LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17 Rumors and Discussion
8BrickMario replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yeah, in Dark Tan, that would be great for the Divination teacher. It's a shame Harry Potter's not coming back to the set world- I demand another return now that so many years of advancement have occurred!- 1,421 replies

Not a huge fan of the designs, but I think the abandonment of the "Princess" branding was a great idea. Now there are actual playable movie scenes.

I'm surprised. The Jungle sets are actually...cool! City has never really impressed me with its play factor before, but those man-eating plants (Poison Ivy's gonna need a few), animals, and that temple set...I'm very pleasantly surprised, and it gives me some very welcome Adventurers vibes.

Well, the Witch looks okay, but I'm genuinely surprised they didn't go for light grey or brick yellow with her skin color. Granted, there's no perfect color for it, but a healthy flesh tone looks wrong.

I wasn't interested in the Girls sets until I saw Eclipso's palace. That has a lot of promise.

I love way too many of these to choose, but I love the Cartoon, Egyptian Empress, Android Woman, Evil Genie, Spooky Knight, Winter Sprite, and Hat Maker!

It looks pretty final to me. I don't know how much significance it holds, but I like its design. -

I mean in that silver color that everyone's raving about. -

Haven't we already seen that helmet? I'm sure I have one from a Kingdoms set. But it's great to get another opportunity for it. I like the armor pieces. -

I agree, but they haven't really been missing. It's just that the releases of the "normal" series are so staggered that it seems like ages ago. S16 had the Spooky Boy, and I'm sure 18 will have one or two spooky/supernatural creatures. They tend to have some series that are more fantastical and some that are more mundane, and this is one of the latter.- 1,421 replies

Pirates of the Carribean 5 Sets Discussion
8BrickMario replied to Capn Frank's topic in LEGO Pirates
Unlikely- it would be wasteful to create such a specific mold for such a limited run- so if it was an exclusive, the piece would have to appear elsewhere in the future. Anyway, besides that mysterious amazing shark that I really want to have, the ship is...meh. I like the visual impact, but it's trying to bridge play and display very clumsily- it has a fudged sense of scale and needs a stand, yet most of its build goes toward an action feature...odd. I do love the ghosts, though. I would like to have all of them. -

I wouldn't object to more sets. There are tons of suits and villains they didn't make yet, and I'd like to get as many as possible. -

Okay, summative thoughts. Surfer Boy: Meh. Nothing really new, just a couple of prints to keep him unique. Gourmet Chef: I really like her. The printed pie is nice, and the hair/toque and whisk will be great additions to LEGO's culinary realm. Hot Dog Vendor: Actually pretty useful- fast-food, city, fairground, whatever! I like the tray and the drink cup and hot dog- lots of nice pieces in one place! Elf Maiden: While she suits the blue, I was hoping she would coordinate better with the Series 3 Elf. I don't know, I think I'd be a lot more excited about her if the Tolkien sets never happened. Circus Strongman: He's just great. I love the leopard-print costume and the printed balls for the weight set. Yuppie: I might need one just for that brick phone. Otherwise, it's a bit of an odd and undesirable character, regardless of generation. Vet: Good to see that hair again, and I like her face. The rabbit is very welcome, and her scrubs are appropriate. Connoisseur: I like him. The torso will be nice to have, and the bulldog is great. Butterfly Girl: Very cute, and I love the bright colors and new wings. Gladiator: That hairpiece is perfect for a Roman, isn't it. Good for army builders. Corn Cob Guy: That's one impressive mustache! I like the idea, but I don't know if I really need one outside of Scarecrow-henchman duties. Retro Space Hero: I love the old idea of the future, and he does it just right. Dance Instructor: Manages to be interesting in every way the Fitness Instructor was boring. I love the hair and the ridiculously eighties outfit, and the bottle assembly is clever, too. Battle Dwarf: I think his red is a bit too bright to sell me- a darker shade would have looked less modern to me. Still, I like the concept, and I wonder when we'll see a good dwarf in this line. Rocket Boy: Adorable, and a nice way to take advantage of a figure whose legs can't move- the costume isn't restricting anything. I think he'll be a perfect Trick-or-Treater....now I want to put an alien face in that outfit!- 1,421 replies

Love the Eraser one, though the American/British pronunciation dichotomy ("shire" vs "shur") might make the last one a bit confusing.

I think he's ambiguous. He's got a cheesy expression, but it's not totally evil- he could just be determined. We'll have to wait for the bio. As for the Highwayman, if he's truly intended to be a surprise figure, it was awfully decent of them to give us a silhouette- feeling him out will be easy with that hat. I might be crazy, because that Gourmet Chef is giving me strong Emma Stone vibes...- 1,421 replies

It would probably be misinterpreted as a euthanasia-in-progress. It's a French bulldog, and it's an excuse to give us more animals. Although a poodle might have been too cliche, that would have been nice too.- 1,421 replies

LEGO needs to be more careful about spoilers, cause, yeah, that Castle doesn't bode well for one of our rulers. But hooray! MERLOK! -

Overall this series is a bit plain for me, but I love the Rocket Boy, Fairy Girl, Frenchman, Nineties Guy, and Eighties Girl. Absolute favorite is the Retro Spaceman. I had hoped for him with Series 16's astronaut, but at least he's here. The dingy colors really work for him, and the new helmet and ray gun are great.- 1,421 replies

Ooh, he looks nice. It's a shame that the stripes aren't able to wrap around as they should, but it's a decent figure. I just hope that's not his only expression. I can't imagine how fun he'll be to play as.

Oh, she looks nice. It's odd seeing her with shaped hands, though.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
8BrickMario replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yeah, LEGO definitely got it right with most of the final designs. I am tickled by that "classic minifig" Two-Face, though. I do like the more subtle "real-life toy" aspect of the final version, however. And yeah, LEGO often makes sketch models in development for sets. But considering that they actually printed an Egghead and molded/sculpted a new piece for him, I'd be very surprised if he didn't make his way onto shelves in some form. -

Wow, for once I'm mostly happy with the final decisions instead of the prototypes- Penguin is much better final than in the concepts. But while I love the new Scarecrow, I really wish they had gone with one of the concepts instead so he would actually be a unique design. I want every minifigure we didn't get, though- that Wiz-Bat suit is amazing, and it's interesting to see they went the brick-and-short-legs route for Hugo's coat. Considering they made a complete design for Egghead and his stuff, I would love to see him. But seriously? They made the Penguin's hat and March Harriet, but they never even considered including Mad Hatter ANYWHERE? -
