  1. Exactly! Plus, if you look at Fortrex, it looks like the bad guy flyer has some of these in trans orange: http://brickset.com/parts/4542986 While this theme isn't really a castle theme, it should be a gold mine for Balrog moc-ers. Edit: It looks like the head might be part of the body piece. http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/t_original/1464361624517049633.jpg Hm....
  2. Two team packs and three level/fun packs would fill the biggest missing characters: Eowyn and Faramir Sauron and Angmar Denathor Gondor Soldier Bolg It might be stretching it, but a team pack with Elendil and Isildur would be very welcome as well. I'd be happy with this.
  3. It adds a charming fairy-tale quality to the build. :)
  4. Words escape me. That would be the ultimate Lego set. You're renderings of the minifigures are quite good, I especially love Gil-Galad, Elendil, and Isildur.
  5. Oops. Didn't see that. I was thinking along the same lines, regarding the hair. Maybe, I'll purchase an extra cheerleader and paint it to see how it looks.
  6. Has anyone else seen the CM series 14 minifigs? http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/uploads//gallery/album_21/gallery_2351_21_251922.jpg I think the cheerleader's hair would work really well for Harley Quinn.
  7. No. I'd buy any LotR stuff Lego produced, period. I personally would rather have a $30 Balrog, than a $30 Treebeard. Just saying. We all are just posting our rants here, and asserting our individual opinions.
  8. Very excellent point. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that these themes are all past the prime, yet Simpsons and Angry Birds are still getting better treatment. The Hobbit was supposed to do to LotR what the AB movie will probably do, but that is a nasty can of worms I don't want to even start discussing. In general, I'm disappointed with lego, yet still happy that we got a theme in the first place, and like a lot of other people, I'm using this thread to vent. I've had my say, so I guess I'll stop now.
  9. Wave two would have been great, if only it wasn't the final wave. Or, it could have been a final wave, if there had been one more wave before it. Yes, the focus was most certainly on the Hobbit, and LotR suffered for it. As for the innuendos, remember, they are making a Big Bang Theory set. I don't think it has to do with the content so much as the overall tone of the source material. Both Simpsons and BBT are comedies, whereas LotR is a Doom and Gloom, apocalyptic, war-to-end-all-wars kind of thing. And who really is more important than Faramir? Eowyn and the Witch-King, and maybe Bolg. I'd say Sauron, but he wasn't in either trilogy for very long, so I would say he is tied with Faramir. Even then, three sets could include everything we are missing. A Battle of Pelannor fields, with a Minas Tirith gate, Eowyn, the Witch-King, Faramir, and some soldiers for both sides, a small Dol Guldur set with Sauron, Bolg, and Saruman, and the Balrog. That would make me happy. I agree with you regarding the Ent. If you adjust the eyes so they are level with eachother, then he actually looks a great deal like Treebeard.
  10. I don't expect Lothlorien to pass review, just like I never really thought Minas Tirith would pass. Lego is simply to stupid. Angry birds isn't even popular anymore. If they had released the sets a few years ago, then it would make more sense. Same thing with Simpsons. That show is way past the prime of its popularity. The worst thing is, the Simpsons format would have been perfect for LotR. One UCS set a year, plus periodical series of collectable minifigures. I'm still not sure why Lego favors Simpsons over LotR, as the former contains as much innuendo as the latter contains violence. Sheesh. Yes it would.
  11. Very true, very true...
  12. Yeah, I'm probably going to end up buying even Legolas and Gimli, because A) they have new face prints, and B) if we show lego that there is a demand for LotR packs, they are more likely to continue to produce them. Lego is obviously okay with including romantically involved couples in team packs, as evidenced by the Joker and Harley Quinn pack. Yes, Denethor is at the bottom of my list. A purist version can't ever match an official lego version in terms of accuracy and detail, however.
  13. Call me a hopeless romantic, but I think Eowyn and Faramir should be in the team pack. Gondor soldiers are the top priority for 'army building' dimensions sets, but it might be possible for them to do Easterling and Noldor warrior packs. In the named character department, Sauron, Bolg, Denathor, Angmar, and the aforementioned Eowyn and Faramir are the most important for me. Isildur and Elendil would be awesome as well, but odds of getting them are pretty slim.
  14. Again, this would have been forgivable, if they ended up doing a third wave. The Black Gate is the only set with Gandalf the White, and a variant of Aragorn which I am a big fan of. I'm glad they included both of them. However, if they did end up doing a third wave, they could have had Gandalf the White with Minas Tirith, and swapped him out with a soldier or two. I won't argue with the inclusion of the Eagle, but it wouldn't have been a bad thing if they left it out to include more minifigures, or maybe even a Troll. I'm very happy with the Mouth of Sauron, as his design is just perfect. A lot of people argue that he should have been the Witch King instead, but that wouldn't have made any sense. The Mouth is the best choice for a named bad guy in this set. Really, this is a no-win situation, unless Lego released a third wave with Angmar. Architecturally, the aesthetics of the Black Gate are perfect. It captures the spiky, rusting appearance quite accurately. Yes it could have been bigger, but then we would be ranting about how Lego blew the $120 dollar set on a minor battle from the end of the movie, when they could have given us the Battle of Pellanor Fields. I also like the Wizard Battle, for reasons MAB mentioned. We also got a cool printed Eye piece. Council of Elrond is actually my favorite set of the wave. It contained an unarmored version of Elrond, and is pretty much the only set that could include Arwen, unless they were to release a Coronation set at some point. A UCS Rivendell could also do it, but the odds of that ever happening were pretty small, to nonexistent. The architecture is also pretty good, and the set makes a nice parts pack. Corsair ship: Could this have been a Gondor set? Yes. Is it? No. No point in brooding over what could have been. The model itself is a marvelous rendition of the actual ship, and is one of the most movie-accurate sets of the whole theme. The minifigures are slightly disappointing. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli should have come with cloaks, and having the extra torso print for the Dead Men seems superfluous. While many argue that a new orc print should have come with this set, I think Lego could have reused the Moria Orc torso, with the green skin recolored, to quite good effect. That, imo, would have been the best option. And as for Peter Packson, his inclusion in this set was just pure genius.
  15. The second wave was actually quite good. The problem is, they released it at the wrong time. A lot of evidence points to them having planned a third wave, which ended up being canceled because of Peter Jackson's constant schedule changes. The second wave, which was supposed to be filler wave, between the other two waves, ended up being the final wave. This left us without all the aforementioned stuff, like Eowyn, the Witch King, and Gondor. My disappointment is not with the set designers, who produced excellent sets based on the source material, but with the managers, who chose which sets to release, and when to release them. They killed the theme. These are all good points. I agree with you completely.
  16. "And the rain-gray curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass...and then you see it. White shores, and beyond, a far green country, under a swift sunrise." Goodbye Lego LotR. You will be missed.
  17. That looks nothing like Cirith Ungol. That is Orthanc, in every aspect except for the color.
  18. There would also appear to be two Orthancs, one official, the other shorter and...gray?
  19. I burst out laughing when I read this. Yes, that is a very spot-on analysis.
  20. So much for that. Now I'm depressed
  21. The head and legs would be acceptable, it's the torso that needs a new print. Her armor is very distinctive, and requires its own print, in my humble opinion. Eomer's torso wouldn't work, because his armor is also distinctive, and it would look weird for them to be identical. As for the Balrog, here is a picture. I think the differences are mostly because of the lighting. In the shot from the trailer, his internal glow is much brighter. http://s13.postimg.o..._5_20_53_PM.jpg
  22. Yeah, but she wouldn't look right next to the other characters, without her own prints. Ideally, we'd get a team pack with Eowyn and Faramir, then a level pack with the Witch-King, and a fun pack with Sauron. Elindil and Isildur would also be nice, but our chances of getting them are pretty slim. I didn't notice any differences. It looks pretty similar. Same with the Oliphant. TT probably just recycled them from the LotR game.
  23. +1Having those improvised soldiers would indeed look strange to official movie characters. I prefer consistency in my collections.
  24. Unlikely. The only future Lego LotR we will get will be from the dimensions video game. That might help you fill out your main characters, though.
  25. I think by the third wave, with all the changes made with the movie schedule, and the theme's lagging sales, Lego just gave up. I agree, the best set is the Witch-King Battle. Although Sauron or the Hobbit version of Angmar would have been nice, I am glad they made a twilight Witch-King, so we can fully reenact Weathertop. Aside from that, Elrond and Galadriel are just gorgeous. They are the best three minifigures of the wave.
