  1. Looking good b00sted! I was going to reply to your question in the other thread, but it probably makes more sense here. I for one prefer the shoulder strap positioned with the buckle higher up, and finishing closer to the corner (which makes more sense if you're representing the strap on a quiver, as it would be seperate from the belt.) I also agree that the smaller insignia off to the side keeps things tidier. One question though, what colour are you using for the main body?
  2. In addition to my previous efforts to create updated versions of the Castle factions from days of yore, I thought I'd try my hand at everyone's favourite unshaven bandits, the Wolfpack Renegades! For those unfamiliar with the faction, these are the original figures: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=M&catString=9.286 I don't know about everyone else, but I always viewed them as a rag-tag group of peasants-turned-thieves rather than any sort of formally structured army. I also opted to colour them for the modern "reddish brown" torsos rather than the older brown ones, and branched off a little with black and dark tan too. As per normal, if anyone has any feedback or suggestions, please say so! Or perhaps any ideas for other variants that you'd like to see? EDIT: moved the newer torsos here: And added some shields: Cheers! EDIT: Wolfpack renegades as fleshies:
  3. Thank you, and perhaps I should have linked to the originals! http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=M&catString=9.489 Oh, no not at all! By all means you should draw your own ones if you want to, I'd be surprised if I was the first person to have the idea in the first place!
  4. Thanks! I just moved the coat of arms to one side because I felt it looked less crowded that way. Of course, feel free to do likewise if you like the look. I must admit that I was given the idea to include a quiver strap by Thestral, back when I did a series of Elven decals based on the Series 3 Collectable Minifig: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=50061&st=0 Oh absolutely, and while it was a nice "nod of the head" from TLG to include an updated Falcon shield, I really wish they'd splashed out on a new torso print! Or at the very least, a blue plume instead of a green one! Although now that I think about it, if they did include an exclusive updated Black Falcon torso in such an expensive set, I'd probably be broke by now! I also realised that I'd never posted the actual figures! These are the earlier designs before I updated/corrected the insignia. Foot soldier on the left, Baron Corvus on the right:
  5. Quite a simple one, Tony Stark's Mark V emergency armour in briefcase form: The figure itself is all official TLG parts (including Jack Sparrow's head!), with custom stickers on the briefcase.
  6. Thank you, it's good to be back! Aw shucks, I'm glad you like them! I whipped these up for you, hope they do the trick!
  7. Like a lot of AFOLs of my vintage, the first Castle Lego set I ever owned was the venerable "Yellow Castle", and although we've moved on from those early visors, separate tunic pieces and brick-built horses, the Classic Castle sets still hold a place in my heart. Fast forward a few decades and I'm building a pair of the gorgeous Kingdoms Joust sets, and I something clicks - I need a group of different knights competing in the tourney. Each of them a champion hailing from neighbouring kingdoms, baronies, duchies and fiefdoms, their tunics emblazoned with their own insignias! So without further ado, my updated versions of original Classic Castle knights: And for anyone interested, I did the same thing with the Black Falcons a while back: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=53081&st=0 If anyone has any suggestions or feedback, please let me know!
  8. I must admit, I hadn't noticed it when I first made them! But I've redone the insignia now (better late than never?) and edited the original post to include the updates. Cheers!
  9. I did a version a little more in line with the modern look. Hope you like them! Foot soldier: Archer: Knight:
  10. Ooh, I'd love those! But the Monaco race set has to include a break apart Rolls-Royce! I'd also love to see the throne room of Asgard, figures of Odin, Frigga, Thor and Loki. Perhaps Odin's sleeping chambers included behind the throne? Bifrost teleporter/gatehouse with Heimdall and sword-operated control console. And to be honest I'd buy any other sets from the movie version of Asgard; the architecture was amazing the armoury/vault area perhaps? Including the Destroyer, a couple of Jotun warriors, and Lego versions of all the super weapons of the Marvel Universe! And for a smaller set, how about Nick Fury's flying car? Not that it's in the films, but it would still be neat. (Well, there is the prototype in the begining of the Captain America film.) And Dr Doom's Latverian Castle would be very cool too, so would the Baxter Building.
  11. Thank you LuxorV for your comments. Ah, so I see belt buckles and other details you added simply came off frogstudio's images. I hadn't realised that, but I suppose it explains why the belts have different thicknesses on the knights - although it means you've done two people a disservice rather than one. It's been brought to my attention by other members that you were also posting the images on Classic Castle, and I do thank you for adding the explanation in your edit: http://www.classic-castle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=21681 To sum up, I'm not upset at what you did, just the way that you went about presenting it as your original work. If you'd simply been honest and open in your original post and said something like: "I wanted to see frogstudio's belt buckles on ED-209's decals" or even: "I saw some other people's images and thought I'd combine them together. Sorry I can't remember/find the threads of the original work though." then there wouldn't have been a problem. I'd have just replied that I'm one of the original guys and linked to the earlier thread. I'm prepared to trust that this has just been an honest mistake. That all being said, if I may offer some constructive feedback: you're obviously talented enough to be doing good work. If you're going to trace images, why not go to the source and use the original Lego images as a base? There's going to be no confusion there, and you'd be capturing the asthetic of the originals. Both http://www.bricklink.com and http://www.peeron.com have extensive catalogues of parts. I'd love to see you do peasant garb in different colours with different belts, daggers and pouches. Or a Crownie torso recoloured as a classic Dragon knight. Or Viking belts on a bare-chested barbarian, or all the factions from the original "Yellow Castle" done in the modern style! There's tonnes of material and variation there - and that's without even scratching the surface of coming up with your own imagery, logos or factions - which I'm sure you could do too. One final thought, Peeron has a great CMYK colour chart that you can use to make sure you're using the right shades to match the plastic and will look their best when applied to minifigs.
  12. "b00sted", huh? Very apt choice of name. The board member you "got the idea from" was me. This is the original thread from eleven months ago is here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=53081&st=0&p=947782&fromsearch=1entry947782 For example, let's compare mine with "yours": You didn't simply get an idea from me, you wholesale ripped off my work. You simply threw a couple of new belt buckles on top of my decals, then you switched the emblems and recoloured some of them. This is not cool, not cool at all. I would be happy, thrilled in fact, if I had inspired you to create some work of your own. But that is very clearly not what has happened here. Many people put a lot of effort into this site, and all of us active in the minifig customisation forum publish our work for free for the benefit of the community. I find your behaviour is very disapointing indeed. The decent thing to do would have been to admit in your original post that you were recolouring my images, and if you were feeling generous, link to my thread. In fact, I'm not sure what amazes me more: A) the fact that you had the nerve to imply that this was your own work, B) that you're hypocritical enough to try to discourage others from doing to you exactly what you did to me, C) or that you've essentially solicited your plagerism for sale. You've also failed to correct the inaccuracies in my Falcon emblem, and (looking at the armoured breastplates) you didn't even bother to erase the corners of the original belt buckles or keep the belt thinkness the same!
  13. Thanks for the kind words everyone! I've done a few more decals, of Foster and Selvig in more movie accurate outfits: I think I'll make some more outfits once the BluRay comes out and I can get some decent screenshots. I want to do one of Darcy Lewis, and one or two of Thor's Earth clothes. Thanks! The movie is not as good as Iron Man, but better than Iron Man 2, IMO. Just go into it with the knowledge of the Flash Gordon space opera vibe! Thanks tin7, that's high praise indeed coming from you! Your Marvel figures were one of the inspirations for me to make these. I will do the helmets, well I'll try to at any rate. I'm not sure how they'll turn out, but I hope to find some time to start on them on the weekend.
  14. Very cute! The monkey with the bone made me hear teh 2001 theme in my head!
  15. Thanks for the kind words everyone, I appreciate it! Nobody has any ideas for other shops though? I agree, I might tone down the boarder on the cheese merchant, and possibly lighten the background on the tanner. The background for the cooper looks much more subdued once printed - it's actually the CMYK values of the standard Lego green pieces. LOL, Nice observation, I hadn't thought of that! Of course you can, that's why I posted them!
  16. Wow, sensational work! I love the angled paving technique!
  17. Sorry, don't know how I missed that! *slaps forehead*
  18. I had the old Guarded Inn (6967) set as a child, and always loved the little tavern sign it came with: Unfortunately at some point one of the clips broke, so I thought I'd make a reproduction sticker in homage. The idea then hit me to make a series of medieval shop signs for other merchants in a village. I'm more active in the minifig customising forum, so I appologise if this isn't really the right forum to post this in (admins please move it if appropriate!) Tavern: Baker: Cheese merchant: Blacksmith: Butcher: Cartwright or wainwright: Cooper: Fletcher: Tanner: All images are 600dpi, and should come out at 15 x 15mm to fit on the standard small flags. Which is also why they're very simple in design too! Any and all feedback or suggestions would be most welcome!
  19. Very nicely done. It really makes me wish there had been more sets in the Viking series, and perhaps more varieties of helmet too!
  20. After seeing the latest Marvel movie (and tin7's excellent figs!), I knew I wanted some Lego Thor figures of my own! The parts arrived this week, so here's the end result: The god of Thunder and Storms, Thor: The god of Lies and Mischief, Loki: The two of them together: Thor's hammer Mjolnir is brick-built, and Loki wields Odin's spear Gungnir (courtesy of the fine folks at BrickForge!) I plan to try my hand at sculpting helmets for them at a later stage, and I'll make a figure of Odin too if the helmets turn out OK. The costumes from the movie are so complex and intricate it was hard to know what elements to use in the decals and what to simplify or omit, but here are the files for anyone interested: And just for good measure, I threw together some Harry Potter parts to make two of Thor's mortal companions; Dr. Jane Foster and Prof. Erik Selvig. Their outfits aren't accurate to the film, but I might make some decals of them too. As always, and questions and/or feedback would be most appreciated!
  21. Nail polish?! What a brilliant idea! It looks fantastic, do you know the brand and exact colour you used?
  22. Very nice, very sinister looking!
  23. Wow, that's some spectacular work, I'm eagerly looking forward to the film! I think they're all up to your usual exceptional quality but like the others I have to admire the figure of Odin the most. I've been dying to do my own for a while, but I really doubt that my sculpting skills are up to the challenge of his helmet! What part did you use for Gungnir? It looks to me like the two-pronged Pharoah's staff: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=93252 I had planned to use BrickForge's Elven Spear (in gold): http://www.brickforge.com/store/home.php?cat=265 I'm not sure if it appeals to you, but I thought it was actually a fairly similar facsimile of the movie prop. I'd really appreciate any sculpting tips you might have for the helmet. I had thought of starting with a BF Battle Helmet as a base and building it up with Games Workshop Green Stuff. http://www.brickforge.com/store/home.php?cat=254 All praise to the Allfather! (Haha, I even posted on a Wednesday, how fitting! ) PS: does Thor use the Donald Blake name in the film?
  24. Hi everyone, Macoco gave me the idea that I really like. To rework the venerable Black Falcons to bring them more in line with the current Lego designs as seen in the "Fantasy Era" and "Kingdoms" lines. (Thanks Macoco! ) Firstly, a simple repro of the original 1980s Falcon for anyone interested: My take on an updated Black Falcon footsoldier or archer: A knight, in the vein of Kingdoms' Lions knights: And then I thought, "shouldn't the Falcon knight wear darker armour?": And lastly, the ruler of the Black Falcons, a king or perhaps more likely a noble: In my mind, he's named Baron Corvus, has dark bley hair and this head: Any suggestions or feedback is most welcome. Cheers! EDIT: In the spirit of accuracy, I've redone the insignia to be more accurate to the original: I also added a dagger to the nobleman: Plus I felt that an archer should have a quiver strap: And I also played around with a two-tone tunic: New edit: I've made an alternate set with the newer insignia that was introduced in the awesome Kingdoms Joust set 10223: Also, I made a back for the two-toned archer as I felt it would look odd without the dark blue section (although I'd be intending him to wear a quiver, others may not): I've also done some shields with TLG's new Falcon design. Straight up reproduction, plus oval and circular shields too: Another edit: More variations on the foot soldiers and archers. This time to include quartered tunics, with the modern insignia and in some darker colours as requested by Jakon. Having two colours on the tunic pretty much requires a print for the back too. LOL Now there are too many choices! I'm not even sure what set to use myself anymore?! And ideas or suggestions are, as always, most welcome!
  25. Thanks everyone! My apologies for not having a chance to reply sooner! Certainly, it's not as tidy as the front I'm afraid. The USB is fractionally too thick to fit completely within the leg cavity, so it's partially exposed in the rear. Shaving/filing the front and rear "walls" of the legs, perhaps to half thickness on each side might work, but I was concerned it would weaken the structural integrity too much. Hope that makes it clearer for anyone else planning on making one! Thank you, but what's this? A legless ninja sneaking up on our zombie? And... attack! The luckless zombie crawls away, the ninja now the proud owner of 8GBs of legs! But who does the ninja meet on his way? Oh well. Easy come, easy go! Cheers everyone!
