  1. Nice post, I lol'd at "I anticipate several weeks of cursing ahead." I'm just curious if you had to/are going to make any adaptations to the controller to make it easier for yourself to use? Have you ever used lego to build assistive devices?
  2. Are you talking about this: http://www.technicbricks.com/2011/07/8110-unimog-u400-panhard-rod.html http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=58706 ?
  3. I'm not one of the pros that you were addressing your question to, but I'm not familiar with "scale-fitting" machines. I wasn't able to find any via google. Could you post a link or picture?
  4. I received mine last week- I'm taking it down to NY next weekend to build with my brother. We'll have multiple timing mechanisms, multiple cameras (including infrared), kinematic measurement devices to track arm movements and pin-connection strength, telemetric systems to track bathroom and food breaks, metabolic and heartrate loggers to keep track of our exertion levels, and electroencephalograph devices to track our brain function. It will all be live-tweeted.
  5. I know this will sound too cynical to some, but I suspect that the company doesn't want any of the designers to become too 'famous' (even at a relatively small scale). It's better for the company to have the 'author' of their sets just be "Lego". It's also probable that the design process within their studio is much more collaborative than we would assume, so giving one person credit over others is problematic.
  6. Well, I'm not of much help as I'm in the USA (though I still end up buying from the UK quite often). Brickset forum has a "shopping in the UK" subsection that might be useful for you: http://www.bricksetforum.com/
  7. ~ $90 complete in decent condition w/o pristine box etc.
  8. Do it! I'm thinking of cannibalizing a 42000 to MOC a nissan delta:
  9. Are you talking about the logging truck @ $120 and the 42000 @ $115 (USD)?
  10. I think that narrowing the grill/headlights and hood, while extending the fenders would give you more of a jeep look. The agility is very impressive.
  11. OK, I see your point. I'll wait to see how their revision holds up to your excellent MOC before making a decision for myself.
  12. Man... $250? I think this is a really excellent MOC/model, but I imagine I could get a standard 9398 for $170 and cobble-together (in any color that I'd like) a new body. I really like that Lego does this, and I don't want to undermine this program, but the economics aren't compelling.
  13. Maybe this got mentioned somewhere else, but Sheepo's 110 got mentioned in wired.com's article about Lego's Cuusoo program. It must have been researched before the 10k mark was passed. To me, it's the best kit mentioned in the piece, but some of the others are pretty compelling.
  14. I really like this model. I was not so into the original 9398, but I'll definitely be getting this when it comes out.
  15. This is really impressive - firing on all cylinders in terms of form and function.
  16. My copy just arrived yesterday - I thought it had to be some other order from amazon because the package was so heavy! This is a serious piece of work with good organization and clear writing. I'm really looking forward to reading through it.
