A member of our LUG (it was proven in the past that he has some connections in TLC) posted a comment that new train line will be introduced in next august. It will contain two train sets, level crossing and train station. From Jamie Berards interview we can assume that these will be more children oriented trains, but for now nothing is confirmed. I hope that we will at least get level crossing and station before august (which is still nearly a year away).

Instructions To Build ALL 30 Models Of The Lego Hobby Train (10183)

My 10183 came with instructions OUTSIDE of box, so it's possible that your seller forgot to include them or kept them for himself(if I'm correct they were added to each box) -

Instructions To Build ALL 30 Models Of The Lego Hobby Train (10183)
Cwetqo replied to AFOL SF's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Today I wanted to build one of the models from 10183 which i had not yet built before. As usual I went to lego.com for instrutions, but now instead of "factory" there is "Lego design by Me" which is ok. The problem is that that together with "factory" also all instructions dissapeared. Is there any way to still get these files? I tried pdf-s mentioned in this topic, but the quality is really bad. So, if someone still has these files, I would really appreciate if it could send them to me, or show me where on internet I could find them. -
TECHNIC Sets from 2010
Cwetqo replied to LordGalewind's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I am more interested in this: So, It looks like we will finally (after 15 years or so from 8868) get official air compressor. I wonder how will they do it? From the position of the pump on the log loader it seems that a larger rebuild will be need to fit the motor in (the pump is way too far back to be in suitable postion for just adding the motor) -
There is one additional problem: in Slovenia we dont have LEGO store, but there is one in Munich, not too far away, and its quite common for us to buy there. With old card there was no problem, it was the same for us as for germans: we got the card, collected the stamps and use the bonus. But with new VIP program that is not possible. To apply for membership you have to be a citizen of the state in which is the shop, so we will not be abel to get VIP club membership. And all our collected bonus stamps will be worth nothing (at the time I need just to more to get 25€ bonus, but there is no way that I could go to LS in the next ten days, before the program will start). Its yet another way for TLG to show us that some countries are worth less than others (like they care... )

Do Lego stores sell Power Functions parts?
Cwetqo replied to steele's topic in General LEGO Discussion
LEGO store in Munich has XL and M motors, battery boxes, LED lights, IR recivers and remote controls (old, vithout speed regulation). The prices are the same as on S@H, but I fear that it was just temporrary offering, because PF parts were just in one of the bins with "goodies" and not on the shelf like other stuff. Also, they were just in plastic bags, no boxes or other packing. It's a good way to get XL motor for which you would otherwise have to get bulldozer or dino, or maybe some more lights or other parts. I think that each LEGO store should have these parts available at all time. -
The different prices on LEGO in the US vs. Europe
Cwetqo replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It's the same with computer parts and electronics. Graphic card that costs 100$ (70euro) in the US is usually 100 euro in most european countries. regarding differencies between various european countris: I have been to most of them and the prices are roughly the same, at least in continental part (Germany, Austria, Italy, France etc...). In scandinavia the prices are higher, but people also earn more so it equals out. It's tough for a visitor though. Lets say you go to denmark and you want to buy new modular fire station. In US it costs 100euro, in germany 150euro and in Denmark almost 200euro. My friend was in legoland in billund recently, but even if he is a huge lego fan, he came back with almost nothing, besides a few souvenirs. It's just too expansive. -
Thnx, Bonester! At first there was cargo version, but after I got some more windows I modified it into passanger train. And running around christmas tree: Currently I'm more into Western theme, and since I am building 1,5mx2,5m layout for our next LUG meeting, I will probably modify it into Wild West version (with medium BBB wheels)

Hello fellow train fans, greetings from Slovenia. I have been following EB forum for over a year now and I very much like the recent development of train section (with traintech). I am also a member of our local club, kocke.si, but since lego trains are not that common in Slovenia I really enjoy to read all the stuff from all lego train "fanatics" here. I started my Lego collection with Metroliner in last November. Soon after that I purchased Hobby Train set, together with a lot of extra parts which enables me to have 5 or more sets built in the same time. After few months I bought some more of the track (unfortunately I dont have space for large permanent setut, but I plan on something like Brickster has), second Metroliner and Engine from set 4563. After Lego announced Emerald Night I was very excited and I bought it as soon as I could. A few days ago I got SFSC and now my main goal is to get cars for it, which will unfortunatetly take some more time, doe to the prices. My current collection: I also have some freight cars, but they are currently disassembled. Swiss crocodile (from hobby trains) Emerald Night (with 4-6-4 configuration and 9v motor in tender) Santa Fe Super Chief BNSF (from Hobby Trains - I plan to change the colour scheme, because this red black configuration is reall ugly) Simple steam train from my new years layout (from Hobby Trains) Then there are two modications with wchich I am not reaaly satisfied so I will disassemble them soon. This I engine from 4563 extended to the length of the engine from 4512 And this is from some parts of engine from 7898 which got for a few euro (incomplete) in some shop in Munchen I modded my two metroliners in three "pullman" wagons, but they are too long so I also plan to make somethins else from them.

Like many of you I wanted a train set for a long time. Even in my dark ages I never hesitated to enter a toy shop and browse through various sets. I always wanted LEGO trains but they were always to expensive and too hard to get in my country. So, after I endend my dark ages with purchase of several large technic sets, my wife found out that one her older co-workers has large lego train. I immediately wanted to buy it, but she said that it's not for sale. After some time I "unofficialy" found out that we were supposed to get this train as wedding present (we were to get married in a few weeks). But, beacuse this was "unofficial" information I could not ask what train it is, so these few weeks of uncertainty were really hard. I knew that the train was cca 10 years older so I hoped its not 4559 or 4560. I wished for 4563, but when I finally opened the package, there was 4558 Metroliner. At first I was not so happy with this, but when I began building It I realized how great train it is.

OK, so now we have: -cargo train (good) -passenger train (ugly) -AFOL train (too short) -passenger train station So, we need at least: -additional cars for emerald night (urgently) -rail crossing -cargo train station (with crane) And these would be nice: -cargo rolling stock like my own train -PF signals and rail crossing Also, i think that LEGO needs to introduce two new train sets, one with complete set of PF elements and other with just motor and battery. That would really start up PF train sales. Now it's really too expansive (for the price of powering up my EN I bought 9V motor and motorised it and i still had money lef to buy MISB SFSC plus motor on ebay)

8295 Telescopic Handler Review
Cwetqo replied to ZO6's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have two of these: for original price (90€) it was no-go. For discounted price (59€) it was good buy and great parts pack. For current price (40€) it's very good buy. As a set it's not so great. Ok, the boom mechanism and gearing is nice and it looks ok, but otherwise I was dissapointed during the assembly. Steering is made in a wierd way, the front stands are sluggish and your hand could fall of during all the rotation needed for operating the arm. As a parts pack it's nothing special, but considering it's low price it's great. You get for medium large tyres, one linear actuator, one switching ring and a lot of studless beams, pins and other stuff. -
349 dkr is around 46eur, but i think tht the price will be 39eur/49usd

Exclusive Train 10194 Emerald Night (Exclusive 2009)
Cwetqo replied to der seb's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Based on my knowledge on that kind of "problems" some heads will (or should) be rolling on TLC floor soon. TLC is dealing with chinese suppliers now and this could be tricky (as they found out, the hard way)- 559 replies

If by nipple you mean the pin on the top of the motor that this could be a big problem. On longer engines the motor has to move freely left and right to follow the curves. If this pin is broken than you will have to find some ohter way to achieve this, but this will also make the motor too high. It

I think that there are more reasons for that: -with every set you get at least 16 curved rails and usually just 2 or 4 straight rails. Because of that there are a lot more curved rails on the market than straight ones which leads to price difference (higher demand equals higher price). -If you think of expanding your basic set you first think of straight rails. So everbody wants straight rails and again the price goes up. -you could still buy new curved 9 rails on LEGO S@H (i suspect that this is because of lower demand like described in first two points), but if you want straight rails you have to go to Bricklink. And again, higher demand equals higher prices. So, everyone wants straight rails and the price reflects this. I don't know why LEGO doesn't produce 9 straight rails any more, but I suspect that it's because they want to force us to switch to RC trains. Maybe they dont even produce curved rails anymore and they are just selling off old stock, but this phase is taking a little too long for that...

Nice version of BNSF could also be made from hobby train bricks. It lacks some nice detail and especially wonderfull colors of BSNF but otherwise it's OK

Exclusive Train 10194 Emerald Night (Exclusive 2009)
Cwetqo replied to der seb's topic in LEGO Train Tech
It could be that they got 10194-s and by mistake put them on shelfs (maybe just in this shop), but removed them after clarifying this with TLC. I asked about this LEGO people at event in St. Polten (it was just after the guy told us that it's available) and all I got was reply that "no way that the set is in stores because it will be available after april 15-th".- 559 replies

Exclusive Train 10194 Emerald Night (Exclusive 2009)
Cwetqo replied to der seb's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Look how cheap is new motor! The price is 12€, so you could get 3 for the price of one 9V motor. If only it could take power from 9v rails, and we would have cheap replacement for our aged 9v motors. And it takes middle "blind" wheel as well, and you could use different wheels, so it's very nice for future MOC-s. Has anyone checked the distance between two driving wheel on 10194? Is it the same as between two axles of new motor? That would make a winning combination fo 10194.- 559 replies

In my opinion 8289 is one of the worst technic sets. Regarding some "classic" technic sets I would definitely recommend E-bay. In the past 10months (after long long dark age), I bought (on e-bay): 8880 - Supercar - 34€ 8448 - Super Street Sensation - 86€ 8466 - 4x4 offroader - 44€ 8868 - Airtech Claw Rig - 46€ 8439 - Front End Loader - 70€ 8436 - Pneumatic Truck - 29€ 8386 - Ferrari 1:10 - 14€ Sets were complete, or were missing just a few smaller parts. Only problem is that you have to live with the fact that sets are not new, and that they are usually covered with dust and you to wash them thorougly. In some cases I got sets that are almost in new condition, with yet unglued stickers, well preserved box, instructions, disassembled and nicely packed in smaller plastic bags, really like new. OK, back to theme: I would definetly recommend geting 8880, 8448 and 8466.

Exclusive Train 10194 Emerald Night (Exclusive 2009)
Cwetqo replied to der seb's topic in LEGO Train Tech
The boiler itself is 6-wide and when you add up those smoke deflectors you probably get to even wider than eight studs. And its even wider on the wheel level, because there are double ful width technic beams on each side (+standard whee gauge which is around 6-wide), so we come close to 10 stud wide. Its realy too "fat", especially if you compare it to some other, sleeker user MOC-s, which have 4 or 5 wide boiler and half width beams on wheels. So, we have to start thinking about at least 8-wide and 34-40 long cars for this train to look OK. A 220€ train with just some stupid looking "flexible" track, one car and without any switches? It seem that LEGO is realy aiming this at "hard" fans, who will be ready to pay such a price. Last year 170€ bought you RC cargo train with nice engine (although it's far from emerald night) ,4 cars, a platform, RC controller, full circle of tracks and 2 switches.- 559 replies

Exclusive Train 10194 Emerald Night (Exclusive 2009)
Cwetqo replied to der seb's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I was there, but I was somehow disappointed (with the presentation of 10194, the rest was great). Yes, 10194 was there, but just one box and one (non-motorized). emerald night. XL engine was boult in, but it semms that the new battery box was not available, so there were some unconnected wires on the back of the engine. Other new PF stuff was not there just aroun one meter fo new flexible track (which even uglier than it looked on pictures). Here are some pictures: The box: (the whole presentation was just this:one lonely box with handwritten "weltneuheit" (world news) written on a sheet of paper next to it) Train itself: Passenger car (you can notice ugly new tracks) Notice the wires (sorry for quality, it was taken with phone) TGV running by: Here you can see new tracks connected to old: My first impression is that it is an nice train, but some things could be done better. In my opinion the boiler is too bulky, and the passsenger car is too short. Whole train look silly with engine pullin just one car half size of it. The colours are very nice though, both engine and car are looking like very a good source of parts for future MOC-s.- 559 replies

Technic sets from 2009

Well I did a simple 8275 pneumatic conversiona and it's working much better than original one. I was just waiting for PF pneumatic switch...
