"Oh- is it Pretzel? If so, he is coming with us to the Fields. It could be Thalion though....the others (including me) have just returned."
-
"No thanks, Heckz. I wouldn't want to ruin your image of strength and manliness in front of all the ladies!" "OK. Let's do this!"
-
But he wouldn't have done that had I not accused him. And I wouldn't have accused him had he not attacked Thalion...
-
"Right then!" Avalanche places his elbow on the table and takes Johon's hand in his paw. "Three...two...one...go!"
-
If it hadn't been for Thalion scanning him, we never would've suspected Watsap...
-
"Well, OK. How strong are you, though? I wouldn't like to publicly humiliate you by beating you too quickly- I am a yeti, after all..."
-
At least Watsap's there to back you up! "This quest was absolutely terrible! Those stupid heroes didn't fall for my plan! I agree totally!" But is it even Watsap...or is it just Karie acting?
-
Yeah, I think so! BTW, it's pretty funny that while I'm posting a really positive review of 87 into the QM Lounge, Kintobor goes and posts a negative one!

"That's fine with me."

87 A great quest Sandy! I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in it. The sets were fantastic- it was pretty cool to see all the different stalls combined into one large Marketplace. The puzzles were challenging enough- especially Elphaba's puzzle with the gems- and also fun to solve. The NPCs were brilliant, as usual. Watsap was funny to interact with and I never suspected he was the culprit until he reacted rather violently to Thalion's investigation. Warlock was also an unique and well-thought-out character. It was also nice to hear more about the stallholders- Avalanche has made an enemy of Anwyl, I fear! The four animal-people were delightfully odd, especially Ginger- I'm not sure whether his request to be eaten will ever be fulfilled! It didn't go on for too long, and was quite substantial. I only have one minor quibble, and that is the Baltarok issue. If I'd known that the quest wouldn't finish on time, I would never have signed up for it. Still, I know it wasn't your fault and you tried your best. Overall a really wholesome- albeit rather strange- quest! The Other Heroes Monk Pretzel- Avalanche and Pretzel did not get on at all well! Avalanche especially dislikes racists and hypocrites (in his opinion, Pretzel is both!) and so he reacted angrily to certain comments Pretzel made (I don't think he'll ever forgive Pretzel for the comment about blue monkeys and a shave ). However, as the quest progressed, they both seemed to realise that working as a team was absolutely necessary if the quest was to be solved and they put their animosity behind them. At the end of the quest, some of that returned, but Avalanche does like the Monk a lot more than he did at the beginning of the quest. Thalion- Avalanche was impressed during the quest by Thalion's skills at solving the puzzles and 'scanning' the suspects using his Cloak. Thalion also lit the spark that led Avalanche and the others to expose Watsap. Although, due to this quest being more about solving puzzles than heroes getting to know each other, Avalanche didn't really get to know Thalion well. But he counts him as an acquaintance and would enjoy questing with him again. Stigveladi- Similar to Thalion- Avalanche didn't really get to know her all that well. Nevertheless, he found her a valuable asset to solving the final puzzle and contributing to the case against Watsap. Like Thalion, he would enjoy questing with her again. Sorrow- Avalanche supported Sorrow against Pretzel's racist comments at the beginning of the quest, arguing that undead are people too and not just mindless zombies. However, he was rather uneasy around Sorrow for the most part of the quest- Avalanche has never met an undead before and although he initially wasn't that sure, meeting Sorrow has improved Avalanche's view on the undead. Heckz- Avalanche was pleased to see a familiar face when he embarked upon the quest. Having met Heckz before boosted Avalanche's confidence and made him feel less shy or embarrassed at being a newbie. The two heroes' scrap around the middle of the quest was funny to write and read- Heckz really needs to learn some tact and modesty! Nevertheless, Avalanche enjoyed questing with Heckz (I'm getting a bit repetitive now, aren't I ) Avalanche- Yes, I'm reviewing myself too. I felt that 87, while at first seeming rather strange and not really having an impact on Avalanche, turned out to be just as important as 83 in his character development. Avalanche was the first to voice his growing suspicions about Watsap, and this led the other heroes to voice theirs as well. Leading the exposion of Watsap gave Avalanche more self-confidence and made him realise that even a newbie can be key to a quest's success. He was also extremely worried that Watsap would be, in fact, innocent and that the quest would fail because of him. If he had been wrong about the kobold, he would have blamed himself and I would be writing a very different review. Avalanche ended this quest on a positive note and is soon to embark upon the Fields of Glory, marking another milestone in his Heroica career. Just one question, Sandy- did the six suspects have anything to do with the crime- did they steal the objects and give them to Watsap? Was Sir Loin mistaken or telling the truth? I'm still puzzled... Thanks for a brilliant quest!

Avalanche throws open the doors of the hall, extremely pleased with having completed his second quest. He enters and soon spots Romulus and Johon beside the questboard, "Oh, you waited! Thanks." Avalanche signs up for the Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory.

Heroica RPG - Quest#87: The Marketplace Mystery

Avalanche glares at Watsap, "Good riddance, slimeface." He turns to Thalion, "I'd love to help, but I really must get back to the Hall- I have an appointment to keep. Goodbye and thanks- I enjoyed questing with you. The same goes for the rest of you." He smiles at all his fellow heroes (even Pretzel), and then turns on his heel and heads out of the Marketplace. OOC: Thanks for an awesome quest, Sandy!- 327 replies

Avalanche nods in agreement, "I suggested that a while back, when we first found out that the hat had been stolen." He then hears Pretzel's suggestion, "That's a great idea! Lieutenant, may we check the dustbins?"- 327 replies

Heroica RPG - Quest#87: The Marketplace Mystery
Dragonfire replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Alright. Watsap attempted to frame Detective Warlock for the thefts by suggesting that the cherries we found in all the crime scenes belonged to him. I reasoned that there was no way a criminal would hire us to solve his own crime. Therefore I moved my suspicions to Watsap, who point-blank refused to explain his peculiar actions (he attacked one of us when we tried to investigate him as well as the suspects, and he was overly defensive regarding his alibi). Watsap then tried to persuade us to arrest Warlock, but he could not give us any possible motive for Warlock to have committed the crime. Watsap himself, on the other hand, has a clear motive: he told us that he wasn't satisfied with his job and that his superiors made him do 'the dirty work'. He almost certainly wants the job of detective and was not very pleased when an incompetent newbie filled the slot. He probably had some help committing the crime, then he persuaded Warlock to hire us, meanwhile getting his cohorts to plant fake evidence against Warlock, so that when we investigated, Warlock would come under suspicion and be arrested. Watsap would get his job as a reward for his services to the Town Watch. We initially suspected some other strange-looking characters, but it has really come down to Warlock or Watsap here, and I personally do not think Warlock could have or would have committed the crime."- 327 replies

Thanks I've been wanting to go to the Fields for a while, being relatively new around here.

@TheBoyWonder: Avalanche would also be interested in a trip to the Fields once 87 has finished- which it will do in one or two days. Can you wait?

"Um, Pretzel, if the butcher is to be believed, six shadowy individuals committed the crime. It is very likely they were in Watsap's pay though- but the money he would have gained by selling the items is far more than the money he gave up."- 327 replies

Avalanche glares at the kobold, "That does it. He's not even willing to explain himself. Stigveladi, I think we should wait for the other heroes to add their input before condemning Watsap. There is a chance that we could be mistaken."- 327 replies

"Watsap, you're a treacherous double-crosser. You've suddenly turned against your partner because we caught on to your master-plan. You want his job, don't you? You want him discredited. You know he carries cherries around; I bet none of the so-called 'suspects' have even seen him before!" Avalanche turns to the other suspects (Auntie Bunnina, the werehen, the werebee, Ginger, Phoebe and Nestor), "Isn't that right? Have any of you ever seen or met this man?" He gestures to Warlock. "It's alright. Your helper is trying to take advantage of your absent-mindedness and turn us against you. We'll deal with him." He returns to Watsap, "How dare you call Stigveladi a midget, you hypocrite! Look at yourself! You're half her height. And you can talk about implication, you who engineered this entire case to remove Warlock from his job. The evidence does point at him- but it was evidence that you planted and made up. And yes, I would indeed like you to ''fess it up'. You have a lot of explaining to do." It takes a few minutes for the frustrated yeti to calm down a bit, "Look, Watsap. If you are innocent, then come clean. Spill the beans- tell us everything. Don't leave any loose ends untied, and don't just say that you have no explaining to do. We're all wating." Should I have been so quick to accuse the kobold? Are we all being deceived by someone else- Warlock, or the bunny woman? Is this whole thing a 'red herring'? I'm not sure who is the true culprit, but whoever it is, I'll have a lot of apologies to make once this quest is over.- 327 replies

Sorry . I had no idea that LDD was free and available. Thanks for telling me . I take back what I said about it being unfair. If only I'd known earlier! Sorry. I appreciate the effort you've put into SoNE and should not have questioned the episode. I understand now. Same reply that I gave to Lobot. I didn't know about LDD really and now I do. And I realise now I do have quite a few of the required pieces- I was just being lazy and assumed I didn't have them .
