  1. Oh wow. Tell me someone with a CLONE WARS avatar didn't just call something else cartooney. Sheeeeeesh.
  2. Yeah, I posted this a few days ago. It came as part of an e-mail to LEGO Club members.
  3. See, THIS is why I come to topics like this. Awesome. I and my 900 minifigures now have something to aspire to.
  4. I don't know. People read way too much into everything here. If LEGO spent half the time people assume they do being cryptic about the future the sets wouldn't be nearly as good. It's never ending here. It's always something like, "Oh, the designers said something bugged them about the Mars Mission line, that must mean Insectoids are coming back!" It's clearly going to be an ESB set, but I just can't get behind the idea that they would use a single common verb to give it away. Just my opinion though.
  5. Would it really be that exciting to get a set that's already been done once already in one form or another? No. That's why I think the most exciting choice for a big set to commemorate ESB's 30th anniversary would be the Executor. It's about time they made it.
  6. I just got my mail for the day and I had my LEGO Club magazine in it. I was expecting a Space Police cover given that e-mail they sent out a few weeks back. Unfortunately, it was a LEGO City cover, but throughout the magazine are many hidden Space Police references. For instance, on the cover, Squidman is hiding out inside the payload of a front-end loader as a Space Police officer peaks out from behind for him. Then, when you open the magazine, Max, the LEGO club guy is replaced by Squidman explaining that the magazine is filled with the hidden outlaws from Space Police hiding in the various pages of the magazine. Pretty neat. Some nice glimpses at the smoother non-prototype models of these aliens.
  7. I still say there is no way Star Wars is ending. Sorry. Clone Wars is continuing, live action series, plus remakes of film sets = cash cow. It's not going anywhere. Since when is George Lucas turning away people's money? 2010 will feature plenty of Star Wars sets.
  8. That's not necessarily true, about the TIE fighters. If you've been collecting for years and years, perhaps, but for those of us like myself who hadn't picked up a Star Wars set until recently, it's a great way for us to get our hands on one without paying the sometimes exorbitant collector's price for an old one on Bricklink. If they released a new TIE fighter I'd buy at least one today. LEGO's key market, children, is one in which many collectors may have moved on from their Star Wars sets since the last TIE fighter was released almost 5 years ago, so their main customer base is one that is constantly regenerating, so need for certain timeless sets as this would regrenerate as well. But either way, I digress. As to the main post, I can't say I've seen some much hypothetical in one place in my whole life. I do have to agree with the consensus that Indy is running out of steam. Some of the sets outlined seemed like they'd be dreadful sellers. A Library? I can just see children rushing to buy a Library LEGO set.
  9. Nathan Sawaya. But yeah, the episode was phenomenal. Lot's of fun. But I honestly cringed when the ball fell apart. All that precious, precious LEGO!
  10. Yeah, as a source of income on BrickLink.
  11. Wow! This is absolutely incredible. I'm usually pretty indifferent to the whole idea of the mech, but this one is spectacular. I think the amazing ability to pose this one is what really pushes it over the top for me. Way to go, this is fantastic.
  12. Awesome. I might have to cruise over to my local TRU here to see if we've gotten them yet. Thanks for the heads up!

    Swine Flu

I live in San Diego where there are a few confirmed cases. Also, we're 20 miles from the Mexican border and I work in a place where I'm in contact with a lot of tourists from Mexico. So, I'm not really nervous about it, but I'm certainly being cautious in terms of washing my hands and what not. I do think the media likes to exaggerate things, but at the same time I think it is wise to be cautious.
  14. Welcome to Eurobricks!
  15. Good MOC. It really brings back memories from my childhood, for some reason. I can't quite put my finger on it, but something about this, as I said, really reminds me of the early days of Pirates. All in all, I really like it.
  16. The Clone Wars figure's features have some slight differences from face to face. Namely, the direction of the eyes. It's kind of a cool thing with the clones themselves, really. I'm sure this will turn out to be the same Obi-Wan face as the differences are extremely minor like most Clone Wars figure discrepancies.
  17. Bought Aquaraiders 7773 Tiger Shark Attack, 7685 Dozer, and another 9247 Community Workers set (for another 31 minifigures, why not?) at LEGOLAND today.
  18. The extent of the care I take is just in storing them gently to prevent scratching and wear and keeping them out of light as much as possible, for fading.
  19. Yes. It seems we've reverted to the old icon. Weird.
  20. It's getting closer by the day, that's for sure. I can't wait.
  21. Just got an e-mail from LEGO Club this morning with the subject line "A Special Announcement from Space Police": https://legoshop.rsys1.net/servlet/website/...srLkWFntHpsDJht Check it out.
  22. Yeah. Children are just around the bend for me. I'm so meticulous about my own sets that I might have to learn how to reconcile my own adult feelings about LEGO with a child's. Time will tell. But yes, it looks as if they had fun.
  23. Yeah, I agree. Absolutely spot on!
  24. I doubt that. This is simply LEGO lending their image. It's the smart way to do what they tried to do before. That way, if it fails, it doesn't affect TLC's bottom line. Take Legoland, for instance. Not even owned by TLC, but as a side venture, it kicks back about $100,000 in product sales a day to TLC. Everyone worries too much about LEGO's business model. They learned from the past, and adapted. They realize to remain a viable competitor they'll need to explore other markets, but they'll do it with other companies capital. Which is the smartest way for them to do it.
  25. Yes, I'd agree. A Flaming Skull isn't exactly a benchmark of orginality. But, you did notice a pretty striking similarity. Good find.
