I think your Queen of Spies came together really well and the Sightless is a cool fig.

You've got some great figures here. I love the Hunter, Fire Mage, Farmer, Norse Chieftain and all your Nocturnus figures. I especially like the staff you made for the Heroic Demon! Based on the limited number of theme appropriate printed torsos I would expect to see a lot of overlap, especially for a contest that has as long a duration as this one. I was trying hard to get my series in early to avoid the desire to change something if I saw another series with a very similar design. I'm amazed at all the really unique figures that have been coming out from all the entries. Its been fun waiting for each new posting in this contest.

McCoyed's 3rd Anniversary Historica CMF Series
legoloco replied to mccoyed's topic in Guilds of Historica
You've got some great figures here. I love your Sculptor, High Druid, Bard, Glassblower & Magister. It is always great to see non-warrior figures to flesh out the rest of Historica society. I didn't think to focus on that with my series and after seeing so many great entries I wish I had thought of that aspect more. -
I love the Nocturnus figures, especially Milady, great job.
-
I really like the Lava Miner and the Northern Lady, the backwards torso for the hunter was very good use of the part too.
-
Thanks Goliath. Out of my 16 figures 8 of them use the back printing of the original figure as the front of my figure. The Dragon Knight and Knight of the Order of the Burning Stag both use torsos from Legends of Chima figures. The Dragon Knight is the back side of the torso used in the Worriz figure found in 4 sets and the Order of the Burning Stag is the back side of a torso used in 10 of the new Fire Chi figures and can be found in 11 different Lego sets, a different Worriz is one of the figures.

Love the Morroval Warrior. The Bird of Prey Trainer and Music-Box Monkey Man are great additions / depictions of other members of society outside of the standard warrior/creature mix.
-
Your Lich Lord is perfect and I really enjoy the use of the translucent hook as an accessory on the Witch of the Wilds.
-
I really like the Mitgarian Waitress, Avalonian Gardner and Strange Lady, great job.
-
Love the Evil Queen and Naga Warrior, I was surprised how well the WW head piece works on the later.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I'm glad people seem to like the multi-colored elves. Since I'm extremely new to GoH I wasn't sure if people would think I was rocking the boat by making up this variety but when I saw the multi-colored orc head pieces that's where my mind went. At this point my lego collection is made up primarily of star wars themed sets so I have a good visual memory for the SW theme specific parts. This ended up biasing my choices for my series and I think a lot of the SW themed torsos lend themselves well to use in GoH. vitreolum - thanks, I really like your Lich Lord and Witch of the Wilds Lord Vladivus my intro post for Avalonia can be seen here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=85920&view=findpost&p=2009787

This was a great idea for a contest I really enjoyed working on it. Avalonia: Name: Elven Swordsman Bio: The mysterious Enchanted Forests in the western region of Avalonia is home to many tribes of elves. Given the shifting nature of the forest there are communities that have rarely if ever been encountered by humans. This is a swordsman of one of those communities. Name: Elven Herbalist / Healer Bio: An elven healer who has studied the flora of the Enchanted Forest and uses her knowledge of their various properties to heal all who seek her help. Name: Elven Maiden / Ranger Bio: An elven maiden and ranger from the Enchanted Forest. This is my sig fig for Avalonia and I am just very fond of her so I wanted to include her in this contest. Name: Avalonian Merchant / Baker Bio: This merchant/baker comes with a butter churn which helps with her baking business. Any excess butter she produces she markets to buyers in Nocturnus. Some in that guild will pay a premium for her product. It seems that using butter churned from the cream of innocent Avalonian cows adds a subversively decadent nature to enchanted pumpkin pies that helps to increase the evil quotient. Kaliphlin: Name: Archer Bio: A typically attired archer that can be found throughout Kaliphlin. Name: Royal Guard Bio: An elite guard employed by royalty in Kaliphlin with appropriately ornate armor. Name: Knight of the Southern Cross Bio: A member of a holy order that can be found wandering the eastern areas of Kaliphlin. The order is comprised solely of female fighters who have pledged to protect all of Historica from the evils that often spill forth from Nocturnus. Mitgardia: Name: Axe-Man Bio: A human fighter from Mitgardia who specialized in fighting with a long axe. Name: Fighter Bio: A human fighter from Mitgardia who specialized in fighting with a flail and shield. Name: Dragon Knight Bio: These are a clan of oddly clean shaven humans who inhabit small areas in the northern Rakath Mountain range along the border between Mitgardia and Nocturnus. They do not feel particularly aligned with either area and are content to keep to themselves. Their culture idealizes the might and prowess of dragons and their armor is fashioned to resemble dragon scales. Nocturnus: Name: Creeping Swamp Fiend “Tentacled Tickler” Bio: It is whispered that those in Nocturnus who practice dark magicks and recreational gardening can grow fiends in the darkest depths of the swamps. As saplings they are understandably vulnerable, requiring the warm waters of the Moruth Swamplands augmented occasionally with human blood. It takes many years for them to grow to their partially humanoid form. An interesting aspect of Creeping Swamp Fiends is that if you survive an attack and manage to hack one in half you can in fact count their rings to tell how old they were. The moniker, “tentacled tickler” has been given to them over the ages by many a wizened nanny or wet nurse. Stories of their horrors are told to children throughout Historica when they’ve been misbehaving. These fiends are said to be fond of holding unruly children upside down by their ankles and tickling them with a ferocity that leads to broken ribs, collapsed lungs and eventually death. Name: Flesh Eater Bio: These mindless monstrosities are the work of necromancers in Nocturnus. They are cobbled together from parts of victims and instilled with the need to rend human flesh from bone. Eyes are a weak point deemed unnecessary in their creation, they find their prey using their acute sense of smell. Name: Menials Bio: These are simple minded creatures that are often used by others as muscle. They can be bargained with and will trade their labor / fighting ability for whatever it is they desire at the moment. They will remain loyal and uphold their end of the deal as long as they feel they are getting what they were promised. Otherwise they are vicious brutes that will destroy without conscience. Name: Volcano Lord Bio: A creature whose form is influenced by the lava that flows through the volcanic areas of Nocturnus. This allows him to generate a flaming touch to attack his enemies. Undecided: Name: High Priestess – Order of the Burning Stag Bio: I haven’t fully fleshed out a back story for these two yet. Name: Knight of the Order of the Burning Stag Bio: A human Knight in the Order.

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
legoloco replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks, the honor guard are in the photo above with Lord Arden. The swordsmen use the star wars Weequay torso from set 8128 Cad Bane's Speeder, I always thought they would be great castle armor torsos so I was glad to use them. -

IMG_8758 (951x1024) by Legoloco_MKE, on Flickr The Lady Elyscia, adopted daughter of Lord Arden ruler of the Isle of Morn. Lord Arden follows in a long line of family members as the Lord of the land. Two decades ago this land was being attacked by a group of outlaws that made camp in the Enchanted Forests. At first they were content to raid for food and supplies never harming the people of the land and scarcely destroying property. Lord Arden sent additional troops to guard the various villages and hamlets and the threat subsided for a time. When it flared up anew it was no longer petty thievery they had to contend with, now the outlaws wrought destruction and death where they went. Lord Arden, never asking his men to endure something he would not, lead his men into the Enchanted Forests to bring the outlaws to justice. Many of his men were lost though they did prevail. On their return they came upon an encampment that had been raided hours earlier, the inhabitants dead, save for an infant girl held tight in her dead mother’s arms. Lord Arden collected the girl and brought her to his wife, the Lady Elaina. Together they raised her as their own for the fates had never blessed them with children. Lord Arden had encountered orcs in his travels and knew that his adopted daughter shared their coloring but her features were fine like the elves that inhabit the Enchanted Forests. Given the reputation of the Forests, constantly shifting and changing like a living labyrinth, Lord Arden assumed she could be a member of a tribe of elves that had to that point never been encountered by man. As she grew Lord Arden imparted in the Lady Elyscia his reverence for the land, his dedication to honor and justice, and the belief that all the peoples of their land were valued for their contributions. He made sure she was educated in the subjects any good ruler should know as well as how to lead armies and defend herself with any number of weapons. When she was a young adult she traveled forth alone through the Enchanted Forests and the Mystic Isles, not in search of glory or fame but in search of herself and her place in the world. IMG_8759 (1024x766) by Legoloco_MKE, on Flickr When she returned from her journey she was accompanied by two newcomers to the land, at first they were known only as the Twins. It was known that the Lady Elyscia encountered them during her travels through the Mystic Isles and people assumed they must be of the “Water Folk” which caused some to refer to them as the Sisters of the Sea. While their origins remain a mystery there are now known by their actual names, Aurora and Agatha. They quickly became recognized for their fighting prowess and respected for their ability to inspire those they lead. It was easy for all to see why they were Lady Elyscia’s most valued commanders and advisors. However, their cold and reserved demeanor led some to whisper a different name for them. Far from their presence, the brave and the foolish alike refer to them facetiously as the Sisters of Mercy because that is something they have not been known to show. TASK 1: Militia of the Isle of Morn: IMG_8722 (1024x525) by Legoloco_MKE, on Flickr Lady Elyscia’s father, Lord Arden shown with his honor guard. IMG_8730 (1024x682) by Legoloco_MKE, on Flickr Swordsmen of the land IMG_8734 (683x1024) by Legoloco_MKE, on Flickr Heavy Lancers – They wear light armor to move quicker while carrying their heavy pikes and they have robust helmets because they defend against cavalry attacks which leaves them vulnerable to blows from above. IMG_8762 (1024x742) by Legoloco_MKE, on Flickr Bowmen (Longbow and Crossbow) TASK 2: IMG_8765 (1024x721) by Legoloco_MKE, on Flickr When traveling the Lady Elyscia travels with the Twins, Aurora & Agatha, as well as two regular swordsmen of the land. The Twins can be seen outfitted for battle in case they encounter trouble in their travels. LANDGRAB: Avalonia Map - Edit1 by Legoloco_MKE, on Flickr I would like to claim the island to the southwest of the Gloomy Isles to be known as the Isle of Morn (ringed in yellow). -
Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

I've been planning on joining the GoH for a while now. I agree with the sentiments that MiloNelsiano mentioned, for a new person there is so much going on with the GoH that it seems overwhelming. I'll be joining Avalonia as that seems most in line with the aesthetic that I currently enjoy the most, although I do like the endless possibilities that Nocturnus would offer. I'm still polishing my sigfig's story and I've got a few Lego orders from overseas that need to arrive so I can have my intro and Tasks I & II done all at once. In the next 2 weeks I should have things ready to post. I'm looking forward to the fun. -
Wow, this is beautiful. I love models that have a minimalist aesthetic. That's a hard thing to do very well because it needs enough detail so it isn't bland without going overboard. This is perfectly done.

Local Targets are doing the clearance thing (Chicago area) they seem to each do something different so obviously YMMV but this is what I've noted: The one Target that still had PoP sets salvaged them after only 50% off, I've found an odd set here & there that was hidden and they are out of the store's system so you might not want to wait if you see them at that discount. A different Target has the small PotC sets at 50% off, 4191, 4181, 4182 & 4193. I wouldn't expect those to go to 75% either so I bought what I wanted at 50. A couple stores had the Tie Defender at 50%, only one had the ARC-170 at 15% off. A few stores had Cars 2 sets at 30% off, I didn't pay to much attention as I'm not interested in that line. Some stores had HP 30% Freeing Dobby, Quidditch Match, Forbidden Forest, Knight Bus & Hogwarts Express. Interestingly some stores only had a few of the sets on clearance not all. As of yesterday I found the Collectible Minifigs 4 on discount 50%, I was mainly interested in grabbing musketeers & vikings.

Was in a Target today in the Chicago area (before work) and noticed that they had two newer sets "clearanced" along with the older PoP and Atlantis. They had the HP - Quidditch Match and the Cars 2 - Ultimate Build Lightning McQueen. I know % off varies with store, mine was at 30% right now.
