[MOC] 90s Britpop band Suede (or London Suede in the USA)
jp-30 replied to jp-30's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks I have just realised the top of the round part of the "d" should also use a 1/4 round rather than a square. Will switch that piece out. -
A friend of mine (who is not a fan of Pink Floyd) asked me to make him his favourite band, Suede out of LEGO. Awaiting his feedback and suggestions, but pretty happy with how it's shaping up. [MOC] Suede (London Suede) 1990s alternative / britpop band in LEGO by jp-30, on Flickr.

I grabbed the ones I had from the Death Star, plus some from M-Tron bulk sets, and then learned the green spring shooter dart was much easier to acquire to fill out the laser show.
-
I built this Pink Floyd concert MOC as an amalgam of the classic late-period arch and circle stage setup, using an iPad as a backdrop scene / video effects panel, and a UV light to make the lasers and circle glow. Also it's post Live 8 where Roger may have accepted an offer to tour one more time with the (arguably) classic lineup. A little nod to Syd in the green backdrop (Shine On You Crazy Diamond).

Yep, I just figured that out, thanks, and apologies for any confusion.

There's definitely a Big Bird and Count, and the back opens up of the building to show a bunch of rooms. May even be a Super Grover, hard to tell...

Brilliant work, as always!

OK, that was a fun build, couple of colour swaps and whatnot, but happy to have enough on hand to finish a 99% approximation of 75294. Totally not worth the eBay + shipping prices though to have an actual copy. Here are some Bespin Gantry comparisons between my recreated 75294, part of my 75222, and part of my 10123. This is great! Well done. :)

A couple of red-eyed 'trolls' in a new Monkie Kid set to add some colour variation to your armies. Looks like they may be reversible faces too. https://www.lego.com/en-my/product/monkie-kid-s-cloud-roadster-80015

Thanks for the feedback. I know what you're saying, I think a little tweak of the 'neck' area might improve things. mkIII sometime! :p He's pretty wide, but maybe I should go back and make the 'hips' narrower, somewhere between the first and latest solution And yeah, I'm really happy with the backdrop, though I do need to better hide the planet struts better next time I photograph it.

These are, dare I say it. FAB!

I redesigned my earlier Robby the Robot MOC. I based the scene on the Forbidden Planet movie poster (1959), and got in an adult Belville doll as the damsel. Trying out some sculpting and SNOT techniques - still a bit lumpier than I want, but getting there. [MOC] Kermit the Frog bust by jp-30

My Herbie the Love Bug colour swap and minor roof mod of the Creator VW Beetle 10252. It has painted fenders which I will swap when LEGO finally make that piece in white. I got all excited when I saw the white fenders in Pigsy's Food Truck Monkie Kid set... alas they're not the same piece. Bananas for scale. :p

There's a new Sand Green Ninjago troll that might be able to be utilised to add more variation to the population. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=njo603#T=S&O={"rpp":"100","iconly":0}

A 16x16 vignette of Ripley vs. the Alien Queen from the 1986 movie "Aliens". Some of the images show the scene deconstructed, and some just show the Alien and Ripley's power loader by themselves. New nose... and the beginnings of a friend (or enemy, hard to tell). [MOC] Beaker nose job by jp-30, on Flickr
-
Thanks! I'm glad it looks simple, as it should being based on a tube, red hair and a couple of ping pong balls. But there's a lot of hidden SNOT work to get the mouth right, and some tricky attachment points for the eyes and nose. :)
-
Thanks! I still have a few tweaks to Beaker I think (fatter nose, though the limited colours available are difficult to achieve what I want), and yep, as you've no doubt seen on FB, currently working on a Bunsen Honeydew to pair up.
