Are there plans to make more Harry Potter sets?
gusmoore17 replied to legocylon's topic in LEGO Licensed
I agree!! Maybe there are not too many set-ideas for OotP or HBP because practically the stories take part in Hogwarts, and we've had enough Hogwarts-based sets. But...what about a kind of Ministry of Magic or Department of Misteries sets...or a Cave-like set...? And what about Deathly Hallows movies?! There are lots of places and scenes that would make great Lego sets!! I won't spoil any place but there lots of housing going on in this final chapter and action in those that really deserves a kick! Come on Lego, bring HP back for 2011!! -
What a question!!! Well, I own all of them and I must say I'm really proud of the overall display the three of them make, it's Hogwarts Castle in the end and it's really beautiful...however I shall tell you the cons and pros of them individually: #1 Hogwarts Castle 4709. The one that best resembles the image of the films, with the Gryffindor Tower, the Great Hall and some other torrets...just like the films' one. The color scheme was really awesome and original for being a 2001 set (one of the Lego Group's worst years imo), as well as the minifigs and the construction. However, comparing this with the other 2 editions, it has the weakest construction design (come on, making the Great Hall roof out of paper?!?!) and it also lacks stability and sturdiness. Its features and pieces are not that great...perhaps the only interior feature I really love is the "Library" because it has books, the first time this piece was made into production by Lego. The minifigs were also great, but again those are the most childish and less designed of the three versions. Remember that by the time this one was produced, you had no idea there were gonna be other 3 editions (which I prefer to call "parts of Hogwarts"), so it was really stunning, however, I'll call this one the weakest. #2 Hogwarts Castle 4757. The new image of the films is marked also in the Lego sets with this stunning set that features the clock tower with a mechanism that I haven't seen again in any other Lego set. The color scheme it's taken far away than it's precessor due to the fact that the design is excellent, finally the roof is made up of pieces, plates I must say, but the little pieces that put those in its place it is quite clever. The pendulum, the entrance door along with the entrance gate, the windows and archs...it's a beautiful architectural design in an international gothic style...and it's lego, and it's HP!! But again, it has to do all with the facade and nothing with the interior...there's Trelawney's classroom, well....some sort of...a very clumsy library against the first edition one, the Gryffindor Tower is remade, and I must say it now features beds but...nothing really important...I really love this castle because of its integral design, its stairs, clock, gates...but I won't look for really interior design or features...at least it's design is far better than the first one. The minifigs are its weakness except by Trelawney's one. Also, this edition featured the Dark Tower, Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom and the Witch's corridor... not included here but I own them and I must say that all together it's a pleasure to the eye. #3 Hogwarts Castle 5378. Probably...the best...but alongside 4757...That's because it represents the middle of the castle, all the most important parts of it have already been featured in its predecessors, but this one has some magic about it...finally there's a castle with a double facade or with interior and exterior design. What I liked about this it's that the designers had in mind the events that are about to come, which means there's a new Astronomy Tower and a Trophee Hall with all sort of golden pieces and features that are related with Hogwarts' Houses...I don't wanna spoil anything so I will only say that with this you can arrange scenes from books 6 and 7. Interior design at least!! And what interiors...Umbridge's office, Slytherin bedrooms, statues, chimmney, common spaces, Room of Requirement...but all of them beatifully design and arranged. There's also Hogwarts' Green House, with lovely blackboards and mandrakes!! In general its design, features and playability makes this one probably the best...nevertheless it can't stand alone as long as Great Hall or Clock Tower are featured in #1 and #2. You find out that color scheme it's just between 1 and 2 and the minifigs as someone already has pointed out are the best of all 3...Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco, Dumbledore (sniff sniff), really depressed Snape, Umbridge, Hagrid, Thestrals, Mandrakes, Owls, Bats, Fire-faced Sirius and a Death Eater!! As I said, its weakness comes along with the part of Hogwarts that it's refering...the middle?? Anyway, it's an excellent set. Surely, TLG learned through this 3 versions how to make a beautiful Hogwarts set in the end, but if I had the opportunity I'd buy all of them again as long as I have stayed before because all have ups and downs and together make their way into Hogwarts castle itself!! P.S. Look for this sets at brickshelf.com for better pics and maybe reviews, so you may judge and choose.

I WANT ELVES!!! ...but in the end, as with any other new set/theme, it will depend on the sets themselves, the minifigs, back up story...etc...u know, usual stuff that makes u buy them...

Harry Potter is as dark as Star Wars or Indiana Jones is, even Batman is a little bit darker!!....I still don't see the point in this... But with the anouncement of this game.... I CAN ONLY HOPE FOR HARRY POTTER SETS TO COME BACK!!!! cheers

Keep on working!! These first stages of your work look really awesome, I can't wait for you to complete it! Hoping on seeing some HP and DH sets out!!

Elves and Greeks on!!

WOW!!! Thanks a lot for the link! Not only the Agents report is excellent, the rest of the galleries shown are terrific with really great pics!! I was getting upset about Eurobricks' coverage on Toy Fair 2009.....but I suppose you've saved it! The mechas included in Sinister's set and the Helicopter one remind me of those agents stories from the 50's-60's, even somewhat those remind me of the Watchmen plot... Anyway, really neat and terrific sets...my only complain is about the small ones, It could have been awesome if they included at least the Bank's and the Museum's facades...

Just at the Brickshelf front page type "Space Police 2009" in the search, eh...option?? I don't know which is the word, hehe, sorry, not a dictionary..... Anyway, the first of the pics features both impulse images, it's a catalogue-like pic...hope u find it, it's not that difficult... Regards from Mexico!

Eh...the link attached in previous pages isn't working anymore...had to look over at brickshelf... The officer and dog are both really sweet and neat!!! Both designs look terrific!! However... It's just too city for my taste, and it's not that I don't like City sets (gosh, they're great!!), but I expected something more "galactic", not a futuristic Police subtheme...anyway I really love the design of that little set!! And of course, be waiting for better pics... The Alien thing or whatever it is... just doesn't make sense! It's like those awful and reaaally strange little bag-packed sets of the 90's themes (recalling space themes, some rock raiders, adventurers, aquazone... as far as I can recall some examples) which were just a bunch of pieces with no playability nor design at all...frustrating.. Absolutely waiting for better pics

IMO: I can't say anything about the Troll's Mountain Fortress set simply because you just see a thing from that blurry pic!! Anyway looks quite big, and it resembles the Witch Fortress of the Dark Knights in its general perspective, which is the only thing I can see. No more comments on this. Now, stop all the yelling about the Drawbridge set!!! From the pic, it looks really amazing: its verticality, the pieces that compose it offering various shadows along the building, the entrance ramp with its archery....come on, from the again blurry pic it looks really great!! Far better than the KKIII one...I'll wait for better pics, but by the moment I'm looking forward for this one. The chariot....what the..?? I was hoping to see a chariot like the 90's one (I can't remember its name..) but from what I can tell from the pic it has nothing to do with that one...it really looks horrible...I am also expecting better pics Don't forget all these are preliminary, so nothing's sure yet! regards from mexico! merry xmas by the way

Hi there! I am from Mexico and I need some information about your city, focusing on the zones that sorround Fiera Milano City (the old one in which Zaha Hadid, Liebeskind and Isozaki are working on). This info is for an urbanist exercise, so if you could help me giving me any information about costumes, people, activities, building types, etc. around the area or even a link to the Urban Development Plan, I will be very thankful. Thanks in advance!!

Ingenious MOCs of the Olympic games in Beijing
gusmoore17 replied to lego townie's topic in LEGO Town
OMG!!! I have no words enough to describe these MOCs!! Unbelievable......they're soooooo freaking great!!! -
Lovely!! I can't stop making comparisons between this fire station and last year's, which is also very well detailed, with great features and awesome playability. The concept design of the second one it's very much like the one reviewed here. This is good as TLG is taking back those great values to make the new excellent sets we all are enjoying by now!

We want the amazing 4999 Vestas Wind Power Plant!
gusmoore17 replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Town
I'm signed! Even if it's even more imposible for me, a mexican AFOL..... anyway, lovely set, if I could get one!! -
IMO, the Shrieking Shack set is awesome, it has lots of features and its building it's more less like the Arkham Asylum one, evidently with its huge differences like the chimmneys (2 of them), and the candy store which name I can't reply now. The candy store it's lovely, has lots of features I don't see in other sets like the lollipops, maybe the apples and cherries you can get them somewhere else, but that lollipops!! And also features Wormtail minifig, as well as the graveyard. But... when it was released, I couldn't bought the Graveyard set and it also seems to have lots of detail: the tombs and that magnificent tree with old and new tones of brown! And it features not only Wormtail, but Voldemort and a Death Eather! (but IMO the Death Eather from the Order of the Phoenix castle is better). The chapel is also a very nice touch! You can make your choice also based in which set has the minifigs you want or the pieces you need for MOCing, if you decide not to buy the Graveyard, let me know, I'm still looking for it!!

Thanks a lot for the bigger pics!! OMG!! These sets are so freaking amazing, specially the platform!! Hope it makes its way to Mexico!!

Any news or photos on Toy Fair London or NYC??
gusmoore17 replied to gusmoore17's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Oh my God!!! It's really sad to confront the reality: Harry Potter sets are no longer been made.... As some have posted, it's something we saw coming since last year's only one set, but there's always hope. But, what about the dark tones on SW III, for example?? TLC must reconsider making HP sets, they were great, maybe the first two years weren't that great, but the rest were just amazing! So many possibilities Lego is leaving if HP is about to see its finish... It was a great pleasure Harry!! *y* -

This year, Lego is making me very very poor...... Amazing sets for this year!! Despite some of the Agents sets and the out-of-scale cars of the City sets, there are very very promising and must-have sets!! *y* -
F*$%&!! This is the way TLC should go!!! No further discusion....

Agents interior looks great!!! SW animaized minifigs are not that bad, and there's always the option of displaying the ones that look awesome (I mean, keeping obi and anakin in their boxes) Can't wait for more pics on this line and the rest that haven't been showed!! -

Yeay!! This is great news, I mean, I didn't even know when the NYC Toy Fair was going to be, and as I said, there are only SW CW pics from London... So, patience..... *sweet*
