Hi everyone. I would like to make a small quantity of basic TIE fighters out of common and readily available parts, hopefully using the cockpit from the recent Vader's TIE set as a starting point. Can anyone reccomend a nice, simple TIE design to use? I'm hoping to make something similar to the original TIE ship TLC released back in the late Nineties, but I don't want to use their design as I feel it's a little too fragile for my purposes. Thanks in advance, regards Will/Rocketbilly

True, but in past Battlepacks we've got a weapon for every fig. And what if the vehicle breaks downor gets destroyed...how does the pilot defend themselves then? I suppose they could hit the enemy over the head with their oversized-yet-still-movie-accurate helmet...but that's for a few pages back =] Will/Rocketbilly

Wishful thinkng, friend. Whilst that would be aweosme, it's unlikely. Lego would do far much more business selling a wave of six canisters than one huge, expenive set. Unless you're saying as well as the canisters? I just can't see Bionicle going on without the traditional two lots of canisters a year....it just...doesn't make sense to me. Will/Rocketbilly

Speaking of the battlepacks, it appears that there's not a blaster for every fig - I can only count three blasters per BP. I hope it's just me, and there actually are enough blasters for all the figs....can anyone hopefully prove me wrong....please? I can see three in the rebel BP - pilot has one, and the two soldiers have long blasters. The guy on the vehicle appears to be unarmed. Same for the Imperial BP - There are two short blasters clipped to the missile platform thing, and one of the snowtroopers is carrying one. The only thing I can think of is that the other blasters are "Hidden" - perhaps clipped to the vehicles, like we've seen a few times before. Will/Rocketbilly

Is it just me, or will it be a little more difficult to collect the "Baddie" figs with this theme? With Space Police, you get one of the more collectable "Baddies" in each set, except, of course, for the one impulse. Sure, Snake's repeated a lot but you STILL get the fig. From what I've seen for Atlantis, you only get them in a few sets, am I correct? I don't think there's one in any of the sets below what I presume is £10 - apart from the impulse we've ehard of, that is. I hope I'm proven wrong. Will/Rocketbilly

Great review. I remember many variations of this set....the Ninja one with the Shogun, the Knight's Kingdom one with King Leo.... I share the same thoughts about these kind of sets as many members do; I wish they still made them. It's a shame, that TLC restricts itself so much with their sizes and prices. But I suppose they have to maximise profit. Either way, a lovely set from the not-so distant past. And waht's up with that alternate build, with the knight with a brick between his torso and his hips? Looks like he's been interrogated onthe rack! Will/Rocketbilly

I'd imagine it's because they're far more complicated than the older consoles before them. I suppose the more sophisticated something is, there's a greater chance for something to go wrong. Which is a shame really, you'd think they'd find some way to make them more robust. But again, a fair chunk of problems are software related. But it's hard to dowload a patch when your machine wont turn on in the first place Will/Rocketbilly

Thanks a lot, that's really put my mind at ease. I'll be doing that as soon as I get a USB device that can hold all my data I know this is a bit off topic, but if you haven't played it yet, I really reccomend Far Cry 2, if you're into that kind of stuff. A really great game, pretty intense. Will/Rocketbilly

Yeah. I've always stuck with Sony consoles, since I got one of the old chunky PS1's for my Birthday years ago.....then I got my PS2 which I killed, then upgraded to the slimline version. And now of course, I'm onto my PS3 and I love it. It's such a flexible machine...I just dowloaded Nosferatu from the Internet archive, and it plays fine. Which is why I love it. Personally, I think that the 360 is overrated. It relies on online gaming and exclusive content too much, I think. Though that may just be my Sony bias coming through Siegfried, how does one go about making backup files for our beloved machines? reading these horro stories has got me all flustered over my console now

Damn, what a shame. Sorry to hear about this. Though I can offer very little help which hasn't already been offered, I wish the best of luck to you! If my PS3 had this, I wouldn't be able to bring myself to send it off to be replaced. It sounds weird, but iget very attached to a specific object, and wont let go of it no matter what. It might be a working PS3, but it's not MY PS3 The thought of someone else playing MY prescious console after it's been gutted and re-distributed by Sony makes my stomach churn I've wasted a lot of money like that. This is superb. Absolutley splendid. I really like the MOC - and is it just me, or does old grey really remind you of tarmac in the rain? A far better colour than the newer shade of grey. Fantastic work. Love the use of the adventurer's head for the woman too; that was my favourite head as a kid. Will/Rocketbilly

Ah, thanks for pointing that out. I see it now, with the 1x1 slops pieces. I really like it! Will/Rocketbilly

Well done. It's beautiful! I have an OCD where the "main character" in any of my themes vehicle has to be black. So this is right up my street. 'Specially since the X-Wing is my favourite SW fighter, and Blacktron my favourite Classic Space sub theme! five stars and two thumbs up from me! P.S - is the fighter a MOC of your own, or a TLC set built in different colours? kind regards, Will/Rocketbilly

Really, I'd like anything from The Force Unleashed, as that game has re-kindled my old Star Wars obsession. Galen marek in a new outfit would be great. Or a set with a lot of blasters. I find if you lose a blaster, then you're pretty much missing a soldier, as you tend to only get one per soldier......and a soldier without a blaster is...well..toast! Not as elaborate as some people have said, but...I still doubt such a set will get made. Will/Rocketbilly

just a thought...what if the apparent "EXO TOA" set is real~ large box set for summer perhaps- it could be eesigned to be used with the stars sets. but i personally think this set wont come to be.

Yeah. I remember those. I think there was speculation that gears were returning, when people saw the life counter pieces. I also remember seeing Malum, and thinking at first he was a Titan set. And the upside down zamor launchers. I wonder how radically different the prototypes will be this time round? I don't recall any prototype legends sets yet, but maybe they'll get shown at an upcoming event, or perhaps on the Legend Reborn DVD? But I'm just guessing, as usual. Thanks for clearing that up, anyway. Will/Rocketbilly

Damn! bad luck! My favourite toyshop has both the older y-wing and the newer one. It felt like quite a novelty being able to compare them. Some branches of ToyMaster have 20% off a few sets, and I mean a few - there were four in my local branch - all of them big ones. City combine harvester, racers multi story garage thing, creator family house and one of the larger Technic sets. Sorry i can't be more precise. Been a long day Will/Rocketbilly Reason for edit: deleted duplicate paragraph.

Yeah, good idea. Brings back memories of last year, when I was lurking here and the first catalogue pics of the Glatorian surfaced. I reecall they were a tad earlier than usual? Am I right in saying this is the trade catalogue you're talking about? Will/Rocketbilly

I really like the sea monsters, with the exception of the shark guy. The others look menacing (as far as Minifigs can) and rather creepy. Shark guy, on the other hand. (I shall name him George) - just looks like a bloke with a shark hat on. Maybe it'll change when I see him closer up but...not at the moment. It actually reminds me of something - if anyones interested, watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mac73rR_eAg this video - it's an awful song, but features a cameo from the shark man!* Though that song may destroy your brains. But I wont get too off topic Will/Rocketbilly * sort of

I think what we'll get this year will be nothing different, with added Bionicle Stars. So basically, Winter: 6 Bionicle Stars, 6 Normal Small Sets as usual, 6 Canisters and the usual boxed sets we get at the start of a year. Summer: 6 canister sets, Large boxed sets as usual, most probably vehicles again. Of course, my theory could be totally incorrect, but I doubt Lego would alter their release pattern too radically. I mean TLG have released extra sets alongside their main sets - Toa Hagah anyone? They were essentially another two canister sets released surplus to the usual lot of two waves of canisters, weren't they? So I can see the "Stars" being a wave of six sets released alongside the wave of normal small sets - so that makes twelve small sets, as predicted. But I could be wrong about the canisters, after all, For all I know there's already bean a leaked list of canister names. Enough rambling for now, it probably makes no sense to you guys - Sorry! Regards Will/Rocketbilly

Loving what I've seen so far! But I'm a bit worried about the octopuss guy - about how the minifig torso attaches to the tentacle bottom half...I hope the bottom half doesn't just have normal studs on it, like we get for, say, the dresses for female minifigs - I'd rather it have the "pegs" that go into the torso, like we get on the hips for normal minifig legs. I think having that extra stability would make a good fig great. I hate attaching torsos to standard studs. Its fine for display, but for play value it's just too flimsy. And call me stupid if you must, but I really for the life of me can't work out the price range for these sets by looking at them - the smallest set, for example looks too big for an impulse, but too small for the average £4 set.... This is the first underwater theme I've liked for a LONG while - since Mission Deep Sea, actually. Will/Rocketbilly

A good offer, specially as my Girlfriends cousin works at boots, so I can ususally get a discount if I order through her....has anyone noticed the Power Miners rock Wrecker seems to be going for £22? I'm sure it's supposed to be about £40.So one could get three rock wreckers for the price of one, theoretically. Now that's got to be either a mistake or a real bargain And thanks for telling us about this offer =] Will/Rocketbilly

Thanks ADHO15 and Skipper24 for answering my questions so quickly! Steering fins! that's the word I was looking for..I was going to say "Rudder".....but that'll probably earn me a slap outside the Pirates forum I just realised how badly my typing sucked in my last post. Serves me right for using my girlfriend's laptop! My favourirte 2010 set so far, apart fromt he Battle Packs, is the Land Speeded - a favourite vehicle of mine, with an awesome selection of figs. Bit on the large side though, but personally I think that's permissable. Will/Rocketbilly
