  1. Yeay! HP 2011 sets!! The Battle of Hogwarts' set is obviously quite intriguing, and I'm hoping to see magical creatures in that set...why? because (sorry if this is a spoiler) they are all in!! Giants, acromantulas, centaurs, ghosts, magically-living-creatures&knightarmors...I mean, this set could be a huge hint for what we'll see in the movie, and I'm really hoping for all these magical creatures to show up! If they don't...well, I guess the Producers and Director from the movie will be as well hated as they were when they take off from the HP6 movie ALL the action that follows Dumbledore's killing at the astronomy tower and Dumbledore's Funeral, which are such breathtaking scenes in the book! Forbidden Forest will surely include a tree, so that's enough for me to buying it. Not interested in the Knight Bus, I've already got the first one. What about Ministry of Magic sets, another Privet Drive version and/or Grimmauld Place?? And even Shell Cottage, which we'll see in DH2?? Come on TLC, keep on bringing the HP Line in 2012!
  2. only interested in the training dojo set and the little black ninja one, the one with a bull's eye practice....the rest of the theme looks crappy, i prefer to spend my money on pharaoh's quest and atlantis
  3. OMG OMG OMG!! It's Medieval Market Village all the way round! Definitively a must-buy set for 2011...lovin' all the buildings' facades, they do really resemble those from the movies...I'm also loving that TLC is paying attention for details from the Half Blood Prince, i mean, vanishing cavinet in Hogwart's ultimate edition and know Borgin and Burkes with its own vanishing cavinet!! I'm blowed! I own the first Gringotts, so it will be quite easy for me to expand the interiors and add a dragon recreating Deathly Hallows chapter 2...and Ollivander's! another great addition for movie sequence... is like closing the entire saga, just hoping to see DH's sets in 2011/2012 Thanks a lot 4making my day!
  4. thanks for reviewing this set! however, it's clear it could be the weakest set of this new Harry Potter wave... little details in interior/exterior design have always been a flag for the hp sets, and this set have them, specially the mushrooms... but the design just leaks, it doesn't feel as integrated as the first and second Hagrid's Hut (yes, the roof-paper one is far more accurate than this one), being the one from the Prisoner of Azkaban wave the best of the three of them . Again, thanks for reviewing this set, but TLC: no thanks . p.s. kind of like the new hagrid minifig, anyway, I won't buy this, and what the heck with aragog?! o.O
  5. 1. No. I usually don't buy them because it's a matter of buying one of these or various sets from other THEMES. In this matter let me compare how much more valuable was for me the Orient Expedition's Scorpion Palace set against the Taj Mahal produced last year... 2. Most of the time is the whole theme, as long as there's a nice background story and is well represented through Lego sets. For example, IMO Toy Story sets are missing this, so, I won't buy any, but on the other hand, the new Harry Potter wave really represents the essentials as long as it keeps the nice background story those are based on. 3. I don't think I'll buy any in the future. 4. ....But maybe a cathedral would appeal for me. What about St Peter's Basilica?? 5. I'm also loving the way TLC has been designing and re-thinking itself since 2003-2004 to date. Keep on doing that, you've produced really amazing stories and amazing sets...I do like the new building techniques, parts, colours and minifigs' diversity. However, I have a wish list: a. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' sets b. What about Star Wars kind of scenarios..? just like the Battle of Endor set c. Don't let Atlantis die!! You may explore many scenarios, ships, and legend throuh it... d. Keep on producing Pirates, the way you developed its only new wave was amazing! e. Revisit old themes, just like Adventurers, with very strong history and story backgrounds and basis f. The so-asked-before Romans or Greeks sets, releasing them maybe based on mithology would be terrific! Look at Clash of the Titans not because it was a great movie but look for the possibilities it opens: creatures, characters, scenarios.... playability! g. Keep on producing Medieval themes, wheter it's called Knights' Kingdom, Castle, Kingdoms....whatever, as I said before, the evolution process in stories and designs you've been up to since 2004 talking of this specifically kind of theme, has been truly awesome.
  6. A MUST BUY 4ME Nice review!
  7. I'm really loving the way this new Kingdoms sets can be easily related with the Castle ones!!! Specially with Medieval Market Village set, and the rest of the buildings produced during Castle...you only need to replace the skellies or the trolls (only if you don't like the "fantasy" mixing up with the "reality") and there you really have various kingdoms in one display!! Congrats TLC
  8. I imagined worst things, but actually i'm really loving the HQ, I think it's a big step on Lego design, as the Shark Portal set is, I'm really amazed with these sets!
  9. Mixed up feelings!! Pros: 1. They're kind of general, in fact I LOVE the way even the 5th and 6th parts of the series are inserted in 1st to 4th years. 2. MINIFIGS! awesome, no one has noticed yet Flitwick's minifig in the Great Hall?! Also, Mr Filtch and Mrs Norris, New McGonagall, dementors, the trio's new look (loving ron's 4th movie hair style), Bellatrix, the Weasleys, even Fenrir Greyback, Lucius, Dobby....well, those new minifigs and changes are really excellent! 3. Hogwarts Castle, which I think has nothing to do with the 2nd and 3rd castles, but actually it's about mixing the 1st one with some scenery of the Chamber of Secrets' wave. What I mean is: a. New Great Hall building design, which IMO is waaaaay better than that stupid paper roof of the 1st castle, also the interior it's excellent b. Dumbledore's Office. I'm keeping with the original one, but the new one has many many details that can be MOCed (Gryffindor's sword!!), or could be kept as McGonagall or someone else's office. c. The tower...which many have said at its first floor is the entrance to the chamber of secrets, please, remember this entrance is a bathroom, so what I've figured out is that this tower holds the common rooms at its bottom from Slytherin House, at its top Gryffindor House. d. Loving the little towers that connect all the buildings in this set, at last not getting separated buildings, something very well earned from the 3rd castle (the OotP one) 4. The Burrow. I'm loving it, it is like I was expecting it. Lots of details, that pig it's great, the broom cabinet which is many times mentioned in the books and that hasn't been in the movies, the dining room where also many pivotal scenes take place...it's also a must get 5. Really impressed with Quidditch set and Dobby's release, I won't get the first but the second is a nice feature for my entire Hogwarts display, is a good conector and includes dobby and lucius Cons: 1. Luna in the Hogwarts' Express set?! come on, this set is all the same as the previous ones! Has nothing new on it, i'm not interested at all on it. Hope there's a chance of getting Luna elsewhere in future waves (if planned) 2. Hagrid's Hut. LOL!! it's just as disapointing as Hogwarts' Express. I am definitely keeping the 3rd wave one, it's far better. 3. Hogwarts Castle. a. Ok, I understand the intention of remaking some parts of it, but...there's an useless tower which I don't know what's there for. Or is it the astronomy tower? Why another if we got one in the first and a very beautiful one in the third castle? b. IMO there's also a lack of SCALE compared to the other 3 ones, it lacks of height! This is very very strange, in fact it should be something not to worry about but as a 15-year-collector and having all 3 castle sets, I am really looking forward to even substitute, as I mentioned above, the Great Hall building. Design is very very different from the rest of the waves, it's very well welcomed, but it's worrying when there's something that simply doesn't fit at all. Waiting for more pics to judge better. c. Related to design again, it seems to be built of many bricks, which is also very welcomed, but somehow it looks bulky. It's really strange as long as there are very few <insert that tiresome argument> pieces... I just can't keep on thinking there's something weird in it. 4. Yes, the Burrow is all I expected, but I shall mention again the weird design composition that makes it look as bulky as the Hogwarts Castle. To make my point clearer, please get in mind the Hogsmeade and Shrieking Shack set from the 3rd original wave. Its made of many many pieces, and the result is a very fluid design that resembles the buildings from the movies' team design. Both Hogwarts and Burrow lack of this. 5. In the Quidditch and Dobby's release set, there's also a strange mix of colors. This is great for piece variety in your collection, but executed on the sets' design, it's not that good. For example, PoP sets are really gorgeous in this matter. All in all, those are very controvertible sets, there are lots of oppinions. I also agree with the one fellow who said this sets look dark, very Dark indeed, but I have no problem at all with it. Lots of details, of gorgeous and exclusive pieces that always have come along with the HP theme, and of course, I'm getting at least the Burrow and Hogwarts sets, that's for sure, I'm a HP and Lego fan and those are really great sets. P.D. just noticed the new photos....AWESOME BELLATRIX!!! and is that...Voldemort?!
  10. OMG!! An authentic MEXICAN minifigure!!! And it doesn't look racist, but really involves a global idea of the traditional clothes without being disrespectful, it's not a stupid-Speedy-Gonzalez-like one, it really is gorgeous...it's cultural and not denigrant, woow, i'm really impressed!! p.d. the greek one is also phenomenal, could it mark at least a 2011 wave??
  11. OMG! This is really great news!! Yay!, maybe we'll even see Luna Lovegood or another death eater minifig!
  12. OMG! I can't wait to see some nice pics!! there shall be some at flickr or somewhere...!! Anyway, I'm not interested at all in Hogwarts' Express, I bet it's the same thing since the first version, and now with the blue car...nah, it was included in Harry's release set with Uncle Vernon minifig included... I wasn't interested at all in the dobby's and quidditch's sets, however, they sound really promising ones, especially minifigs and pieces, hope to see the Horcrux included in Dobby's one and quidditch team members (crossing fingers against a harry or draco minifig) Not judging Hogwarts Castle set until I see some nice pics...if its design concept is like the las two versions, it's very well welcome, also a Luna and a Mc Gonagall minifig would be awesome. The Burrow is the one that excites me the most!! 5 to 6 minifigs?!! that's awesome, I'd love to see Bellatrix or a Death Eater minifig...! Let's hunt some pics from UK toy fair!
  13. Hey! What about 10176?! It's not here because it doesn't have walls on its "4 sides" or is it because it was released under the Knights' Kingdom theme?! Explain yourself rightaway! I see why Vladek's Dark Fortress it's not included and in fact, I agree with that decision, but King's Castle 10176?!
  14. I'm not a Bionicle fan, in fact, I never like it...however, take this as an opinion from the outside: HERO theme is just like BIONICLE! wth with this theme?! I expected something...new, not a kind of fusion between bionicle and the slize theme!! I don't know if Bionicle fans feel like this, but I feel disappointed, specially when there are such amazing sets and new themes for this year.
  15. So, if it's true that in general WB is making a full new merchandise campaing/release based on the Harry Potter World theme...we could expect sets not only based in years 1-4 but actually a full range of "general scenarios" featuring a (hopefully) vast number of characters made into minifigs! This is an awesome piece of news!! btw, i'm not that fond of that Fang minifig, actually, a Padfoot one would be great, nevertheless there's a lot of chance we get the Fang one for the Hagrid's set
  16. OMG...by the end of this year I'm gonna be waaaaaay tooooo poor...thanks TLG, it's all your fault!
  17. Yeah, sets from movies 6 and 7 would be really awesome...there's no reason why always have to be related to blood or something like that, the burrow could be based in the 6th, which is the movie it's most featured on, that bathroom duel sounds great for a concept, and from the 7th installment, there are soooo SO MANY scenes that are set-able, and there's any blood in them! come on Lego! Here I also think TLC is making a mistake by targeting ages 6-12, it should be 9-14, so those "bloody" or "dark" themes could be covered.
  18. The Burrows is probably the set with more new minifigs possibilities, at least a descent one of Ginny and another Weasley character, it would be a very big let down if there's only Ron, Harry and/or Hermione. The thing I'm must worried about is that about minifigs...the last edition of the Hogwarts' Castle had the best minifigs of the entire theme, no one can argue that, the point is...is Lego respecting these new minifig designs, or is coming back to the very first wave ones? If it's the second...I'll undoubtedly think twice on purchasing the rest of the sets. I'm also waiting until I see preliminary images, particularly on the Hogwarts' Castle set, I have the 3 previous, and it won't mather a 4th edition but TLC has to be very careful, also if what they're releasing is a remake of the 4709 (1st edition), which in my opinion is the worst of all. Expecting to see a Mc Gonagall or a Luna Lovegood and another really awesome Death Eater (which is very unlikely)

  20. Keeping up controversy: There's no point with wich we can compare KK's, Castle and this new theme, I think these 3 themes are different because of they're own background story. Maybe, its only share point is...they use "castles", and if that's the case I'd compare them also with HP ones...which is not the case here. However, IMO: KK=playability; Castle=imagination; Kingdoms=history accurate. I've loved and hated many of the "castle based" sets released through this 2000-decade, but I want to defend the sets that IMO had something worthy: 1. 10176 King's Castle. Design, history accurate, playability, accesories, minifigs. Some flaws in design, but overall a really well done set from surprisely (and even supposedly) KKII theme. 2. 7029 Skeleton Ship Attack. Playability, Design (a port or something like that, woow), minifigs, accesories. 3. 8877 Vladek's Dark Fortress. Design, interiors (very history accurate indeed, simple and 80's old-styled), playability. It's a huge set, but as KK theme in general, many big pieces but also new and quite cool ones, however once it's built, it's magnificent. Hating the "good knights" catapult, that's I think its great weakness. 4. 7036 Dwarves' Mine. Design, minifigs, concept (a dwarves' mine!), details, color scheme, accesories. Its problem: it is not thaaat "mine-like"...however, use your imagination! 5. 8802+8801 Knights' attack barge & Dark Fortress Landing. General concept, playability, minifigs, accesories. I find this combo quite interesting, maybe its execution is too bulky (again, the great KKII flaw), but honestly very playable, I think it's the first set (and if I am wrong, please correct me, I'm only 22 y.o.), that featured an actual ship attacking a fortress at bay. Very fun to build too. 6. 7079 Drawbridge Defense. Design, concept, minifigs, accesories, color scheme, playability. Beautiful designed tower, lacks of interiors as almost any of the Castle theme sets, but its minifigs and the entire concept of a reaper kidnapping a queen, featuring a jester and a beautiful golden knight...the only set I got, this year apart from... 7. 10193 Medieval Market Village. Awesome, design, history accurate, playability, accesorires, minifigs, color scheme. I don't have to say anything else. 8. 7037 Tower Raid. Concept, minifigs, design, playability, color scheme, accesories. Awesome war wagon or kart or whatever the english word is for it. Some design flaws, specially when it comes to the take-down-the-tower features. Great for battle scenery. 9. 8780 Citadel of Orlan. Concept, playability, color scheme. Another very <insert that tiresome argument> set from KKII but from its first year...I must say the KK stuff didn't get me just until a year later of its release...sometimes I regret on buying for example set no. 8781 the Castle of Morcia...nevertheless there are features I do like of it, and the same happens with 8780, but I don't regret of this one. I really love the design concept: a kind of test chambers sequence through the power ranger knights have to test their courage. Really outstanding playability features, great colours, specially for the little vitral, and once it's assembled, looks really great, you can't keep from wanting to move around all the mechanisms. Many big pieces and the power rangers knights though. 10. 8788 Border Ambush. Concept, playability, color scheme, accesories. The little castle featured here it's one of my favorite designed sets, very stupid from TLC not to feature a really good view of it in any of its box art. The bridge, the traps and the stair are really cool too, all in all a very well designed set, except maybe from the thing that throws the rock, it's just not right, so I removed it. Red knight...it's not thaaat bad. Hope we can discuss this maybe in another thread, I agree with the guy that talked about adapting the new sets to make them fit your taste, but I think it's also about adopting them, and I think the Kingdoms ones for 2010 are made for AFOLs, I'll wait for their release and just until I bought and build them I shall judge them just the way I did with the ones I've mentioned above. And please, don't call people stupid or something just because they like things different from you, got enough of that stuff in my own country...
  21. I totally agree with CDC, this is soooo Orient Expedition and soooo Adventurers!! Maybe we won't see them again, but with these sets Lego has totally bought me, what's really attracting me from this theme are its buildings, not looking for new animal pieces, but the golden details, the new archs, general color scheme and minifigs! I wasn't this excited for sooo many new lego sets since 2004!!
  22. OMG!!! This theme is absolutely gorgeous, it's all I ever wanted since I was like 8 years old when I knew about the forest-men ones, but those sets weren't available in mexico...I have even collected the KKII ones (which IMO are not thaaat bad), and this year the Village Market was the OMG-set, and I'm very pleased to see that this new sets are not only adaptable to the Castle-theme ones, but are very accurate and with a beautiful color scheme. Congrats TLC!! now, I can't wait!!
  23. Lovely review! It made me remember the only Ice Planet set that I have, the way I loved its features and playability, it was a space car with a rocket, in fact, very very similar to the one featured in this set (which disappointed me, because that means I got one of the smallest sets), even so what I did like about it was its playability...nowadays I do hate this theme, the excess of plates and plates and plates, the color scheme, those trans-orange pieces...iuw! I don't like them, not even the designs...but back in that times, I really loved my little rocket! Thanks a lot for make me remember that and, I'm sorry, but that won't make me take out of its box the only Ice Planet set I own...it's better that way, hehe
  24. AWESOME! What I see are four FOUR sets of which I had no idea, two seem like trains, the rest I can't tell, but all of them look really nice, waiting for better pics! hoping on castle, harry potter's return and atlantis' shark temple sets..!
  25. KEEPING BOTH THUMBS UP!!!!! In the meantime, I'll keep this as a rumor, but I'm hoping to see more OotP, HBP or at the very least DH sets!!
