  1. Hah, this is actually pretty cool! A nice little speeder that I can see zipping between the buildings on Curuscant. Great entry. I love the color choices and the over all lack of hard edges. The smoothness really works well!
  2. In my experience no. And I have a vast collection of trans 1x1 round studs as it was a readily available PAB option when I first started collection and I've built a LOT of silly things with them.

    Earth Hour

33 minutes away and my family and I will be celebrating it here in Southern California!
  4. This is old news. There is already a thread ripe with speculation on this news.
  5. Yeah, it might more or less make up for the tremendous TRU markup.
  6. I'm anticipating earlier for the first wave, then about June or July for the ones we saw at the Toy Fair. But I'm just going by the fact that I got Power Miners, Pirates, the new Farm sets, and the new construction sets nearly 2 months early.
  7. Wow, I must say, that's actually a really impressive MOC in LDD. I'm always a bit skeptical when I clink links for LDD creations as sometimes the quality of the build gets lost in translation. But this one makes me really desire to see it built in stunning, glossy ABS Also, I want to second Hinckley's motion to add a two-car garage. That seems to be the only thing it is lacking, other than perhaps a fleshed out and landscaped yard.
  8. Great find on these new pictures. I really think we'll be seeing these sets pop up at LEGO exclusive stores sooner rather than later. But, time will tell if I am right.
  9. I always like LEGO concepts incorporated into pop-art. Cool find!
  10. I love this MOC. If it were an official set, I'd certainly buy it. I love the details. All in all, this is a well done creation.
  11. It's meant not to highlight LEGO themes, necessarily, but areas of the LEGOLAND California theme park. Thus the omission of Star Wars.
  12. I was there on Saturday as well, pretty awesome.
  13. Maybe in your MOCs, but I have seen purple used to great success in many MOCs. I suggest you look around, as the MOC title usually includes mention of the color purple because using it to true success dictates a great deal of attention. I personally love all of the LEGO colors, as colors are what make LEGO great.
  14. This is simply incredible.
  15. This is absolutely incredible. Definitely one of the best entries to the contest I have seen thus far. The competition is definitely getting tougher, but I don't think you have to worry about yours being anything less than one of the top contenders. I understand the parameters of the contest dictate the construction of an interior scene but I can't help wishing to see this level of interior detail expanded to a large ship MOC. That would be absolutely
  16. Wow! That is absolutely awesome. As to whether or not we'll be getting these themes, no one can say. The Hobbit is absolutely categorized as a work of children's literature, so regardless of del Toro's previous resume I think it remain much the same. Certainly there will be elements of darkness in it, but I don't find that to be incompatible with children. No matter how dark del Toro's original work is, you have to remember that it won't necessarily define his approach to this movie. I mean, for instance, take Alfonso Cuarón who directed Prisoner of Azkaban. I can recall when he was announced as the director many people worried he would little the film with loads of sexual innuendos due to his previous film Y tu mamá también. But as those of us who have seen the movie know he stayed true to the source material, or at least the script. I would love to see a Lord of the Rings LEGO franchise and I think the hype of the Hobbit's release could really fuel that. I mean, take for instance the new Disney license which will be releasing sets from Toy Story 1 which by the itme of the toy's release will be fifteen years old. Any LEGO marketing executive knows that if the hype isn't present, there are easy ways to establish it. Toy Story 1's toys will sell well because of the upcoming Toy Story 3. Presumably LEGO LotR would sell well because of the release of the Hobbit. But then again, everything at this point would be entirely speculative.
  17. I think I'm the only who seems to be excited about the Hobbit game. Harry Potter is cool and all, but come on, The Hobbit? Yes please.
  18. Hopefully macrofigs. Like that one that washed up on the beach in Brighton, UK. I'd like one of those in my living room.
  19. This is so cool! What a creative idea. You did a great job of representing all of the sets with the limited selection of pieces in this building set. It's great!
  20. Fabuland pleaase. :classic:
  21. The US version had the new farm Harvester disappear for a few days this past week as well. Not sure what the deal is.
  22. Good to know I'm not alone on trans cuffs
  23. What a fun review! Thanks for sharing it.
  24. The problem wasn't inconsistencies in purple in sets that are sold, but parts that are made in the plant and scrapped, as I heard it. Meaning, more inconsistencies at the plant means more waste and thus purple becomes too expensive to produce simply due to a higher ratio of loss.
  25. Agreed. This is fantastic!
