  1. Hoke looked sidelong at the scruffy looking raider and let a slight chuckle.
  2. I sent them all a PM and not a single one of them responded.
  3. "Excuse me there, but may I inquire as to how long this quest will be?"
  4. "Shouldn't you be in the Fields of Glory with the others? Or would you like me to take your place?"
  5. With Shadeaux rep?!?!
  6. "It would seem that we defeated her."
  7. "For some time, yes. I feel like I have been all over the world, yet I know I have one seen a glimpse of it. Most of that time was chasing after a witch who believed she could tame a god of chaos. I had never heard of anything so asinine in my entire life."
  8. "And I would politely refuse. It's much more appreciated when you earn it," Hoke says with a wink.
  9. "It is what it is," Hoke says with a shrug. "I've spent much time on this shield. It has proven a valuable asset time and time again."
  10. Hoke accepts the 75 gold with one and hand reaches his other hand out to shake. "Hoke Ablesword. You?"
  11. "I will take 75."
  12. Hoke take a Topaz out of his pack and slides it on the table towards the monk.
  13. People signing up for the fields - Is everyone ok with leaving the fields for either Elphaba or the Marketplace quest? I think at least the first part of the fields could be cleared in two weeks.
  14. "I would like to test it out as well, and mayhaps enchant it a time or two." the Mystic Knight said with a grin.
  15. "Tis true, but signing up does not guarantee I will get in."
  16. Hoke enters the Hall and sees things have calmed down a bit, save for a few heroes at the questboard. "As do I." Hoke signs up for the Fields of Glory.
  17. Hoke could tag along for this.
  18. Hoke wonders how in all of the world did the heroes accomplish so many deeds and save all of Eubric with such witless and temperamental fellows crowding the hall. He takes a long drink, slowly places the mug on the table with a slight thud, gets up, and leaves for some fresh air and less company.
  19. Are we even allowed to sell the Medal of Glory?
  20. Must have been lost in translation. The emoticon on the end is doing a 'rimshot' which means (at least to Americans) that I just told a joke. Cultural exchange lesson FTW! Oh, I know that, but in Heroica, it seems that being vanilla is the quirk, the oddity, which is ironic. But being too 'flexible' with roleplaying could lead to having a muddled/undefined character. If you can't tell, I've been quite tongue-in-cheek the last few posts.
  21. Now I see where Haldor gets his moodiness. Meh, maybe people shouldn't be so sensitive. I've posted a few times how I am playing Hoke pretty vanilla and, because of that, he seems to be somewhat unique to Heroica as straight laced characters with no historical drama seem to be in short supply. Or like when characters in Cat's Cradle by Vonnegut always carried a thermos. That is a big leap from a quirk like Spongebob's laugh.
  22. Haha. Don't get your panties in a knot. Apparently you haven't been paying attention as Hoke is the gimmick-free-man-about-town. But I will say, if all you can offer is gimmicks and quirks, then that's not very good writing. Sprinkled in for a bit of flavor? Sure. Dominating every/majority character? No. I see it a lot of that today, especially in modern cartoons. Everything is over the top, zany, gimmicky quirks stacked on top of quirks with not depth. There is a difference between having a personality/personality trait and how it interacts with everything else and having a gimmick/quirk.
  23. Quirks are highly overrated are a cover for bad writing.
  24. I concur! I just redid MK Hoke to incorporate a few new elements, but now I need to step up my game for his future classes.
  25. Hoke arrived just in time to hear the marcabre conversation between the two reformed ruffians. He listened in silence as he nursed a warm mug of cider, staring every once in awhile in the cup as he slowly swirled it around. He thought back to all the battles he faced and all the enemies he had cut down. He never raised his sword in animosity, only in necessity. It had to be black and white, there was no room for the grey. He took a long, smooth drink and continued to listen. There was always something to learn.
