Hmm, think that POTC will replace "pirates" theme? So: 2010 ===> 2011: winter/spring: Atlantis ===> Atlantis Power Miners ===> NinjaGo spring/summer: Toy Story ===> Cars (in System scale) Pirates ===> Pirates of the Caribbean Prince of Persia ===> Egypt World Racers ===> ?World Racers? Atlantis ===> Atlantis summer/fall: Kingdoms ===> Kingdoms Harry Potter ===> Harry Potter Space Police ===> Space port (atlhough I think that this will be within city theme)

I agree with you completely: I have 5590 and 4955 disassembled in bags and 6753 waiting on window shelf to find some space, so I will probably also someday sell one or both of them. The tecnhnic models are however all assembled, because they are not so easy to put apart (I once disassembled 8285 and it took me almost more then to assemble it). OK, back to topic: I love the creator idea, but I really miss the "UCS" feeling of some Model Team set. Maybe I am slightly biased about that, because MT sets were some of biggest and most expensive sets of my pre dark age era. They were never available in our country, so me and my brother knew them just from lego catalogs (usally on back page). And now I have money to buy them all, but unfortunately no space (and I still prefer large technic sets)

I have (among others): 5590: Whirl and Wheel Super Truck 4955: Big Rig 6753: Highway Transport 8258: Crane Truck 8285: Tow Truck 5893: Offroad Power and i still think that creator trucks are behind model team set if you look at thei "presenting" value. I just dont like brick built doors, windshield from ordinary panels and so on... However, it's just my opinion and I also very much like creator sets, they are just not so authentic.
-
I think that main difference is that Creator focuses more on "common" bricks, while Model Team used more specialized parts. Creator is also limited with the fact that its parts must be siutable for at least 3 official models, while Model Team designers could focus on more detailed main model. Creator sets are in general also cheaper then other sets with similar number of bricks, while Model Team sets were not such (I guess that it has something to do with number of different bricks in each set). In general, Model Team sets are highly detailed "assemble and put on shelf" models and Creator sets are more like good value bricks sources and starting point for "creative" assambly of own models. The difference between both can however be very small, like for example Creator set 4955 - Big Rig, which could easily wear Model Team marking:

Well, it seems like we vill be getting egyptian theme after all. Any ideas on waht sets ould we get? Pyramid is in my opinion a no-go, so we will probably get some temples tombs, carts and so on... I wonder if there will also be slaves, since they were key part of egyptian life,

8404 is available in austrian TRU shops and allready marked down to 79 euro. TRU truck is down to 23,99 and City construction Superpack (building site, cement mixer and digger) is even cheaper at 47,99 eur (those three would otherwise cost 120 euro)

Pennsylvania avenue 1600? -
It will surely be in minifig scale. The brige is proportionaly longer then higher and would look strange without outer towers. My best guess is that it will be in "corrected minifig scale", similar like above mentoned death star (now THAT is out of scale). Road must be around 16 studs wide (to allow 2 city vehicles to pass)and everything else could be adjusted . And on one meter long structrure even menifig will not look so unproportional. The other option is that bus and taksi will be in microfig scale (like those on creator ferry). I never saw any minifigures mentioned (although I dont know how they would do bikes then.
-
Another option is this: and two boxes of: And later maybe add those: It cost roughly the same as basic passenger train, but instead of payaing for unneeded motorized parts you will get much more attractive train and longer track. This of is an option if you want to have your train unmotorized as you wrote. To get a motorized train, upcoming passenger train is the best option.

I'm pretty sure that it will cost 59 euro (the same as 10199). I thas roughly the same part number and it just the right price spot for christmas shopping. Same goes for tower bridge which should be 320eur, just like Taj Mahal or Eiffel tower before that.
-
It looks like it's meant to go with 10199 winter toy shop: Lego to recreate the magical Christmas scenes. Christmas came a small village covered with snow! People who enjoy skating on the icy pond, you can recreate the fantastic scenes and lighted trees and owls. Christmas suite will bake bakery kind. You can light up the room lights on Pawafanshon. 7 minifigures , named after a winter with lots of accessories, such as creatures and owls 687 pieces

Well, it's not going to be the largest set (third if I'm correct) London Tower Bridge on the River Thames such as the world-famous landmark since 1894! Rare colored parts, the latest building techniques, Tower Bridge is a drawbridge that opens and consists of two pairs of towers. Challenged in making, and also recommend it for display. Tower Bridge as a single unit, you can also lock can be broken down into units and to carry. London taxi, a traditional double-decker bus (London), yellow truck is green with a bike. The model size width 102 cm, 45 cm 26 height cm depth No of pieces: 4287

I've playing with zblj's trial truck (Lynx) for several hours on our show and none of U joints broke (it has double XL motors and transmision over 4 u joints). I drove it over real rocks and some really hard terrain and I could not imagine worst conditions, so I think that U-joints are not so bad. I agree on those bevel gears though: those get deformated pretty fast when under stress.

Best Technic Set
Cwetqo replied to Pauger's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
- Best design - 8258 - Crane truck (maybe also 8285 - Tow truck) - Most complex/best functions - 8455 Backhoe (most likely to be replaced with 8043 this year) - Most revolutionary - 8275 Motorized bulldozer (PF, RC, tracks...) - Most underrated - 8448 Supercar - Best small set: 8259 - mini bulldozer - Great, but forgotten - 8851 - Excavator -
He said "non ucs", so that leave MF out. There are also som other aspects: Highes set must Eiffel Tower and longest some of the train sets (I mean with track layout. OK, it has empty space inside the tracks, but tecnicaly it the longest). Set with most volume could also be Death Star II. And there are some more open categories, for example which set is the heaviest. It should be UCS MF, but who knows... Most expensive could also be some of the arhitecture sets, if we consider low parts count.

It really should not be a lot more then City Corner. If we compare 7641-8404 Bus=Bus Bus station=Tram station Bike shop=Kiosk and bus stop Tram=Pizzeria (OK, it's not directly comparable, but amount of used bricks is similar) Plus we get sportscar with minifig (7euro) and small sweeper (comparable to 7638 which costs 10euro). So, whole set should cost no more then 70 euro (52+10+7)
-
Nice vehicles, but you are right, there should be on large building containing all of these, with one or two baseplates. One one side coud be technic brikcs for connection wit train station, in the middle bus top with spaces for busses and on other side station for tram. I will probably not be getting it (I have one bus stop from city corner, I will get similar one in in train station and that should be enough, I dont need three more)
-
They hope that we will buy Cargo Train for 180euro AND Battery with charger for additional 83euro for combined value of 263euro. Way to go LEGO, better and better every day. I will probably buy just the battery and charger for my emerald night and skip on new train line completely (ok, I will maybe buy train station)
-
Thats a disaster... I lost interest in both of the trains. AAA-s are more expensive then AA-s , running time will be significantly shorter (unuseful for club events) and worst of all, I have all rechargeable batteries in AA format (I use them for technic models, RC cars, camera...). And for us 9v users also the tracks are not usable, so we end with just engine and two (or three) cars. The only option for buying this will be if they will be sale (80euro or less for passenger). And even for that money I would rather buy TS3 train (maybe even HP one).
