  1. Building rubble is an art form in itself I reckon - nice work here bud.
  2. Thanks everyone, it's nice to know the FP works. Will definitely try to do a bigger moc for phase 2. Also realised I've been shooting without my vibration reduction enabled on my camera (obviously not a great photographer....) hence the slight grainy-ness. The other shots are a bit too terrible to post I'm afraid, which is unfortunate.
  3. That was a joke bud, 500 paces not pieces It is a rather small build, I'd gladly resubmit for phase 2 when I manage to get more bricks in.
  4. Thanks guys, wasn't sure if the perspective worked for everyone. Small?? You must be kidding, it's 500 paces bud But in all seriousness, you might be right, it is a rather small build. I shalt submit myself to the ruling of our council as to weather I should resubmit a phase 2 or move on.
  5. Submission for AoM Archery Phase 2 - Shooting at 500 Paces. Credit to Kai's post which got me thinking about forced perspective, something I've never done before. C&Cs more than welcome thanks. ... .. . It wasn't the distance - he'd shot further than that a thousand times. It wasn't the pressure either, after all he had once been tasked to ensure all ravens leaving the seiged enemy's towers were shot down. No it was the unnatural silence. Half the township watched on in complete hush, all waiting with baited breath too see who would emerge the champion archer of Mitgardia.
  6. Thanks for all the positivity guys - additional tree pictures just up.
  7. Question - Do I need ALL phase 3 submissions to be in to apply for one title? So assuming I'm applying for the Hersir of Archery, is it ok if I only finish the 3 archery phases or do I need to have finished the barracks and stables one too as a formality?
  8. In simple terms it's making things seem nearer, further, bigger or smaller than it really is. It's done using either objects or camera angle, kind of like an optical illusion really. So in this sense he's made it seem like there's an endless blue sea/sky in front of him.
  9. Was fairly sure I'd commented on this.. Great build, loving the wood on stone building. Was actually planning on putting in a BL order to build something like this - only problem is I'm terrible at estimation. How many 1x2 grey bricks do you reckon it'd take to build a moc this size? Thanks.
  10. Hello all. Thanks for being so encouringing with my two previous submissions. Here's my third for the Stables Phase 1. Nothing too fancy, first time trying my hand at building a tree (apart from the one in the MMV set, and Attack of the wargs ). Tried to make the leaves drape down as naturally as possible, as far as I know I haven't seen anyone use this technique before - but I won't be surprised if someone had with the number of great builders out there, do point it out to me if it's not new. Apart from that, do enjoy the build, C&Cs are again more than welcome. ... .. . Taking a break after a long day's ride, and where better than under a lush green tree
  11. Thank you all for your kind comments Yep Gimli's helmet, I'm sure most of us here have at least 5 copies or so of it Thanks, the other phases unfortunately will take some time - a lack of bricks limits progression sadly.
  12. First submission for the Barracks Phase 1 - Recruiting for the Watching. Having decided that the life of a swamp chicken hunter wasn't for him, the recuitment poster for the city watch had appeared at a most fortune time. After all, the instructions were simple enough - Show up at west wall, bring your own helmet and nightstick, and applicants were to be matched up to spar against each other in knockout phases till there were ten. Perfect, and there was absolutely no discrimination at all - The watch took all ages 9 and up, either gender, any creed, any race. Unfortunately, the knockout phase matchups weren't always the fairest... "SERIOUSLY!!??! THAT counts as a nightstick..!!?!?!" ... .. . Again, C&Cs are greatly welcome. Thanks
  13. Dear council, my humble Archery Phase 1 Submission - hunting the fearsome Swamp Chicken. http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=92409 A little different from the "requirements" though, if that's ok? Edit: A submission for the Barracks Phase 1 - Sparring as well: http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=92425 Edit 2: Submission for Stables Phase 1 is up too: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=92473
  14. Thanks for all the kind feedback everyone, but I'd just like to clarify that being attacked by swamp chickens is no laughing matter.. Kabel - Thanks, I'd definitely make sure i get those in future shots - any "quick fix" recommendations for someone who doesn't use photoshop?
  15. Thanks for the kind comments guys, put together a simple moc this morning for AoM Archery Phase 1 - http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=92409 Do I also have to comment in the AOM thread?
  16. Woah it's been a long time since I've managed to throw together a simple moc. Here's a submission for AoM Archery Phase 1. . . . . "Steady, no sudden movements, take your time." - Dad, teaching his son the basics of hunting the fearsome swamp chicken. *Twang!* "They see us! RUN!!!!" .. . . Thanks for viewing, a simple moc, comments and criticism more than welcome of course.
  17. After "joining" mitgardia a year ago and attempting to build for the final book 1 challenge, I've had little to no time at all to contribute at all. Regardless, I've been following the progress of GoH rather closely, so decided to come on today to just give a shoutout to you guys and say that your builds never cease to amaze, keep up the good work guys. Hopefully I'll be able to be more active at some point, but we all know real life has it's own priorities. Edit - Decided I'll upload those long overdue pictures of those builds I smashed together in a week of the final challenge - but never got around to contributing. Nothing spectecular I must say, but do have a gander and of course comments and criticisms are more than welcome. https://www.flickr.c...06/12489722243/ https://www.flickr.c...in/photostream/ https://www.flickr.c...in/photostream/
  18. This is one of the threads I check every couple of days and it's awesome the see the armies. Realize though the recent trend is understandably LotR army building, does anyone still army build non-LotR? What about "Custom armies"?
  19. Ah thy almighty blue tack.
  20. Haha! First thing I thought of when I saw the panda fig was to make a pandarian too. Did you just balance the hat on his head though?
  21. Yep that's where i got my last order of capes from, not too bad all in all. Placed another order there last week, but no flags.
  22. Are you saying that there's a supplier who does cape printing or a material supplier? I'm in Australia as well, and a local producer might be exactly what I need. I had a good hard look at their stuff as well, and while the quality looks great I do think they're a little pricy - I'm thinking about somewhere in the region of 50 odd capes and hoping for something slightly cheaper xD
  23. I like the LotR and Hobbit storylines books and movies well enough, but must say I'm not a die-hard fan. I do buy from the theme though, not to collect as a separate range but to add to my castle/fantasy collection - Elves are elves, dwarfs are dwarfs, and I've no problems using lotr/hobbit characters are general army figs. The exception is the company of hobbit-dwarfs I have on display - the sets are largely broken down though. I actually have a poor opinion of the actual sets themselves as stand alone pieces, apart from Bag end the rest leave quite a bit to be desired as display pieces imho. Attack of the wargs, goblin town, barrel escape - nice if you're a huge fan but otherwise the sets aren't great aesthetically. LotR wise, I broke up Mines of Moria and mirkwood for parts, but kept the pirate ship and weathertop intact, mostly as they work well as generic fantasy structures.
  24. I'm looking to get a bunch of custom capes done up, was wondering if anyone can recommend a seller who will do basic printing at a non-wallet-busting price? Otherwise I'd probably end up getting plain white capes at about 50 cents each (BORING!!) Thanks!
  25. Oh ok thanks for that, couldn't tell from the pictures that the pilum was a full 3 cm shorter. Dang, I'm looking for a long-ish spear but not one overly long as those brickwarrior ones.
