think EXCELLENT, it's like having KK2 and HP sets together in a wild mix called Batman... I won't say that I didn't wanted a more Tim-Burton-like design, but the final results are amazing. The castle-like buildings and the "modern" entrance are great!!! The minifigs are also a great and a most-have addition to this set, as it is the transport included. The only thing that disapoints me is Batman's Glider....what's that?? and Shadow's bike, well, at least is black. Conclusion: a most have set!!! :-) -
Just found this at brickshelf KKSETS these are at least from someone who already has bought the new sets. *sweet*

Excellent review! A must buy set! Let the Force be with you! *vader*

NEW!!! Knights Kingdom II year 3 images
gusmoore17 replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Again, I'm standing in front of the canyon to defend these sets: the archs at the sides of the Tower look really great, also it can be seen that you can remove the front gate if you're not using it, also the colors dark green and the newy grays look fantastic, also the Gargoyle Bridge has many functions and doesn't look that weird. The Royal ship looks great with that dragon wings but I totally disagree with the mini tower you get with it. The minifigs are excellent, the best we are gonna see from this collection and, well, I am getting this!! However, what happened to Battle at the Pass?? Is it gonna be another megablocking TRU exclusive?? *sweet* Oh, and thanks Mr Phes for the new images, they are excellent!! -
Rudo Villano: because he is the excellent Johny Thunder's Counterpart. It reminds you of a kind of bad Thunder Twin actually....besides he's human and I fear most of living humans than mummies, skeletons, dinosaurs, etc.... :'-)

Big, Fat, Hi-res Pictures of upcoming sets
gusmoore17 replied to Zane's topic in General LEGO Discussion
No matter what Classic Castle fans say, KKII-3 have really make an improvement in minifigs, accesories and colors!!! No more black and red castles or stupid construction castles (such as Morcia one), they look great!! Besides, if you look closer there are many walls made only of brick and basements (as long as there are no one-plastic-piece ones) had to be made with <insert that tiresome argument> pieces so there can be a balance in structure... I'll be buying at least the Gargoyle Bridge, and what about the Battle at Pass??? :'-) Vikings are amazing!! The Ofnir Dragon is kinda exagerate, but still looks great, as the Double Catapult and the Wagon. There are new stud faces!!! *wacko* I'm not a fan of Exo-Force, but I have to admit that the Sentai Headquarter amazed me!!! 8- -
What would make a great Adventurer sub-theme?
gusmoore17 replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Definitively, Atlantis, but if it is designed such as the set # 4762 Rescue from Merpeople...in which aspect? The archs and columns from light green to dark green passing by light and dark blues and with some Aquanauts features.....of course the Johny Thunder's Submarine or something like that. And for Historic lines, Lego should be working on the Romans, as long as Playmobil has make a real impressive improvement this year with their line....hoping to see Romans or Mithologic Greece in Lego like the Vikings!!! There should be no problem as long as there are lego pieces with the shape of columns from the Latin and Greece styles (look at the 1998's Pharaoh's Forbidden Ruins Columns!!). Seeing that the next year, I could rest a little bit... :'-) -
Least successful Lego line/set (Galidor excl.)
gusmoore17 replied to gylman's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Talking about: 1.- I refuse myself to believe Aquanauts, Rock Raiders or Divers are failures!!! Of course not, at least in Mexico they were the most sold ones through ages and as long as I have come to meet the international lego comunity, they are as loved in the comunity as the rest of all the sucesfull ones (Castles, Pirates, SW, HP, Space, City, etc, etc, etc.) Just check this: if you're a good collector, you at least should have one of those... 2.- From 2001 to 2002 no one can't deny that the sets out that years were the worst ever!! From that years not even the HP or the SW sets could being saved (how could you explain that most of the sets released from these lines 2001-2002 were re-designed in 2004?). 3.- These gets me to other questionable sets: OK, 2001-2002, the NBA and the Hockey sets were released and these were obviously failures, also Galidor, Life on Mars (No one has talked of this non-so-called sets), and other failures such as Jack Stone and Explorer were released these years. So, I absolutely support the idea that during this "DARK PERIOD" of TLC, Bionicle line was the one who kept Lego alive. 4.- In 2003 we could finally see some light at the end of the road: ORIENT EXPEDITION!!! 5.- I think that since 2003 and of course 2004, TLC has achieved a crescent number of fans and sucesful lines, so Lego stopped depending on the Bionicle sets to keep live, and as I have already said, lines such as OE, HP3, HP4, SW, ROTS, KKII 1-2, Ferrari, World City, City, Vikings, the re-designes from HP and SW Classics, Bionicle, etc., appeared in the Intl. Markets and they prove to be a new and extraordinary revival of the Lego Co. around the globe. 6.- What's Znap?? So, I guess that's a failure too, right? *sweet* -
Oh my, that are terrible news!!!! Here in Mexico the Lego Magazine doens't exist, but I have a few of them some friends have brought me from US. Pitty!!!! :-/
