Question about motorizing Maersk Train/Emerald Night
Cwetqo replied to adello25's topic in LEGO Train Tech
You get all you need for motorizing Maersk train (motor, remote, reciver, battery box), but not for Emerald night. You will need extra PF XL motor, because emerald night is driver differently. If you have acces to bricklink or S@H then I suggest that you get XL motor, reciver and battery box from there (and use remote from first cargo train) -
The 8466 Offroader
Cwetqo replied to Darth Dino's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Review would be nice! The set itself is one of my favourite technic cars (second after 8448), but it looks like its value is dropping. I was selling one at our LUG meeting thes weekend (in mint condition, with very well preserved instructions) and I did not sell it. The problem is that its getting obsolete (at least for younger lego fans) with all of todays PF models. Almost every other one was asking: is it remote controled? Besides that its coulour is not compatible with any other technic sets and its wheels are too heavy for any serious offroad usage. But anway, it's still very very good and impresive set and so I decided to keep it and mybe biuld B-model (has anyone tried it?) -
It works fine on iPAD 2 with iOS5 (I use it regulary for EB)

1h 2012 models
Cwetqo replied to JunkstyleGio's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have two: I bought one with 40% discount and I got other one on our TT competition. This set is really just good for pneumatic parts, beams and some standard technic parts. There are no panels and almost no gears. -

I was disapointed with 8049 tractor with log loader and I sense that it will be the same with this set. -
The one without 2H sets (Malevolence etc...)? Those pics were already posted some time ago.

OK, we are back and the situation is: Lego store: Toys story Woodys roundup is 35 euro and thats it. I have never been there and see so litle discount as this time. But hey have assembled all recent exclusive sets and this also counts for something (it was strange to see that UCS imperial shuttle is bigger than new super destroyer, which is twice as expensive) Muller has large farm set dicounted, but not much (its 50 euro) Obletter has the same (I learned that its Muller owned) Kaufhof has farm sets 50% off and some other discounts as well (train station, railway crossing) snd on top of that they give 15% off if you buy three sets (they dont have to be the same), so that was the dela of the day for me. Oh, and 3677 train 140 euro, marked down from 170, as we predicted. I hope this helps someone.

I am also re-building mine (original, not bricklink assembled) these days. Laptop instructions are maybe even better, because original ones really take too much space. I also tried iPAD, but its screen is way to small fos such large model.

Good Value Used Sets
Cwetqo replied to Andrew Lowe's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
True! I got most of my large sets that way (8880 for 35euro, 8466 fo 45 euro, williams f1 for 45 euro etc...) 8386 has another "problem" (why it ha so low price): it's too simple, it's out of scale with other technic formulas and was cheap when new. So, price around 40 euro is normal for this set (I got mine partially assembed - it looks like someone gave up - for 12 euro plus postage) -
Thank you. I also called them and got the same info (lady said that they have A LOT of them prepared).

Does anybody know if VW van and Post Office available at lego shop munchen? Supaympa says no, but that information is several dayds old. I am deciding betweeen going this weekend (nice weather, but Bus and Post Office may not be there) or next weekend (bad weather, but better possibility for new sets)

Pozdrav svima u Hrvatsku!

Unfortunately I have seen no pictures or other details about those sets, just what I allready wrote here (which is not much). You can beleive it or not and time will tell what is true and what. Meanwhile, I have decided to remove myself from further debate here until there will be more (presentable) facts, like pics.

I suspected it could be something like this. There were reports about 3677 being sold for very different prices over europe. Germany should have 150 eur price, but it seems that Kaufhof at first used higher price and then "faked" 20% discount.
-
LEgo Shop had nothing on Sale? I am going there in two weeks time and I hoped for some discounts. How much was 3677? 20% off would mean 120 euro. Did they had many or just few pieces?

This is not what I saw, at least not all of it. It could be that TLG changed some sets and price ranges, but I doubt it (it is too late for that).
-
I see that LoTR fans like to read long books, but also like to write very long posts. ;) Its interesting to see so many speculations and there are some nice ideas, but I am afraid that TLG will not be so inovative. From what I know (and comes from reliable source) LoTR sets structure and pricing will be the same as in PoTC. There will be sets from all three LoTR movies in first wave (or at least from two, 1st and 2nd) and we will get Hobbit sets in 2nd wave.
-
Mine has slotted version, if this helps.
-
Joust is not in the catalogue because TLG exclusives never are. The reason is that those catalogues are meant for shops to order sets and since they can not order exclusives, there is no ned for them to be there. Also, TLG can control leakage of exclusive set picture better that way. As fo the other Kingdoms sets: I hope there will be more, and that is possible, but unfortunetly the fact is that they are not in neither 1H or 2H catalogue.

I'v seen (unfortunately just some small ones) pictures of both. Jedi Interceptor has been allready posted (in dark green) and y-wing looks like 7658, but I think that it has solid engines (like CW version, but I'm not 100% sore, since pic was reaaly small) and for me it did not look good. I dont know why, but its just not so nicely designed like 7658 (similar was with new slave 1 - I still very uch prefer older version).

Is it too much to hope for higher torque cluctch. Combination of it with 8110 hubs (in 8-24 layout of course) and torque tubs plus very high gear ratio could work very reliable. Some well-designed TT-s (like ones from zblj, nico and others) could take much abuse even without those specila parts, so i think that it could not be impossible for lego to make good offroader). I guess that we will have to wait and see.

Yeah, beacuse it was in time when lego was still affordable. But today we have PF and all you can get for 120 euro is crap like 8070 or 8053 (with motor). -

I suspect it will be smaller. Pictures could be misleading, especially if you dont know for sure what type of wheels are used. True, size can also be determined with other elements, but regardless of that mistakes could occur. For me it was like that with 8049 tractor with log loader. It looked promising on pics, but when I saw assembled, I was really disaponited. I have doubts because 8285 is the same size as 8258, which is huge set with 1800+pcs and 160+ euro price. Even if there are a lot less bricks (500 less) and there is no motor, I cannot see how it could be similar sized (unless it looks really empty, or has large empty space at the back for logs). Anyway, I am looking forward to it and I hope it will not be same disapointment like 8053 compared to 8421.
