  1. Gideon revealing his true colours?
  2. Simple, clean yet some very nice details (The noticeboard - ) Edit - Shield for table iz very very naise.
  3. Like mentioned by the others, while each of the guilds has it's own "primary landscape" (Mitgardia - Mountains and snow, Avalonia - Trees and sunshine, Kaliphlin - Desert and scorching sun and Nocturnus - Swamps and darkness), it shouldn't be a problem if you wants to build a forest in mitgardia or nocturnus. I haven't been hugely active, but when I first started it took me a while to decide which guild to go for too. I flicked through the guild forums a little, but mainly just looked at the introduction post each guild has. There are some good pictures there, and seeing the builds by the individual guild members really helped me to decide. Long story short, JOIN MITGARDIA! Edit: Apols, I read and posted from my phone and missed that you'd kinda picked Noccy in your post. Read through the noccy thread, and view the links / mocs that have been posted, and it'll give you an idea of what sort of building style is predominant and thereby the bricks you need. Think black, dark green, lime green and red, swampy colours basically.
  4. Barracks Phase 3 here.
  5. Wow look at all the.... Height-cists in here In perspective, everyone in this build is a dwarf, so they're all technically short. Having said that, if dwarves are a race, surely there are some odd tall ones here and there ?
  6. Again, thank you all for the kind comments. Did think of landscaping around the castle, but figured I wanted to join it to more baseplates and do a bigger scene around it so left it open for now.
  7. Long before the cities of men had sprung up across Historica, the dwarves had already begun to shape the world. Unable to resist the call of the ore from deep within the Mitgardian mountains, 4 of the most influential dwarvish clans claimed territories amidst its peaks, and an age of prosperity soon ensued amongst the dwarves. The oldest and wisest foresaw that all good things must come to an end, and in preparation built a watchtower with intentions of holding the pass to the Mitgardian mountains. And his wisdom proved prudent. The richness of the clans soon drew the attention of the wild orcs from the Western Orcish Marches. Attack after attack came, and while the individual orcish clans were always beaten back, he knew that it would be a matter of time before a shaman united the clans and with their combined might the tower would not hold. Calling upon the elders of the other dwarf clans, a plan was hatched to fortify the tower. Each of the 3 remaining clans sent their best masons and builders, and whatever else they could spare. Thus, Gathul Khazad, the fortress of the dwarves, was bricked. Banners were raised, with a simple embalm representing the four clans, and soldiers were sent to forswear loyalty to no individual clan, but for the greater good of Mitgardia. Each clan had built in their own unique style, but what emerged was a fortress capable of holding back the orcish clans. As the centuries passed, walls were damaged but never breached, and always repaired. As unrest grumbled in modern Mitgardia, the call to arms was made, and soldiers prepared to move out. No firm orders had been given, but it was rumored that they would be lead by the mysterious stranger who had traveled far to reach Gathul Khazad. Unusual it was, but the troops had been trained to obey, and if that was what the commanders had decreed, then it would be so. As they lined up to march, many glanced up at the stranger, who would spend a further 3 days in the fortress before making haste to catch up with the troops. Until then, Dorrim was in charge of marching the forces through the treacherous mountain paths. I initially built and finished this for the HoM Challenge, but real life happened and simply never had time to photograph anything. In building it I wanted to try out different towers mashed into one castle. It's also my first real big castle moc, and my first round tower as well. Also wanted to play around with using wargs as beasts of burden. Couldn't have done it without all the inspiration and insights gained from all the great builders here in GoH and Eurobricks in general, so thanks to all. Sigfig Nivre can be seen in the white hood, and there are a few more pictures on my Flickr stream. Comments and criticisms more than welcome as usual. Also - Tall dwarves. They're a thing now. Precedence set by Ecc, thanks bud.
  8. Thanks guys, great to see the multiple figures idea worked for everyone, was hoping it wouldn't just be my own imagination that made it work for me. It's good to be back..
  9. They don't, I'd think those were from altbricks.
  10. I spent longer than I'd care to admit staring at the last picture. So pretty... so shiny... Also, thanks for paving the way with tall dwarves ecc. My sigfig is a dwarf as well, but the short legs are pretty limiting and I was trying to think of a way to.. grow him, Magic potion, ancient spell, fountain of growth, I guess he'll just be a tall dwarf and save himself a trip somewhere .
  11. Thank you all for the kind words. I did wonder if the leaves would obscure too much of the actual moc, then thought no one really needed to see more generic path/grass/forest floor building. Glad to see most thought the same. Also played around with using figures of the same colour, but thought it looked a little too... static if that makes sense. And yep, head from CMF sleepyhead.
  12. A good scout should always trust his gut feel.. and something felt wrong about this. Zorlek had been watching the traveler deep in sleep under the tree for almost an hour now, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. The others were getting impatient, it'd been way too long since they last had fresh meat. Zorlek peered through the leaves again.... "Light armor, and only a wooden staff on top of being soundly asleep. Against 4 orcs. No problems at all." Zorlek tried to convince himself. Still.. Finally, he decided that enough was enough. He took a deep breath, and signaled to the rest to proceed. With caution. Orcs weren't by nature the most stealthy, but as the 4 of them crept slowly towards the traveler, he barely seemed to even stir. Zorlek started to relax a little. There'd be food soon. He adjusted the leaves to get a better view, and watched as the others got within striking distance... And everything exploded. In a blur of movement, with the distinct crunches of a staff striking true, mingling with the roars of pain, confusion and the horrible sound of breaking bones, the traveler burst forth from his slumber. Moving so quickly it seemed like he was everywhere, it was all over in a second, the traveler standing silent a midst the battered bodies of the orcs. Zorlek muffled a cry and prayed that he wouldn't be spotted, all as a warm trickle ran down his leg. It's been a fair while since I've posted anything, been wayyy to busy with real life. Had the urge to do a quick simple build tonight, struggled with inspiration for awhile, but thought I'd just start and see what came to mind. Decided to play around with the idea of someone moving ridiculously quickly (think the flash in old school cartoons), does it work for everyone?. C&Cs are as usual more than welcome.
  13. It's time to get a little more involved in GoH again methinks!
  14. Was just wondering, how do i make the picture link straight to my flickr? Thanks
  15. Love the caravans, excellent building there. Fits right into the scenery too
  16. Barracks Phase 2 - Standard Obstacle Course, Desert Edition. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=92948
  17. Again, thanks for all the kind words all. I'll try to get more pictures up soon if possible, friend's borrowed the camera though.
  18. Have a huge soft spot for beautiful castles with accessible rooms. Excellent build bud.
  19. Part of the training routine for the knights order involves an obstacle course designed to test one's strength, agility and endurance. Traditionally conducted after a run in order to maximize it's difficult, the obstacle course involves: 1. Unassisted climb over a low wall. 2. Flat out crawl under heavy wire. 3. Long jump, assisted with swing pole. 4. Horizontal ladder. 5. Balancing steps. 6. Verticle rope climb. Pictured here is the desert edition of the Standard Obstacle Course. Training grounds are covered in sand, increasing the difficulty of running and crawling. In addition, the training is conducted when the sun is at it's hottest and brightest to mimic foreign environments should the need to invade assist in foreign terroritories. Instructors keep a watchful eye on the trainees, while 2 medics are on standby under the shade. The Commander watches from the walls, always keen to keep abreast of the troop's progress and standards. Bonus: No matter how much training one does, nothing can prepare any normal minifigure for the.. GIANT KITTEN! .... ... .. . Submission for AoM Barracks Phase 2. First time building a tower / wall too, C&Cs greatly welcome, Thanks.
  20. Thanks Direlda, I'll definitely muck around with ISO settings and the like on my next shoot, and get in touch with questions. Thanks for the kind offers of help too (:
  21. Ah ok thanks Gideon. As you can probably tell I'm just one of those people with a decent camera and no clue how to use it.. Well it was a gift to be fair. I'll muck around with iso settings, although I think it's on auto at the moment. Thanks!
  22. Thrash - I've actually been meaning to get in touch with you guys about some of the items I received, but didn't get around to it as it's pretty hard to find contact details on the website. Don't want to publicly announce what I have to say here, can I PM you or can you provide an email thanks.
  23. Really really liking the base of the tower, is there a wip picture of it? Or a how to kind of thing?
