Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion
djmangunz replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in Culture & Multimedia
That's all I really want, to have a few episodes dedicated or at least featuring heavily some new Commando squad. I certainly don't expect them to be recurring characters in the show. Just want them to have their five minutes of fame and then fade off in to the obscurity of the EU. That's all, not too elaborate. I'm just a simple man, trying to make his way in the universe.... -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion

Perhaps you gents misunderstood me. I have no problem with them not including Delta squad in the show. That is completely fine. What I am disappointed in is the fact that they are not taking any opportunity to focus on Commandos at all. I would love to see a new squad built from the ground up and watch them develop as characters. I also agree that there are a lot of special forces in the Clone Wars but none of them have seemed very "special." Even the ARC troopers, instead of being shown as highly trained black ops members seem more like regular cannon fodder with cooler uniforms. Hence my interest in the inclusion of any commandos at all. -

The idea was that they were going to develop a new Commando squad and feature them rather than take away from Delta and their history. It sounds like we might get a glimpse of a lone commando but no squad and no major story time. Please tell me you are not serious about messing up the continuity of Star Wars. George could care less about that. Have you seen what they are doing to the movies on the blu-rays? -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion

I was reading an article on IGN about this season and came across this depressing bit of news: IGN: Speaking of Kamino, I've got to ask… The Republic Commandos made their cameo on that planet, but might there be more with them? Filoni: I'll be very honest about that, because I don't like fans to build up to something that's not going to happen. They're not a major arc. They really haven't shown up again. I wouldn't look for them. And a lot of that just comes with them not really being one of the movie things. They're a much more EU-centered item. And I was able to get them in to that episode in a cameo role and I think there was a great reaction from it. Everyone loved it. If we did it, we definitely wouldn't deal with that particular squad, because there's been so much written about them. I think one of the other things is we have such a great development of Rex that we really want to keep telling Rex's story and things centered around Rex. But it's on the radar. It's just that there are so many characters fighting for space. I can think of an instance in the future where one might show up, but not a Commando that anyone knows. And that would be more the route we'd go, is create some other guys, some new guys than the Delta Squad that we saw in the Nightsisters episode. But I wanted to get that cameo in there for LucasArts, for the guys that made the game, because they did such great work and there were so many fans of them. So why not? This goes against what Filoni had said in another interview before where he touts the fact that the commandos would be included in this season and implied that they would have a much bigger role this year. And what the heck is he saying about not including them because they aren't in the movies and are more an EU thing? Come on, I mean half the crap they put in the shows come from the EU. The Nightsisters got three freaking episodes and there is not much that is more EU than those guys. Color me disappointed. More Mortis and less commandos=fail -
Shhhhh, he just might. http://www.movieweb.com/news/black-widow-and-hawkeye-to-get-spin-offs

I understand that the Avengers are a team, but at the SDCC, the cast was discussing how they will each fight this villain individually before coming together as a team to combat him. Hence why I think that the Captain America, Iron Man, and (the supposed) Helicarrier set will include said unmentioned character. The Thor vs. Hulk set will obviously feature the two characters mashing it out, similar to how it was portrayed in the Avengers #1 way back in September of 63. Oh, and the Wolverine sequel has yet to have a start date for filming or a director attached to it, so my guess is that the X-Men set will feature the comic version of the clawed man.
-
When I made my fearless predictions about the Marvel sets, I based my guesses on the mini-figures that we know we are going to get per the released Lego reports. While I would love a Red Skull, I don't believe that we will see him in this wave. All the information I have heard indicates that the Marvel sets, with the exception of the X-Men one, will be based on the Avengers movie. It sounds like the Avengers will all face the same villain( unnamed by me due to a potential spoiler) at different times. So my guess is that we will get this villain in several of the sets including, at my best guess, the Captain America set. But who knows? I have been wrong before. Just ask my wife.
-
I also really enjoyed Captain America, especially Howard Starks role in it. I am somewhat biased but I have to say that Avengers is number one on my must see list next year. Yes, yes you did. That sound you hear is a thousand fan boys screaming like little girls.

I mentioned this in the Avengers Movie thread that we have in the Culture theme, that the Disney D23 (The Disney version of the SDCC) is this upcoming weekend. Seeing that the first time we saw images of the upcoming Super Hero figures was at the SDCC there is a good chance that we might see some more polished versions of the toys at the D23. Disney now owns Marvel, so I would assume that there wouldn't be any DC related figures there. But from what I understand they are really trying to make a splash this year with the Avengers so cross your fingers that we get some pics!

Disney is having their D23 Expo this weekend, which is like the Mickey Mouse version of the SDCC. Anyway, since Marvel had one of the sets of the Helicarier at the aforementioned CC, who knows what they might have in store, especially since they decided not to send any of their cast to the CC in lieu of creating more hype for the D23. I for one would love to see more detailed images of the final version of the Helicarrier, QuinJet, Iron Man's suit. Who knows? Maybe we will get some more pictures of some certain Super Hero themed Lego sets? Here's hoping Blurb about the Avengers pannel at the D23 The Avengers”: On the screen, this May 2012 film will team Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and the Hulk (now Mark Ruffalo and looking different) and off the screen it represents the first Marvel Studios release to fully fly under the Disney banner. Feige and his team made Comic-Con history in 2010 when they marched the whole cast (which also includes Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner) out on stage and the thunderclap moment was so big that they opted to skip Hall H altogether this year. Feige and director Joss Whedon won’t say what they have in mind for this weekend’s Anaheim adventure.

All About Bricks does a nice job of explaining what the majority of the DC sets will include. However, most of the details for the Marvel sets are unknown. Here I am going to take a few sentences to speculate( read; guess) what some of them might include. 6865 Captain America, depending on if they base this set off the movie vs. the comics it could include the original Quin jet or the Captain's motorcycle. 6866 X-Men: I would say the Blackbird is a good bet here. 6867 Iron Man: This one I don't have a clue since Iron Man doesn't tool around in many cool vehicles besides his suit. Perhaps they will include an unknown baddie with an iconic vehicle to go along with it. The Avengers mansion seems too pedestrian for a set here. 6868 Hulk and Thor: I really think that this will be from the upcoming Avengers movie and it will include the updated Quin jet. Why another Quin jet you scream? Well, besides the fact that it would be completely different version than the one used by the Cap. in WW II, it is one of the few well known vehicles in the Avengers saga. 6869 Avengers: This one has to be the Helicarrier. If it's not then, well I will might cry like a small girl. So there you have it, my uneducated guesses at what the future Marvel sets might include. Feel free to clap me on the back for being a genius or call me a flippin idiot.

The Hulkbuster suit would be sweet, and we haven't seen a final image of Tony's armor for the movie so who knows? The reason that I think they don't include Agent Coulson in Captain America is for the reason you suggested, the filmmakers didn't want to portray him as quite that old.

So, thoughts on the price range for the Geonosian Cannon? My best guess would be something $25-$50 range. Maybe someone has a better idea than me. And for the battle pack, I thought we would be getting an ARF trooper as well as an ARC, not that I am complaining mind you. I am excited for at least two of the sets. -
I think that it is the goggles that turn me off. The look like a pair of Oakley snow goggles with flashlights attached to them. That, and the uninspired leather bodysuit. But who knows, Nolan is a brilliant director and this time next year I could be wondering what I was whining about at the time. Oh, and the Catwoman movie was brilliant piece of cinema. Surprised that you didn't think so.

Those cinema employees are a bunch of lairs. (Just kidding, I have the utmost respect for those titans of the movie theaters)This was by far the biggest teaser that we have gotten in any of the movies, probably because it will be the last Marvel movie tied into the Avengers before the actual movie hits screens next year. I think that is one of the most appealing parts of this franchise, the fact that they have taken such care to connect the worlds and movies of each character, bringing them all together in one giant combination of awesomeness!

The first official images of Selina Kyle have been released for next years The Dark Knight Rises. If this is the version of Catwoman we are going to see in mini figure form for the Lego movie sets, then color me unimpressed. http://collider.com/dark-knight-rises-movie-image-catwoman-anne-hathaway/107682/

If you saw Captain America and were patient enough to wait a few minutes, you got to see a teaser trailer for the Avengers movie. Marvel released it online last week. The downside is that they included the last minute of the Captain movie. So if you haven't seen the movie, proceed with caution. But it does give some fleeting glances at the new uniforms and Hawkeye, not to mention the bridge of the Helicarrier which is really really sweet. video: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/29/the-avengers-trailer-teaser_n_912923.html

def, good reading suggestions. I know that they vary off the true path of the Avengers, but I like the Ultimate Avenger series myself. Anyway, Edgar Wright just gave an update about the status of an Ant Man movie and talked about how it would be done. Here is a blurb: It would include two different Ant-Men: Henry Pym and Scott Lang. In the Marvel Comics source material, both characters make use of a special formula and suit that allows them to shrink, as well as a high-tech helmet that facilitates communication with ants and other insects. "Ant-Man" is said to feature flashbacks of the original hero, Pym, as well as scenes of his successor, Lang, in the present day. Article: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1667877/ant-man-movie-edgar-wright.jhtml I have long heard that Nathan Fillion was up for the role, but who knows? I would imagine the "Captain" would do a good job. 5150, I think that you would find a greater following among hardcore fanboy sites for this movie rather than the mainstream. But I would say that it has a lot of people excited for it. Maybe not Potter or Star Wars big but pretty intense. ( And Battleship? I think I just vomited on Michael Bay's shoes)

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

Interesting. I wonder what the one Clone War set will be if it does include Commander Gree like Mirandir suggested. -
Honestly, I think that the $50 value has to be a misprint. The video game retails for $50 itself depending on which console you purchase it for. I am thinking it is closer to $150, with $50 to the game, $20 to the t-shirt, and $80 for the Batcave. I was thinking, that it would be nice to have different variants of the same characters showing the progression in their costumes over the years. For example; a MK I and MK II version of the Iron Man suit, kind of what they did with the Batman costume in the last Lego series. And after looking over the concept art for the Avengers movie I can't wait to see what they do with the Lego version of the Helicarrier and the Quin jet.
-
Eh, I didn't put the spoiler tags in the intro because most people are casual fans and have no idea who half these characters are. But you are correct in the fact that they will be making more, they currently are planning on an Avengers trilogy.
-
Yep, that's who I am talking about! Just don't want to ruin it for anyone who doesn't want to know yet. Actually, Marvel has plans to make an Ant Man movie and it sounds like he will be in Avengers 2, so who knows? Maybe we will see the Black Panther in future movies. I mean, they want to make a Doctor Strange movie so the sky is the limit!

I have to say that I am a bit surprised that no one else has started this thread, especially since we found out about the new Super Heroes line at SDCC. But as a lifelong fan of Marvel comics (except for Spider-Man, never got into Spidey)I am stoked out of my mind for this movie. And after the success of both Iron Man movies, plus Thor and Captain America, it seems that we are primed for a great superhero movie team-up the likes of which we have never seen. For those who don't know, the Avengers will include Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Nick Fury, Hawkeye, The Hulk, and the Black Widow, along with a villain who will remain nameless here. The downside is that it will not include two of the founding members; Ant Man and the Wasp. This years SDCC gave us a goldmine of information about the movie set to come out next May. Here are some images of the concept art for the major characters, the Helicarrier, and Quin jet. http://collider.com/the-avengers-concept-art/104859/ And here is a blurb about the movie for those who need catching up: Robert Downey, Jr. (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2″) returns as the iconic Tony Stark/Iron Man along with Chris Hemsworth (“Thor”) as Thor, Chris Evans (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) as Captain America, Jeremy Renner (“Thor,” “The Hurt Locker”) as Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo (“The Kids Are Alright”) as Hulk, Scarlett Johansson (“Iron Man 2″) as Black Widow, Clark Gregg (“Iron Man,” “Thor”) as Agent Phil Coulson, and Samuel L. Jackson (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2″) as Nick Fury. Set for release in the US on May 4, 2012, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the first feature to be fully owned, marketed and distributed by Disney, which acquired Marvel in 2009. Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the super hero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1963, “Marvel’s The Avengers” brings together the mightiest super hero characters as they all assemble together on screen for the first time. The star studded cast of super heroes will be joined by Cobie Smulders (“How I Met Your Mother) as Agent Maria Hill of S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as Tom Hiddleston (“Wallander”) and Stellan Skarsgård (“Angels & Demons,” “Mamma Mia!”) who will both reprise their respective roles as Loki and Professor Erik Selvig from the upcoming Marvel Studios’ feature “Thor.” So what do you folks think? Are you as excited for this movie as I am?
