James May to build life size lego house!
posades replied to allanp's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Saw the BBC story on my Firefox headlines yesterday. I'm wishing him good luck, though I'm not sure how sturdy those hollow super-sized bricks are gonna be. Going to be interesting to see how he does the roof. -
Yep think he said in another post that it was an IS-F; really nice looking car, though maybe he should have brought along an SUV of some sort.

Have fun in Puerto Rico, don't ever forget your scuba gear though!

Was going to mention my Target had restocked the Republic Fighter Tank, but I'm glad someone already found out about that. They had maybe 8 or 10 left, but I didn't pick one up. They also had most of the new wave, didn't look long enough to see exactly what they had since I was in a hurry.

Another bad aspect is that you have to pay taxes now on sets you buy from S@H (at least you do here in the United States). I'll probably be going back to the B'ham store sometime this week, I'll need to pick a day/time when it's less hectic though.

Bought the "All the Money Pain can Buy" album from Fastball at my local library for $1, so I've been listening to that. 'The Way' is still an awesome song, but I don't care too much for the other ones yet (listened to maybe half the CD).

Clearance sales like these make me angry. My local Walmarts and Targets never mark down LEGO sets that much; I went to my Target the other day and nothing, not even one marked down set. Oh well, congrats to everyone who did find one.

Nice little scene, I agree the dark green/white combo suits the canopy well. Maybe the vendor should stick to selling capes seeing as his produce isn't up to snuff.

I'm not sure about the cracking, maybe your supply line is getting bad pieces/figs? All of my sets I have purchased recently (past couple years to present) haven't cracked yet and neither have my older sets except for a couple torsos (because I was taking off the arms the wrong way). I live in a relatively humid state in the Southeast where it gets pretty warm, so who knows.

Disney classics sounds like a great idea, though I'm not sure they would be willing to make new heads/pieces just for one set. Maybe if they kept the figs kind of generic and used pieces that were already available this could be possible, hopefully they can get it done.

I went to the Riverchase Galleria store today to check it out. I must say it's smaller than I expected, it was pretty crowded in there with all the customers and 50 employees (ok it wasn't that many but it sure did seem that way ). Didn't manage to look too closely at the PaB wall or the build-a-fig station but I may stop by there another day when I have more time. I'm pretty sure they aren't looking for anymore workers, hopefully they still need some volunteers for the grand opening though.

That's what I thought, and it is perfectly acceptable. For no pay that is quite a good job they are doing! How long does it take for an issue to come out, is it a set date or whenever there are enough articles/content?

Love it, discovered this magazine a couple months ago and I have read every issue since then. I especially like the articles you have on building trees, I always have trouble with those and some of the techniques that are explained in the magazine are great (you should keep that feature a regular in the magazine). One minor problem I see is the translation to English; sometimes the sentence structure and syntax of the articles isn't perfect. Who is doing the translation for you guys? It's really not that big of a deal and it's still readable; maybe for your intents and purposes you don't need a perfect translation which is fine.

Did you already send a message telling him/her what you are missing? That's the first thing I would do; usually they are pretty nice about it. They may give a partial refund or give you a discount on your next order and send the missing pieces with it.

How is administrating plants a step up? All jokes aside, congrats Siegfried (if you could call more work a boon).

Came back from my trip yesterday, and I'm disappointed to find out that an away status hasn't been implemented yet ( ). The badge idea is a good one, though isn't the "Most active in" part of your profile kind of the same thing?

Is that the Rise of Taj? If so I watched that the other day; it was actually better than I expected, though I didn't expect much to tell you the truth.

I was wondering the same thing; maybe reduced quality or something of that nature? -
Some Odd and Interesting Pieces for Trade/Sell!
posades posted a topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I was going through my collection earlier and came across some pieces that I hardly ever use; I'm sure someone can find uses for some of these. I'm willing to trade or sell, doesn't matter to me. Just PM me or respond here and we'll see where it goes; I have a trade thread here if anyone wants to see what else I have to trade or what I might want. I live in the US but I'm open to trading (almost) anywhere in the world. Picture #1 Miscellaneous pieces with some black tread. Picture #2 Castle type pieces. Picture #3 Some Bionicle(?) pieces. Picture #4 No, Jar-Jar isn't for sale, I just wanted a size comparison. -

The first picture, whung, seems to be Holiday related as well (a candle of some sort, though it does look a bit "blocky"). -

Definitely getting the Minifig Collection (mainly for the Forestman and Santa ). Is there anything special with the last two chrome blocks, i.e. magnets? Seems kind of odd for TLG to just be selling 2 chrome blocks. -
LEGO Pirates Tic Tac Toe - includes 10 minifigures!
posades replied to The Cobra's topic in LEGO Pirates
Looks great; honestly all I want is the Pirate wench and all those tiles (and the baseplate could come in handy as well). I'll be picking one up for sure and maybe selling off the other figs since I don't really collect the Pirate line. -
That sounds great Jordan S., unfortunately my classes have started by then but I should be able to drive down that weekend and possibly volunteer Saturday. I'll send an email a little later; is that your email address or somebody's from the store? As for Vulcan, I just want to say I called it. Maybe they'll give us some rare colors, though I'm thinking it will most likely just be red-brown.

What was your last and or favorite video game you have played?
posades replied to user's topic in Culture & Multimedia
The game I'm currently playing right now is Chrono Trigger for the DS. I missed the original on SNES, but I can see why it was such a hit; I love it so far! -
I know I'm late to the party but I just wanted to give my opinion. As far as the PoP figs go, pretty much standard fare and what I expected. The new heads and headgear will be much appreciated, and new animals are always a plus. As for Toy Story, I think they chose this direction with younger fans in mind. Sure TLG could have made them all standard minifigure size with regular heads, but I think this way they look more like their "real life" counterparts on the movie screen. I personally won't be getting any of the Toy Story sets for the figs (besides Bullseye ), but I can see them being popular sellers.
