Eurobricks structure, moderating, member involvement and more
SMC replied to SMC's topic in Forum Information and Help
I think we are moving further and further away from how Lego splits up different lines. If you are talking about MOCs and parts then I think that Friends has a lot more in common with Disney princesses than it does with city. A lot of AFOLs don’t like minidolls and would like to see it have its own theme for those that do. I do feel sorry for those that enjoy minidolls as their Mocs and chat get lost in City, Licence and now History. Most supermarkets don’t even have the minidoll lines in with Lego so they don’t see this crossover appeal. As someone who spends a lot of time in history I really don’t want to see a Friends line there. We even have a friends moderator, I would have thought a friends/minidoll forum would be a no brainer. -
And the positive of the heath ledger joker is he is a clone too I think we have all brought into the moral Lego angle too much. I am not sure I would put them in my list of 16 saying that.

I think we make too much out of these controversial characters, people thought the Simpsons were too controversial for Lego but here they are.

The point of having different themes is so that things are easy to find and so that things of a similar interest are in the same place. There is little point in having friends in with city, Disney princess with super heroes and elves with LOTR. People that like friends will most likely be interested in princess and elves. The minidoll is new a new subset of Lego aimed at girls unlike city, super heroes and LOTRs that have more in common with each other then they do with the minidoll themes that now sit with them. I can see why at first there would be a conversation about where friends sat but now it has become established with its own subthemes I think we can safely start a new theme for it as we know it is here to stay. As for super heroes, Star War is not in the space forum but LOTR/Hobbit is in history forum. What is the difference, size and longevity. So the question is has Super Heroes become big enough to have its own theme. I think the case is help by Lego telling us that it is now evergreen like city, star wars, castle and space, the latter two don't even have any sets in 2015 but we know the next two years will be very big for SH with avengers 2 and batman v superman. License will also be getting Jurassic World (or will it go in Action along with Dino) and it does look like Lego is liking licenses at the moment so there could be others on the way. I think sometimes we need to be a little more adaptable, if SH were not in license then that might have been a better place for the Lego movie. -

I don't think people really post just to get their count up. Edit: 1000 post -
Welbeck, it just shows our desperation that I am kind of happy with it.

In my opinion it is not a fun or long build but it does look good once made, given the lack of LOTR sets I guess you have to get what we can.

As the line goes on longer and we see more repeats I hope we start to see a lot more battle damaged mini figures. -
Arsene Wenger stop posting under your pseudonym and getting signing players.

Just a last thought, now that Super Heroes is evergreen and looks to be getting bigger should it get its own theme and free up the license theme for Jurassic World. Edit: Friends could also get its own theme too, just find its a bit of an odd duck with minidolls and all. -

Thanks ZCerberus I have spent a lot of my time in history because of LOTR and Hobbit, when I first joined it was almost the only place I would post. I think that it does show that the moderating is different in the different parts of the site. Although as you say I am very active in History I have not really had any problem with the moderation and I don't think as many topics are locked. My spelling is not the best and there are times when I reread one of my post and think what was I trying to say and I am happy that the mods have not picked me up on it as I do try but don't always get it right. I am surprised that from the poll it does not look like people want more of a say, you bring up splitting the LOTR and Hobbit topic, I was not a fan at the time because I think like most people that read the LOTR topic also read the Hobbit topic so having it one place made it easier for me. Sometimes it seems people want something just because a couple of people short it all the time but a nice poll can clear it up. But its not a problem that we now have 2 topics and I can understand why it happened. We did have the famous you cant make proper Minas Tirith for under a million pound debate but it never really bothered me as I just moved on if I was not interested. Anyway we will not have this problem for long, History might become a lot easier for you with the end of the lines. Very much off topic but would you consider front page-ing the LOTR petition? I know it wont do anything but it makes us all feel better. -
Falcao! Falcao! Falcao! Well we still have sanogo so I am sure we will do well.
-
Yes I would think so although the dino T-Rex cant be far off and it might not be long before it is beaten by the D-Rex in Jurassic World.

So it looks like there are two free winter sets this year like the ones we got last year. The first one is in October with purchases over $99 and goes with Santa's Workshop. The second you can get on black Friday and is the Skating scene.
-
I know everyone is talking about sets but we have no reason to believe that we are getting any do we?

I think that's the best point, the whole family again is a bit boring as it is but the church outfits are not as existing as bartman or new characters.

Ok so I am not going to quote but go back and read all the posts in this topic and then find the one that might be considered slightly rude and unnecessary. I know that mods have a hard job and will probably become frustrated at times (for good reason) but as staff they should be the best behaved. There is a reason that I was hesitant to post this topic and it is because sometimes you do not get the best reaction from mods. I do feel sometimes that the mods need to be moderated as much as the rest of us because they have more power. Another question if I report a post what happens? -
REVIEW: 71007 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12
SMC replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The Wizard would have looked a lot better with a white beard. The Space Miner has too many colors, why did they do the arms that color. Best thing about the Jester is the cards. Genie Girl is not that exciting, think a evil genie would have been more fun.- 156 replies

I didn’t say it in my post but I do love eurobricks I used to read it all the time before becoming a member and now I am on it most days. The reason I like it is because it’s not too hard to navigate and there are a lot of good conversations going on. I have also PM a few mods and they have all been very nice. But every now and then I see something that I don’t like and I wonder how many other felt the same way. One of the reasons I thought it might be a good idea to just have one topic and not to renew it each year was so that people would not try to open the next year’s topic prematurely. I have seen Lady as a rank and wondered why it just stayed as Lady even when they had lots of posts, so should we rank our Ladies (have Lady ranks). I am surprised by some of the poll results, maybe I should keep adding questions until I find one people agree with One of the questions I wanted to ask was how do people become staff? -
lol the whole of Manchester. This game week is good so far.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
SMC replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
An orange armour would have been good, the one we are getting is a little boring but being plan could be useful to some people. I agree that I am less enthusiastic about this series and will just be picking up the ones that fit with the ones I have got in the past.- 1,109 replies
