I just wanted to say that I'm REALLY enjoying reading all the posts on this topic, especially when folks get right into the nitty-gritty of WHY they want a particular theme revived...or why NOT, for that matter. Very interesting reading.

Oh, sooooooooooo sweet! Have to admit, as soon as I saw your pics, I immediately thought Warhammer 40K.

It's amazing how many folks don't 'get' that...or give you funny looks when you say it.

Kind of late on this but, CONGRATS, RICECRACKER!

I haven't read all 18 pages of this thread but, it sounds to me like LEGO is just taking a stab at cutting into the 'Polly Pocket' market...which has done fairly well for itself. Might not be too bad of a theme.

(photo snipped) Hmm...I like the look of the blue...but, not with the tan and the red curtains, for some reason. I don't know, maybe it's JUST the curtain colour throwing it off. Not sure. I think a little bit of 'colour-tweaking' is required for it to look as good in blue as it does in green...

I'll get it, but only because I've picked up every City advent calendar since they started putting minifigs in them. Otherwise, I'd probably give this one a pass. It's WEAK. THAT...would be awesome! Classic logo figures from various old themes (Classic Space, Blacktron, M-Tron), a couple of small multi-day ship and vehicle builds, then, on the 23 and 24, a build of Santa in a red spacesuit, in a rocket-sled, pulled by a couple of robotic raindeer! Okay, so that was just off the top of my head...but, still...

You got your wish this year! Too bad they kind of suck.

Big medieval landscape: BIG UPDATE on page 26

IMO, the stonework on the rear of the building is better than that of the front. For some reason, the front feels 'too busy'. Other than that, it looks mighty sweet. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion

My two faves, also. Minotaur needs a rockin' two-handed, double-bladed battle axe...more like what Brick Warriors recently released. Its current weapon is a wee bit lame. -
Honestly, I'm pretty much in favour of ANYTHING that keeps the 'castle' theme going, so long as it's done with QUALITY. In other words, no more KKII-style knights and weapons, and no KKI 'modular' (read: 'crappy') castles, etc. KKI had okay minifigs but, they weren't nearly as good as the 'Crownies' and the current Lions & Dragons (heh...used to be a pub near me called "The Lion & Dragon" *g*). I'd REALLY like to see a "fully fleshed-out" theme though...something that's more than "just another castle" and "just another catapult".

Sweet!

Very true, though I'm still hung-up on the whole "What's in a name?" aspect. I appreciate the previous "a rose by any other name"-type comments but, I'm sorry, "alien mothership" tends to have a very specific meaning and isn't really subject to interpretation like some other set names might be. On that point alone, the set fails to deliver. Add in the fact that it's basically the 'main set' for the aliens and the disappointment in the set is magnified. Still a cool alien, though.

They HAD considered an alliance but, neither side trusts the other.

Umm...you DO realize that you are NOT helping me at ALL, right? Maybe I can bribe somebody who managed to pick-up those figs...

Very impressive! I don't think I even own that many grey bricks. LOL

(pics not quoted) Okay, I am not ashamed to admit that I just laughed VERY HARD at that! I'm not sure though if it was due to the pig, or your response.

If I couldn't come here and 'chat up a storm', either a) I'd be divorced, or b) my head would explode. My wife made the mistake of asking me about my army-building last night. I don't think she expected a 90min-long answer.

Holy cow, you've got some sweet-looking stuff!

(underlined by me) EXCEPT for one thing...the stickers. I like the old UFO printed parts better. Not the PARTS per se, just the fact that they were printed. Of course, UFO had stickers too...those holographic looking things...but, most of the stuff was printed, which TENDS to be better than stickers. I know some folks PREFER stickers, because that way they can choose not to use them and have 'blank' pieces instead and I understand and appreciate that but, for ME, I prefer the printed parts. I have to say too, I'm not thrilled with the blue uniforms for ADU. I'm guessing they didn't go with a 'tactical grey' because they had just used that for SPIII but, it would have been nice if they had gone with at least a SWAT blue...you know...something a wee bit less...*ahem*...'colourful'. Totally love the aliens though and I dig the fact that they're rockin' the lime green and purple. Totally works for me.

Just a thought: I'd love to see a revival of the old 'mixed lot' troop builder packs from the past, which would allow us to add to various factions without the need for a whole 'theme' devoted to them. THAT WAY, if (to use your example) SP and Blacktron were brought back to 'duke it out in the outer limits', we could toss in a bunch of 'innocent bystanders', other 'space worker' types, etc., etc. Slap five or six figs in a box, mix-up the colour combos and paint some retro graphics on their guts and I would be one seriously happy spaceman.
