I know no one cares, but I got a 1340 on the GRE. It's not a terrible score (perfect is 1600), but I was kinda aiming for at least 1400. I'm not sure I should take it again though, since most schools just average your scores, and it's $150 to take it again. Oh and thanks to everyone else who wished me a happy birthday.

Hey I'll take a perfect score over a thousand LEGO sets (actually that would be a hard decision ). And yes, most all graduate schools here in the States require you take this, so it's kind of big deal if you plan on applying to some of the more selective schools.
-
Thanks guys, I really do appreciate it. Unfortunately I spent all my birthday studying for the GRE, so hopefully it will be worth it in the end.

I had originally planned to dress up as Zorro, but unfortunately it looks like gathering all the necessary pieces for the costume is our of my budget. At least my roommate is going to do Stalin, that should be interesting.

My parents use it to make calls/videochat to El Salvador, but I don't have a webcam or headset or anything like that so I don't personally use it much. And all you people complaining about calls being dropped, what do you expect for free?

How does the old saying go, if you aren't cheating you're only cheating yourself? I'm going this Saturday, we'll see how lucky I am (I'm guessing not very).

I think you got tricked into thinking those are real LEGO treats, but they don't have the LEGO wording on the studs so I think they are clone treats. All kidding aside, they sound (and look!) delicious, wish I had the patience and supplies to do something like that.

Yes, that's exactly what I am saying. Someone doesn't buy a Mercedes if they aren't well off (or they shouldn't), because as you said one should know when to spend one's hard earned money or when to restrain when that money isn't there. With my parents emigrating to the United States over 30 years ago, I know all about hard work; even with my dad working 3 jobs all of his life he still doesn't drive around in a $80k car. Maybe it's a difference in culture, but I've been taught all my life to be frugal, at times out of necessity. What's the point of having nice things if it means you are burdened with a monthly payment you can barely afford? If you can manage to fully pay a car off with cash on the spot, then yes I'd say you are pretty well off. Maybe when I'm a professional in the workforce earning considerably more than I am right now I'll finally commit to investing $60k in an automobile, but for now my opinion stands (as wrong and relative as it may be). Did that help to clear up some of the confusion?

All this talk about emissions testing...you guys should just move to Alabama, where there is no testing to be found! Due to the global economic recession (that's what I am blaming it on at least), I'm probably stuck with my little old car for a while longer barring me winning the lottery. In reality I'm going to grad school instead of diving straight into the job market, and unfortunately I don't sleep on piles of cash.

Welcome Brittany, hope you have a great time looking around...there's a lot of great MOC's out there!
-
Welcome to Eurobricks! My sisters also loved My Little Pony, and I'm sure they still do even today (I may or may not have played with them back in the day *shifty eyes*). I see you have the old school ones, now that my niece is starting to play with them people have gotten her the newer ones that have come out, but those just seem odd. I'm sure you'll find plenty of things that interest you here (as you've probably already discovered), so welcome again!

Does this mean you can only buy 1 set of $30 or more, or can you buy a combination of lower value sets that add up to at least $30?
-
Haha, the expressions in this MOC are priceless; nice use of the Jester's double sided head, I would be crying too if I just got beat by a small boy!
-
Alright, the ostriches come in a sub $20 set! I'll most likely end up getting the two cheapest sets, but honestly I have to see some pictures before I make up my mind.

I'll echo the general feelings about the Family House, I'll definitely end up getting it at some point. Great combination of colors, even though I've never seen a real life home with a dark blue roof. The others aren't exactly something I would but but still well designed in my opinion. I'm guessing the baseplates for the family home are two 16x32's judging by the other pics, wonder why they didn't go for just one 32x32?

Now I don't know your background in orbital mechanics so I'll refrain from giving you too much flack, but the truth of the matter is you're throwing out terms left and right that don't exactly match up with the actual physics/mathematics behind celestial body motion. But to the actual topic at hand, we'll see where this leads. I agree this probably isn't the best use of money our government is spending at the moment, but it might lead to a discovery (or at least debunk some theories). I'm sure the scientists and engineers at NASA have scrupulously done their homework about all possible outcomes of such a procedure......right?

And attacking him and calling him names is the epitome of respectfulness I presume? We all have our opinions, and people display these opinions in different manners; asking someone to conform to a certain way of proclaiming said opinions seems a bit counterproductive in the grand scheme of things, don't you think? As for the line itself, I couldn't care less for the big, red vehicles and brick-built monsters. They all seem to look the same to me, so I'll probably end up skipping most if not all of these sets. Some of the figs do seem special, however, and I could definitely incorporate some of the new heads into Castle/City MOCS. I'm not much of an underwater MOCer, so I'm not sure how much usefulness I could get out of the scuba gear; it would be nice to collect at least one of each of the Atlanteans, though.

I dunno, it might come in handy one day, I'm not sure if I would trash it; maybe just keep it somewhere separate from your other LEGO. But yes Megablocks does make smaller bricks, just look at their Halo line.

They looked dark flesh to me, but honestly pig hues vary a bit so it really doesn't matter that much. I think this is the first time I've been more excited for the animals in a theme than the actual sets.
-
I love how you made them all unique by giving them different hair/heads Sandy. As for the poll, I probably have maybe half (I'd have to check for sure later). I'm missing all the HP ones, the Orc "princess", and a couple other odd ones here and there. And as for the height thing, I think it's a bit odd that they're taller than the usual male minifig as well; I usually tend to avoid girls taller than me, but maybe minfig guys don't mind as much?
-
Trust me, us "Alabama people" aren't all like that, but they do a really good job of editing that piece!

Another ~$10 Bricklink order, though I really need to get an Advent Calendar for my niece before they sell out.

Haha that ostrich is awesome, though I would have liked to have seen a saddle fit it as well. Slowly but surely LEGO is making more molded animals, maybe now they can finally make that Zoo subtheme!

I thought it was the Visigoths, though they all came from the same group I believe. I used to know a lot about ancient Roman history back when I took Latin in high school, but unfortunately it's gotten pretty murky since then. I still enjoy listening about them though, it must have been amazing (both in a good and bad way )living during that time period.

I just got done watching the pilot episode of Flash Forward; it has a lot of potential, and I look forward to seeing where the writers take the story.
