Oh, d'oh, my bad. Thanks for clearing that up!
-
Why does everybody think Anakin's Starfighter is a micro-set? It costs 50 EUR and comes with multiple new minifigs (note it say "neue Minifiguren" as opposed to "neue Minifigur") - that can't be a microfighter, can it? Or am I missing something? Sorry, I am a bit confused.
-
For me they work, including the AT-DP, but ok.
-
The German price tag reads 29,99 EUR, so it is a small set. It is the usual Lego store price for a set of some 200 pieces. You know, think of the latest V-Wing or Vulture Droid; and think smaller than the current Snow Speeder. I don't know what people expected from this, but certainly not a large set. The links on the last page are still active.

Who said the Geonosis troopers are based are based on anything canon? Besides being prelims, i.e perhaps just placeholders, they could be Lego's invention like these gentlemen. Of course, I still hope the Geonosis battle pack figures change to the TCW ARF troopers.
-
Thanks for the link! I will wait with my final judgements, but so far the AT-DP is the only set I really like. Senate Commandos are odd. I know they are said to be cancelled and prelims, but still... Even prelims could have had the real Senate Commando helmets if they were meant to be the TCW Senate Commandos. Odd. Perhaps some Imperial Senate Commandos? Another oddity is the micro-Republic Gunship not having a pilot, but a commander as far as I can see it.

I for one agree, but the problem is that Lego may not do such a set. They favour vehicles over scenery sets and the scene on Geonosis had too little action, while Mustafar is treated like the set-up to the big duel. ... which is good, since the Mustafar council slaughtering is not what Lego should do as an action set, even though us AFOLs would like it for the minifigs.

6th Anniversary REVIEW: 75036 Utapau Troopers
Flieger replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It is a well executed BP with attractive figures, but I still think the Death Star Troopers and the Kashyyyk Troopers were better. It is just that this wave was very, very good when it came to BPs. I have two little problems with this BP: 1) The Droid. I know there was a Tri-Droid in the background of Utapau somewhere, but a Crab Droid would have still been the far better choice. It may be just me, but I think this scene is far more iconic than this... 2) The Death Star Troopers and the Kashyyyk Troopers have a lot of sets to go with, while Utapau is still rather unexplored. There is the Wheelbike, but that is it. The Kashyyyk sets combine a lot better e.g. Again, this is just complaining about extremely minor issues, I am very happy to have this set. It was actually the first of the BPs I bought in 2013. -
The whole issue is a bit tricky, because there was no TCW Hailfire Droid, but Hulk_Smash's info about the camouflaged troopers in the Geonosis pack could indicate that it is a TCW set. On the other hand, he said their mould is that of the Kashyyyk trooper, not that of the ARF trooper in TCW. Anyway, Lego could just have decided to do their own camouflaged troopers (i.e. non-canon). They did that before in the Kashyyyk BP, two of the four troopers there are not canon. Perhaps camouflaged clones just sell well... In short, I am pretty sure the Hailfire Droid will be a movie based set. But rather than new Jedi, I prefer non-Droid Seperatists. There are so many missing, and a Seperatist set is exactly what could give us a Wat Tambor or a San Hill or even a Shu Mai minifig. (Or any other Gossam, Muun etc.). CGI and the need to sell toys have that effect... And to be fair, it started with the prequels already, especially RotS. There were lots of blink-and-you-miss-them vehicles, background vehicles etc. Last week I showed a friend, who likes Star Wars, the Droid Gunship, and she was like: "was that in the movie?". And the Droid Gunship had a lot screentime from my point of view.

What would you like for the next Castle line?
Flieger replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I want the Wolfpack back. So many fond memories... although they were one of the first clearly evil factions, I still liked them. -
There are three very different options: 1) AotC (with or without upgraded helmet mould; I do hope for an updated mould) 2) RotS 3) TCW All of them would be very useful, especially the AotC version to fill the gunship. I like the TCW mould best, though, therefore I hope for a new print on this great mould. I just cannot imagine that lego would waste it on a singular set. Has this ever happened before?
-
The unit has not been identified imo, but the leader was Commander Doom (whose looks are an homage to the Doctor of the same name). He would indeed be a cool minifig. Considering Lego holds the licenses for both Star Wars and Marvel, they could do an homage set: - Commander Doom and Dr. Doom; Commander Thorn and Thor Of course, they won't. Same here, Yoda's Mini-Jedi Interceptor would make a perfect Lego set. Or a Nu Class shuttle...

This wave is real bad, as other have said, it misses good opportunities to bolster the lines of the non-droid seperatists. As much as I like the Neimodian Warrior, I won't buy multiple (big) Vulture Droids. I would gave gone for multiple micros though. I would like to see any other pilot with the helmet mould from the Z-95, but even the TCW introcuded the RotS-pilot dress in the last season. There were featured quite a lot in the later seasons. I have actually expected to see one, but then TCW was cancelled. Indeed, and even better: in AotC, both the blue Senate Guard and the Red Guard (later the Royal Guard) could be seen.
-
I actually hope for an RotJ Y-Wing. We have the required helmet mould now and the Y-Wing set is pretty old (Lego Germany does not sell it any longer in their official shop). Add Mon Mothma and you'd have a set very much alike to the other Rebel fighters.

Thanks for your reply and the interesting information, Macsen!

Oh that hurts! I would have loved a Senate Commando set. Perhaps Lego would have based them on the later TCW Senate Guards. The fact that they appear to have been preliminary figures could point that way. It would have been a slight mislabeling though. Even if it was just the regular Senate Commando, I would have gone for multiples of the set. I just hope Lego does not give up the Senate Guard and finally creates the robed version.
-
I rarely comment, but this one is just amazing. If you allow: Why not give Mithras a Phrygian Cap? The hat from the lawn gnome could work. It is coloured but that is much of a problem since most Roman statues were actually brightly coloured. (Although that might not work with Lego).
-
There has been no Hailfire in TCW, so I hope it is AotC. I never felt the Spider Droid was a worthy opponent for the AT-TE and the Gunship. Anyway, what would be the difference between a TCW and movie version of the Hailfire? I doubt they would have changed it anyway, the legs are just too cool not to include them.
-
Thanks for the review! The price seems high, but then the Droid Tri-Fighter has the same price but a lower piece count (262 vs 279) and fewer minifigs (one, albeit more exclusive, [and two droids] vs three). I wonder why the speeder appears so overpriced, for I feel the same, but the stats say it is not.

You are right, I corrected that one. It is not just the lower gate, it is the main gate which has quite some significance (moreso in the book than in the movie, though). The question is: why do you want the rest of the city? Other than for the sake of completeness I see little use for it. The battle was primarily on the walls and the lower level. While I understand the importance of the Court of the Fountain e.g., it makes for some rather boring playset. The coronation of Aragorn or Denethor's living torch action are not exactly terribly exiting. If one wants Minas Tirith complete or not at all, massive downscaling is in order - as much as to make it look silly even by Lego's sizing standards. But that is a well known problem. When it comes to Rohan, Edoras would be great. And it could be done without new moulds, I think. The Great Hall could have the Royal Guards, but more important Eowyn and Theoden without armour; also Grima to have him again.

I still cannot believe they would end the line without any Gondorian (other than Boromir and BG Aragorn - who looks great btw., and raised my hopes for more Gondorians). I know this is not Star Wars with even obscure characters receiving new moulds, but nonetheless.... I mean they have already created the crown of the Witch King for the Hobbit, which could be easily reused for the RotK Witch-King. In other words, a reprint would be enough to get the top evil commander.. (edit: actually needs new mould, too). Throwing in Eowyn without her helmet, a brick-build fellbeast and you have a fairly good showdown-set. Then a Gondorian soldier with new helmet mould and that is it about new moulds for a new wave. Two new moulds. The rest could be done via reprint (Roman shields for the Gondorians would be enough for me e.g.). That cannot be too much. Of course I would wish for more new moulds, to create Gothmog or more accurately sized shields, but theoretically it could be done. The Witch King's Death - Witch King (new mould for the helmet) - Eowyn with hair-piece - Merry - brick-build fellbeast (- perhaps Theoden) Siege of Minas Tirith - Part of Minas Tirith's wall - Orc catapult or siege tower - 2x Gondorian soldier (new mould for helmet) - 4x Orcs Breaking of the Gate - Minas Tirith's main gate (combines with wall-part from the Siege-set) - Wolf's Head - Gandalf the White - Pippin in Gondor dress - 2x Gondorian soldiers - Denethor - 4x Orcs (- perhaps armoured Trolls) Oliphant Battle - brick-build Oliphant (or partially based on a moulded elephant) - Haradrim driver - Haradrim archer - Rohan horseman edit: I just noted the Witch King's helmet is totally different... doh! So forget about that Have not seen RotK in a long time...

Sounds like the Shadow Guard. Unless Rebels surprises us a lot, this means it is an Legends BP. More specifically: Force Unleashed. Which is strange. Obviously Lego is going for the coolness factor. Considering you saw prelims could these be the TCW camouflaged ARF troopers? Anyway, more camouflaged clones.

Perhaps they'd scale down the helmet a bit, but I think the opened visor is perfect and the figure captures the spirit of the Senate Guard well, athough improvements are possible especially considering Lego's current standards. What I like about the SG is that it represents all that is good about the Republic: it does not serve a man or an office, but the political body representing the peoples of the Republic, and the guards had open helmets with nothing to hide showing the living being in the uniform. And you can see the decline of the Republic in the decline of the Senate Guard. First the guard is reliefed of its duties to protect the chancellor, replaced by the faceless Red Guard - sworn to the Chancellor only - who are the complete opposite of the Senate Guard. Then it is also transformed into an army of faceless goons. I think that the PT is far worse than the OT when it comes to dramaturgy, but the design department was totally up to the challenge and created a worthy SW universe. Sadly there is no reasonable set in which the Senate Guard could appear. What kid would want to buy a Senate set?

Oh I never knew Lego has created a digital model of my number one wish: I hurts so much to see him without getting him... although the helmet could be improved and the spear is inaccurate, but hey: it is a great start.
