On way to help with this issue is to include desirable new parts with the named characters. Take Gandalf for example. Almost everyone here has at least one of him, so not many people would buy him if he was placed in a CMF wave. If they included new parts, like Glamdring and a new hair/beard/hat piece, then the people who buy 20 Gondor soldiers would also be likely to buy 8 or 9 Gandalfs so they can update their existing wizards.

Here are two lists of my own, to go with General Magma's. Lord of the Rings: 1. Boromir (Gondor Armor) 2.Theoden (Cursed) 3. Theodred 4. Aragorn (Rivendell) 5. Legolas (Casual) 6. Hama (or Gamling, depending on which is in the first series) 7. Cirdan the Shipwright 8. Merry (Party) 9. Pippin (Party) 10. Farmer Maggot 12. Arwen (Helm's Deep) (Deleted scene) 12. Grishnakh 13. Gorbag 14. Haradrim Chieftain 15. Urk-Hai Berserker (with greatsword) 16. Peter Jackson (Bree) The Hobbit: 1. Thorin (Moria) 2. Thorin (Prologue) 3. Balin (Moria) 4. Balin (Prologue) 5. Dwalin (Final Battle) 6. Kili (Final Battle) 7. Fili (Final Battle) 8. Bofur (Final Battle) 9. Legolas (Laketown) 10. Galadriel (White council) 11. Elrond (White council) 12. Lindir 13. Bilbo (Mithril) 14. Dain (Coronation) (Deleted scene) 15. Nazgul (Armored, second varient) 16. Azog (Moria) There are of course some gaps left, like more dwarves and the other seven Nazgul, but that should pretty much cover everything else.

No, it's not her Rivendell dress. The one we got is her riding dress. http://www.alleycatscratch.com/lotr/Elf/Arwen/Chase/Cha_8570_TornLon_medf.jpg Why she doesn't have legs instead of a dress piece, I don't know, but if you compare the printing, it is the same costume. By 'Lake Town Woman,' I assume you mean Hilda-Bianca? http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/lotr/images/b/ba/DOS_-_Hilda_Bianca.png/revision/latest?cb=20141106034130

Hey General Magma, great lists, but two things. First, where is Tilda? Second, we already got Arwen in her riding outfit. That's the one we got with the CoE. I would suggest replacing it with Queen Arwen, to go with King Aragorn.

Licensed Sets LEGO Missed the Ball On/Never Made
Ql97 replied to adotnamedstud's topic in LEGO Licensed
Don't even get me started on the first Avengers wave. That stuff was just awful, bore no resemblance to its movie counterparts. At lest the second wave looks a little better. -
You have to remember, Peter Jackson has the rights to all the apendecies at the end of the RotK book. That's the reason he was able to include Dol Guldur, even though it wasn't in the Hobbit book. I would love to see him make some movies based on some of the events described, like the War in the North, and such.

Good point. I vote to leave this thread open until Orthanc has been discontinued, and Lego decides to say 'no more lotr on Ideas.'
-
Actually, most of the non-metal props are made of rigid urethane, not rubber. That way, they're less bendy.
-
I completely support this. Let's do this.
-
Anyone else notice how the artwork looks like he's trying to kill the spider with a pepper grinder?
-
Well, traditionally castle sets are released in teh summer, so we might get something then.
-
Couldn't agree with you more. The Dead Men of Dunharrow look pretty awesome. As for the Mouth of Sauron, he was the only named bad guy within a hundred miles of the Gate. I also think he looks pretty awesome.
-
You're being a little unfair to Lego on that point. Azog is a digital character, and as such, changes to his appearance can be made pretty late in production. The armor and new arm would appear to be one of these changes, almost certainly made after Lego finalized their design for the set. By the time Lego saw the new design for Azog, it was too late to do anything about it.

Exactly how I feel. We can always build what we want, but without the correct mini figure parts, we can never complete our creations.

[Petition] Save LEGO the Lord of the Rings
Ql97 replied to Trunkbass's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
In case you missed the laughing fave, my comment above was a joke. I well aware that Lego will never make Game of Thrones, and if they ever did, the theme would sell about as well as LotR did in the beginning. I was simply making a humorous analogy to Hero Factory/Bionicle.- 298 replies

So basically, we have to get Lego to make Game of Thrones, and when that dosn't sell well, they'll make more Middle Earth, right?- 298 replies

I agree with you on all points, LegoFish. Welcome to the forum!
-
Add me to that list.
-
In my defense, dream set lists are the only thing interesting left to do here. Anything fun happens over in the Hobbit thread.
-
Four sets would cover everything I want from Lego LotR: 20$ Sauron Battle: Elendil, Isildur, Gil-Galad, and a Groot-like Sauron, possibly with a small rock. 40$ Witch-King Battle: Eoywn, Rohan Merry, Theoden, Witch-King, and a molded Fel-Beast, with a catapult or something. 60$ Balrog: The title character, with Gandalf, Sam, Boromir, two Moria Orcs, and a collapsable Bridge. 100$ Minas Tirith: The citadel and gate, with Faramir, Denathor, Gandalf the White, Gondor Pipin, two Gondor soldiers, Gothmog and two Mordor orcs. I think we have better chances of getting a Lego Infinity Blade theme, though.
-
I aggre with Deathleech, lego made the figure similar to Narzug, without actually making an exact replica. Something similar happened with the original Mordor Orc. The 'Orc pit master' resembles an Orc Saruaman was giving orders to in the extended edition, but the similarity is only passing. I'm not even sur the Orc had a name, but it is the same concept: base a generic Orc off of a specific one, and just don't say it's either.
-
At this point, anything we say, do, etc. in this thread is just beating a dead horse.
-
Kind?! The word is use is 'cruel.' So cruel to give us a beautiful new part when it could have been one for Bold, Eowyn, Witch-King etc. Although, I try to be optimistic about any Middle Earth Lego we get, even if it's a new mold for orc hair.
