  1. Since I haven't seen in the frontpage news anything about this year's Toy Fairs... Does someone know what's about them?? The only photos I've found around the forums are from SW 2008 display.... EDIT by Sinner: Added a description.
  2. Undesirable Number One: Dust, I usually spend about four or five days cleaning my entire collection!! It's something I love to do as long as I do it once I'm back home during the semester's holidays, but actually I would like to spend my time in arraging them better than cleaning dust.... Desirable Number One: Space, My room isn't quite small but my lego collection is too big now, so I have to keep-in-box at least one complete theme by every semester I arrange my collection in scenarios. Other thing that actually bothers me but I actually enjoy doing too is handling sets that should be "floating", like SW, Dragons, Airplanes, Harry on his broom, etc etc...I do this with nylon, so if there's someone who actually has a better idea about this, well, I listen. Cheers from Mexico!
  3. If TLC is always or so like keeping an eye on EB's forums.....why is not taking our opinions in count?!?! That's all I have to say....greetins from Mexico.... P.S. Hey, the only crappy set in this line is the big truck!! *sweet*
  4. More "old-architecture" pieces: -Greek capitels -Classic-like Columns (the column pieces featured at Adventurer's Pharaoh's Forbidden Ruins set are great for that greece intention) -Gothic elements such as arbotants, gargoyles, the "gothic arch" previously showned in this forum and other ornament pieces. You coud use flower-like designs for a gothic MOC or even for an Art Nouveau one. -Better dress molds for the minifigs. The ones that are used for that are also used for roofs!! I mean, TLC should design a more minifig-like dress.
  5. OF COURSE!!! THERE'S NO COLLECTOR WITHOUT THE ORIGINAL BOXES!! I mean, yeah, I don't have the boxes of all my sets, but I think that from the oficial number of sets that I own (Brickset.com informs me that I own 89 sets), I don't have 5 or 6 boxes. And there are about 80 which have the original bags. So, yeah, I keep boxes :-D
  6. *wub* This is definitively a most have set!!! Lovely new pieces, thanks for the pics yoda!! Merry Xmas and happy new year to all the city fans!! *y*
  7. *wub* Magnificent!! Just want to see the facade of the department, it would give it a more realistic sense and it would be a finished work!! Nevertheless, it's great!! Congrats! *y*
  8. Oh my gosh!! *wub* I can't believe it! That ship looks amazing!! And what about Anakin's CW face?! It's a terrific new minifig, new hairstyle wig.....It feels like a new SW Universe to be lego-explored!!
  9. *sing* If the Harry Potter franchise seems to be out of place is TLC's fault! For Goblet of Fire were produced only 4 sets!! One of them very out of place: the Durmstrang's Ship. That was very dissapointing, specially after the Prisoner of Azkaban wave, which was far better than the two previous lines. And, what's all about making only one set for Order of the Phoenix?! I was at least expecting a re-design of Dumbledore's Office! It's true the series grow darker, but the same is with SW, even if that is an excuse, TLC could be designing sets for 9-14, leaving behind a 7-12 line!
  10. Just look at this beauty!!! 7662 Trade Federation MTT *wub* Lovely review, and terrific set!! Welcome to the comunity Brickbitz!! great job, *yoda* has lost another review!
  11. Mr Hobbes, I'm afraid the links you've posted are both unaccesable by the moment, as almost the rest of the ones posted in this forum. Nevertheless, the ones I have accessed are just magnifique!! I am very very sad :'-( about brickshelf's shutdown, there's gotta be a way of sharing this terrific ideas in the future!! By the moment, let's celebrate the old days!! :-D
  12. Cute!!! I was wondering.....how about MOCing spoilers from Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows?! Many of you may regret this...but since there are no movies yet, we can share thoughts MOCing some intense or interesting parts of those books...
  13. Replying a little bit latter: []Tolkien is in the Air!!! Disliking the KK feeling in the design and in almost the entire set Liking the Dwarves and the Troll Loving the minifigs accesories, can't wait for the carts and the new pieces. TLC has designed a must-buy set creating an entire new possibility of playing for the kids and of background story. MOCing possibilities! *wub*
  14. Where did you get this information about someone making a movie for Artemis Fowl?! I mean, if this is true, it's gonna be awesome as long as Harry Potter is about to reach "his" end...but, from my part I know that there hasn't been any adaptation that Eoin Colfer, the author, had accepted yet... And, I can't believe that guys from US don't know who Artemis Fowl is! It just gets better, it is said also that there's a fifth book already in stores, but hasn't reached Mexico yet.... Fowl's Manor would be a great set, but also the Criature's world from book 2, 3 and 4 is far better than the humans' world...The sets would be a mix between the Harry Potter ones and maybe Aquaraiders or Exo Force or something like that, I mean, yeah, they would be awesome! *wub* Just hope that if there's an adaption for a movie, it is not like that piece of megablockish film like it was Eragon... :'-( Those who haven't read Artemis Fowl...read it! It's awesome! *sweet*
  15. Lots of reviews.... And a specially *wub* and must have train station!! Yeah, congrats, *yoda* , for such work with this and the rest of the sets you've been kind enough to review. Hope to see this in Mexico!! *y*
  16. *wub* Can't wait to get it!!! Xwingyoda, you're a sensei on this of making reviews!
  17. Hi there!! I really liked what the Brickster did with this MOC, but unfortunatelly I have to say that this is not a really mexican fortress. You'll see, by the dates you're referring to, which is 1824 more less, Mexico had only 4 years since it became independent from Spain, and the territory was quite big, and as many of you have mentioned ( :'-) thank you for being such followers of my country's history), the goverment was strictly centralist. California (which was as big as the US actual state and the mexican states of Baja California and Baja California Sur) was (and by the way, still is) very different from what really mexican fortresses are like. You may even note this with the image that "promotions" Brickster's beautiful job, you see, the facade is more "mexican" than the one featured in his MOC. What I want to say is that there's a very wrong and dismissed concept of what mexican architecture really is, it's more like a spanish style, style that of course influenced not only Mexico but the rest of US and Latinamerica. That's why the Californian exists, because there's a really big difference between what was produced at Central and South Mexico from what was produced in the North. Mexico is not a vast and wide dessert, so please, don't get confused and asume that only because it has cactus everywhere and a nice dessert-like plate is mexican, Mexico is far distinct from that concept. In Mexico by the same time were built magnificent fortresses and churches which styles go from Barroquian style to Neoclassic one (I hope I write them righ :-) ), but the kind of fortress that is featured is not even close to what Mexico produced by those days. I don't regret this is an excellent MOC with a very like someguy mentioned "Zorro feeling", but the Zorro is not even a mexican legend, the army clothes featured at the Alamo movie are quite different from the Imperial ones that the soldiers used, in fact, please, the Alamo movie is the worst attempt against our national history, please don't think Mexico was that terrible. I know that my country's history is a shame, but I have to stand and defend the really good things that mexicans produce, and one of those things is our Architecture. I really liked this MOC *wub* , but it's more a west-US-style than a mexican one. Since I am mexican, once the summer vacations begin at the university, I'll work on a really mexican MOC, but I'll need very colorful pieces, and, well, you'll see how the 1800's mexican architecture really is. :-D
  18. *wub* Freakingly awesome!!! Still saving money....hope I have time to! *y* Oldies and youngsters, we can finally get together, this is castle!
  19. I want'em all!!! *wub*
  20. Oh my Gosh!!! If I could get 10176, I can get this 10182!!! Oh my, what a set, what a set!!! *wub* This year, my money will cry......but this set shall see mexican territories!!
  21. View-tiful!! *wub* 1) Only that lovely Hogwarts Castle for Harry Potter 5?! This is terrible, I mean, what's wrong with TLC, there's a whole plot behind this one. I could stand the minimum number of sets made for HP4, but now there are again things that are missing such as at least the Department of Misteries, not even talk about the Ministry of Magic, the Dementors's attack over Dudley and Harry, the Centaurs, Number 12 Grimmauld Place....this is very disapointing. By the other hand, I can't wait to have this beautiful castle in my hands, the only megablocking thing about this is the leak of new characters made minifigs. Umbridge is quite impressive, such as its new hairstyle, also Hermione's and new Snape minifig!! The thestrals are also awesome, with two coming in this set, that's also great. Beautiful interiors, complementary exteriors for the general views of the castle from SS and PoA castle sets. :-D 2) I agree with the ones who say that this year's castle theme is awesome and that makes an statement among the traditional and the KK sets. These are really worthy sets which I won't let pass by. Beautiful color scheme and minifigs, also the castle itself looks really neat!! All the sets are worthy, well, maybe the skeleton one is not that attractive and functional, but it includes the princess!! :-D 3) Mission to Mars, well, I am really not excited about this theme, but in general looks like many many kids would love this one, but if you have to make a choice between this and the rest of this year's collections, this is the less worthy. :-/ 4) Golden Tower, I think this is gonna be the first and only set I purchase from Exo Force Collection, well, maybe I get other two, anyway I think 2007's sets are more attractive than last years, with a stronger background history and with mechas even more functional. :-D 5)Why aren't there any pics of the City or Star Wars collections?? Is TLC tired of showing off this beautys?? 6) Aqua Raiders, oh my gosh, this is definitively a must-have collection. Hoping they reach mexican ground pretty soon, and if not, I'll be buying them from ebay.com as usual :-| Thanks for the link Zaktan!!
  22. Lovely, lovely, lovely!!! *wub* Very nice review, and, well, I do pitty those whose sets were incomplete, but posting these facts as if it was the set itself's guilt, I mean, hehehe, that has to be against TRU and not against the set. Anyway, this set looks very well detailed, designed and despite the stickers looks nice to me (If I could handled Ferrari Sets' stickers, I can handle the ones in this set). Very Good work, reviewer and TLC *y*
  23. I don't care, I am a fan of these sets and I'll be getting this one just as many of you have pointed out: because of making a bigger and better Hogwarts Castle. a) There's a part of the castle yet to be revealed, I mean, it looks cut from the pic. Also, there was a prototype in a kind of catalogue like the one in which its shown this but back to the 2004's one. The final product was completely different, in fact, the one that was showed looked like one of the alternative models of that castle. b) If I could stand the first one with that freaking piece of paper as roof and with its very very fragile structure, I can stand this one. <insert that tiresome argument> pieces have been always there. c) I totally disagree with Casewindu: the second one is far far far better than the first one, I think you can't even make a statement between the functions, colors, pieces and estructures if you don't even own your very own one. The worst thing about the second was the selection of minifigs...too common. Nevertheless, the entire set is awesome. :-D running out of money!!
  24. I *wub* don't care, there's always the necesity and dream of making and/or adding more parts to the castles 1 and 2, so, I'll be getting this one, and I do agree with others that the best part are the minifigs. Also hoping to see what has been cut from the pic, yeah! More towers!! Thestrals!! And as I'm hoping to, the Room of Requirement or D.A.'s Headquarters *wub*
  25. Don't care about the Sponge Bob ones.... but the HP ones, yeay!!!! I thought that after the so poor production for goblet of fire, we won't ever see those great sets again, but now, hope reborns!! As in other forums I have said, one of the most horrible sets I have ever had are the ones from the Sorcerer's Stone theme, CoS ones were moreless, but you gotta be kidding if you hate the ones produced for PoA and GoF. I mean, the second Hogwarts Castle is stunning, and when at brickset.com's comunity members were asked which was the best lego set from 2004 (jeje, sorry, I didn't know about EB in that moment), my vote went straight to this Magnificent castle, at least it beated easily the KKII.1 and the first Hogwarts Castle. Then, after seeing the poor but excellent production for GoF, my expectations have been increased for this years' HP set, or sets. (Just hope to see minifigs such as Umbridge, Weasley Family Members, flesh tone Minerva McGonagall, etc). :'-( I don't make the necesary cuantities of money that Lego wants me to have for this year's sets!!!
