This has been a great competition. I couldn't enter due to a shortage of time, but maybe next time. I do have a suggestion for the moderator's. I find that when judging, my eyes are being drawn to the rendered images. Maybe it's me, but perhaps it is better to let the main categories, e.g. not the render category, post unrendered images only to create a level playing field. That being said, excellent contest with many great builds. I found that micro category had especially great builds. Seems that restrictions breed creativity.

True, but who'd want to build in LDD? -

SR-3D does run in combination with Bootcamp/Win 7, and we (MAC users) have Bricksmith, although not as advanced as SR3D it works quite well. Rendering can be done on the "MAC side" so to speak with Pov-Ray 3.7, even if you build the model in a Windows application. -

30244 Anakin's Jedi Interceptor - Star Wars Polybag Download 30246 Imperial Shuttle - Star Wars Polybag Download 30247 ARC-170 Starfighter - Star Wars Polybag Download Errors: None, only the renders show the models on a stand. Those are NOT included in the actual model and are therefore not included in the .LDR file. Don't know if this is bending the rules too much?

This should replace the model made by Widetent, as that one misses everything except the main building. 10199 Winter Village Toy Shop - Seasonal Download Errors: All minifig faces have been replaced by standard grin pattern. Torso of minifig decorating the tree has been replaced with fitting replacement. The cape of the female carol singer consists out of two capes, to create the two colors. Something I noticed is that the ladder is not wide enough in LDraw to accommodate the legs of the minifig.

[LDD MOC] 71,000 piece, 13-foot Super Star Destroyer
lego2lego replied to Fox Hound's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I didn't know who you were before you mentioned your "Mon Calamari"(should have followed your first link). You obviously have way more experience than most of the people here. I believe the giant venator was a commission, but I didn't realise it has been that long since his last post. And for what it is worth, seeing your earlier work, you do have the credentials to be entrusted with LEGO's money. -

In addition to Anio and Bob de Quatre; over at MOC pages Sylvain Ballivet has built erik varszegi's venator without the original steel structure and is currently building one 16,4 feet long. Maybe getting into contact with him will get you some tips on how to achieve an internal structure of 100% LEGO. -

First of all, this is an amazing achievement. I can't image the time, frustration and dedication this must have cost you. However, like many before have said, there aren't a lot of people who can afford to build this. What I have seen is that typical instructions for, let's say, a modular building sell for around $10. And they sell 200 copies of them if it's a nice enough model. That's pdf instructions for a proven model. You want to sell the digital file, without really knowing if it is structurally sound. That's for really hardcore builders, and there aren't that many around (excluding the nice folks around here). Get some "corporate" sponsors, because I too would want to see this thing in real bricks. -
Thank you, I use JPsunrise_Probe.hdr for most of my recent renders, this one included.

But it goes beyond zooming and rotating, it actually shows you, with an animation, were the parts go. I recently rebuilt my Galaxy Explorer and I found that the difficulty of the instructions is way more challenging than say, 42009 Mobile crane MKII which is a three parts per step affair. I exaggerate only slightly, but LEGO is simplifying their instructions to the point a three year old can build a flagship technic set. I agree with Superkalle that this takes away from the building experience.

10197 Fire Brigade - Modulars Download: Errors: none. The helmets and bell have been rendered chrome gold instead of the original metallic gold because it looks more like the real thing in chrome gold. The .ldr uses the original metallic gold.

The white part isn't a problem, it is your background. See the first page of this thread, chapter 7.2.
