I also think so... I am also searching for moderate priced 10173 for some time now, but it looks like that's not gonna happen, so I will probably build similar train from loose bricks. There are no really special bricks used, so I think that I will be able to do so. Regarding winter willage: I really love it and HP train fits in really nice with its red/black number. I also think that both 10193 - MMV boulidings would also look very nice in this willage and maybe even new Hagrids Hut. Obly problem are not-white roofs, but that could be solved (or ignored). Does anybody have that combination (10199, 10216 and 10193)? I would really like to see some pictures of them together.

For me, this set is the largest disapointment in this years Harry Potter wave. OK, the minifigs are really nice and the car is nice addition, but I think that they missed some very good oportunities here. First: why not use new large train wheels? I can understand why they were not in previus editions, but now LEGO is producing them in red and black and I really can't understand why they were not used. I think that they are even cheaper to produce then normal train wheels, because they don't have steel axles. Second: ok, even if we forget about large train wheels and go with normal ones: why the train was not adapted to allow motorisation with PF parts. Yes, it can be done easily wit PF train motor, IR reciever and new battery box, but why not include that in instruction and advertise it? There could be additional section in instructions for PF conversion and I think that many fans (like whitefang) would be happy very to motorise their train. Third: why keep the same boring design as previous editions. What I dislike most is no undercarriage other than wheels on either locomotive and wagon and that , almost irronicaly, there is mudguard for large middle wheel, even if it's not there. Fourth: where are train doors? I thought that we were past that with emerald night, but this year's trains are also all without doors. It would only take a couple of hinges and fer bricks (like on EN) Too bad. I had such high hopes for this train...

S@H cart for items in pack shows 202,95 euro, so I guess It's good deal. Basicaly you get tracks, switches and level crossing free.

Nice review, but where are the pictures?

We should get at least one more thing: PF motor sold separately. TLG is still selling old type motor (for RC trains), which doesn't make any sense. Although you could technically still use this motor with PF system (with addition of extending wire), it's not quite as good as new one (according to tests of consumption and power) and becuse of the wire its also more expensive.

And no one believed me on week ago (about egypt), hehe... I'm just wondering:are egyptian sets 1H or 2H? Because if it' 1H, then we could see another "quest" sub-theme already in 2H2011 (similar explorers, but set in another surrounding)

It will only use PF for hood, seats and spoiler, so it will most likely be something similar to 8297 - Extreme offroader 2. That's too bad, because I was really hoping for PF driven car. It looks like don't dare to produce RC controled wheeled vehicle. On reason is that they would probably need new variable speed remote (the one from trains is not suitable for cars) or the car would be very slow. Also, some elements are very stressed with technic biult cars, and after all the trouble with 8043 I think that they are very happy that they didn' took that route. The price is ok though and if the design is ok I think that it could be very succesful. 4 speed transmission is nice improvment from 8297 and I'm sure that many mods will occur with full PF motorization. March relase date also gives us hope for another large set in 2H2011.

There are some rumors (not in any way officially confirmed) about large red technic car. I hope it's not just another mon-functional Ferrari set, like enzo and 599. Ideal would be to get new Ferrari 458 Italia, motorized with PF, but I dont beleive that this will happen. It will be either fully functional PF model (most likely), or another Ferrari showcase model.

It was also written that it was limited-release for Maersk, so don't expect this in shops.

For me it's 8295 - Telehandler. Very poorly made steering, non-stable chasis, lifting mechanism which requiers long and painfull rotation of knob on back side and on top of all very high price of 95 euro makes it an easy choice. 8265 - front end loader has similar number of bricks, three instead of one linear actuator, larger wheels and very nice design and it costs 10 euro less.

Yellow bricks could come very handy for castle building, like here in my friends castle tower:

As far as seventh 1H2011 is concerned: and don't believe that we will get it. Maybe coming UCS fighter is also counted here as seventh set?
-
I was thinking more about sets similar like Orient theme from some time ago.
-
I agree also. In the last few years there was allways wery few really "civilian" sets. They were allways somehow added to other themes (buth small and red cars and yellow truck were part of traffic-garage subtheme, city corner as well, just new city house is on its own.

I agree KD, it makes no sense... But why do you automaticaly think that this means native american.

TECHNIC Sets from 2010
Cwetqo replied to LordGalewind's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Still no 2011 Technic topic? News should start leaking by now... -
Ah, nowhere... It's just an rumor. but I think that it would be very succesful.

I think that we will not see hospital theme in 2011.

Do you think its possible that we will get SW advent calendar?

8043 Excavator - Lego update
Cwetqo replied to tomacwhite's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It's 159 euro actually, but quantities were very limited even prior to this troubles. Our shop chain even had some for 102 euro (with 20% toys discount and extra 20% coupon), but after diriving to at least 6 different stores I found out that they got max. 2 pieces per store. So, availability is also problem here, but I think (or better - hope) that this will be solved soon and there will be enough sets available in holiday shopping season (from end okotober) -
Your favorite technic set?
Cwetqo replied to jd5775's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Mine is 8448 - Supercar II, but that is mainly due to personal resons. I wanted it for years and it was first of "classic" sets which I bought after my dark ages and my first E-bay purchase. If I dont count that than I guess it would be 8455, waiting to be surpassed by 8043 soon. -
4558/10001 Metroliner or 4564 Freight Rail Runner?
Cwetqo replied to TypoCorrecto's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I had both and sold 4564, but I still prefer it over metroliner. Metroliner: +classic lego set, very highly valued +great internal layout (dining, sleepin and storage areas, fake motor...) +lots of minifigs +nice platform -dull coulour (but many people like it anyway) -outdated design (was "modern" in nineties, but not anymore) -no speed regulator (you have to buy it separately) Freight Rail Runner: +timeless design (will always look good) +one wagon more +complete, ready-to-run set -no lights -two axis, shorter wagons -just two minifigs But, as allways, it all a matter of personal preference. Both are excellent trains and best in their own categories (all alter cargo trains were uglier until 4512 which is just a redesign os 4564 and all later passenger trains were also much worse, until this years passenger train, which is in some way also succesor to Metroliner. So, If you can, get BOIH! -
I buy just sets for which I anticipate interesting building, so I could harldy say that I disliked any of them. 8295 - Telehandle was annoying because steering mechanism was so poorly designed. 8880 Supercar was great build but from time to time really painfull, because of so many pieces being added in one step (and that all over the model, not just on one section) and building consisting mostly of black bricks on black bricks (with poorly readable instructions).
