So based on what we know about Bag End's price point and the cost of the LOTR line here is my speculation on the prices for each set: Mystery of the ring $13 Mirkwood Spiders $30 Exclusive(Target?) $40 An Unexpected Gathering $60 Warg Attack $80 Gobblin King $120 Any thoughts?
-
I took a gander myself and it seems that these are the exact listings that we saw from the German toy website. Brickset is one of the most reliable websites out there as far as Lego news is concerned. The only thing that makes me skeptical is that they list the Unexpected Gathering as "Bag End". Of course, that could just be a generalized name. Looks like these are the sets that we will be getting. Kind of bummed. Hopefully the exclusive set will consist of Barrels out of Bond. (Crosses fingers for a really big and expensive exclusive but not from TRU)Come to think of it, I would imagine that the exclusive will come from Target again like the Orc Forge did this summer.

Not gonna lie, I was not enthused about a Bag End set at all. But after seeing in in the flesh( brick) my mind is completely changed. From the map to the round door, the detail is fantastic. The only complaint that I have is the dwarfs don't really have those unique weapons they all carry in the movie, with the exception of Dwalin's war hammer. Oh, and Bombur's sausage of course. Anyone who fights goblins with processed pork products has my utmost respect.

Man, here is hoping that these are just rumors and not the actual sets. Because, besides the Warg Attack and the already known Bag End set, the rest of these sound just meh. And for a line with this much hype, meh just won't cut it. For Lego to miss the chance to make sets on Barrels out of Bond, the trolls, and the White Council just seems like a mistake. We need elves, wizards (besides Gandalf) and more trolls Lego! Don't disappoint your fans!

All excellent points and I agree completely. And brother, that is official not fan made. Bask in it's awesomeness! Here is a link to the article: http://collider.com/the-hobbit-poster-banner/178415/

One of the fears I had about the upcoming Hobbit sets was if Lego would run the risk of repeating themselves. Tolken has several recurring themes in both the Hobbit and the LOTR books, such as trolls, caves featuring goblins and giant spiders. In the LOTR sets from this summer, we already had excellent versions of all those themes ie. the Mines of Moria and Shelob attacks. And we all know the Hobbit films will tackle similar territory, like the spiders in Mirkwood. However, seeing how creative Lego has been just with these few minifigures and the detail and creativity they have put into them alleviates many of those fears.Anyone else have any thoughts or concerns about getting "repeats" with the Hobbit sets? Anyway, here is a little something to help you fantasize about future Hobbit sets. The latest poster from New Line depicting many of the major events in the first movie. Beorn in megafigure size anyone? http://collider.com/wp-content/uploads/the-hobbit-banner-poster.jpg

After looking at the high rez pictures it appears that Dwalin has blue tats on both sides of his face! That, my friends, is epic. Massively epic. Apparently in the movie Bifur will have a hunk of orc ax still stuck in his head. I can't wait to see what Lego will do with that. This is going to be a very good Christmas in the mangunz household this year!

I am very sorry, I know that one of our members reported the information which was posted on Lego's Facebook page and it is somewhere in the LOTR topic hidden in the hundreds of pages. But as for having a link to that specific page where it is posted, I am sadly lacking. You bring up an excellent point which didn't take into consideration; the fact that it is unlikely that Lego would put all the wizards in one set. But one can wish! As far as the hats, I saw a very blurred image of Radagast the Brown preliminary art from the movie and he appeared to have a very strangely shaped hat. Nothing like Gandalf's pointy one, which we now all identify with now as the traditional wizard's hat. Who knows how Lego would do it. However, it WAS preliminary images I was looking at, and as we all know that can obviously change.

After pouring over the Simlarion last night, I came across the part where the White Council invades Dol Guldur to drive out the Necromancer. Knowing how Peter Jackson expanded on some of Tolken's writings for the LOTR movies and how he has expressed his plans to do the same with the Hobbit movies, I would guess that we could see an expanded version of the assault on the fortress in Mirkwood in the first Hobbit film. That being said, and connecting this theory with the picture we have of Elrond in minifigure form plus the tweet from Lego stating that they would include female figures in this upcoming line leads me to speculate that we could get some sort of set called; The battle of Dol Guldur (or something like that) including a tower and a few members of the White Council. Perhaps Saruman the White, Gandalf the Grey and Radagast the Brown, Lady Galadriel of Lothlórien, and Master Elrond of Rivendell. And the Necromancer. And this could be the flagship set of the Hobbit line at about $80. Six minifigures for $80 isn't unreasonable by Lego's standards. Who knows? Anyway that is my theory piecing together the few clues that we have about the Hobbit sets. And stretching my imagination with some of the other tidbits we have gathered.

According to Wal Mart's website the Spiderman set is exclusive to Wally World. Perhaps others may have known this, but I was ignorant of this fact until now. If this is true it is a bit disappointing as I was hoping to use some Target coupons to bring the price down a bit. Not that $30 is a bad amount, but it's always nice to get Lego at a discounted price. Edit: Bah beaten by LightningTiger with keystrokes of....um... lighting!

Agreed! Although I am a bit greedier than you are since I want nothing less than the whole line reveal at the SDCC. However, it may be wishful thinking on my part and in all honesty, we will probably be lucky if Lego shows off a few minifigures over the weekend. Bilbo and Mr. Oakenshield perhaps? Regardless, we should see some sort of set list leak out around August for the Hobbit line. (crossing fingers)

Each time I check back I hope that the page number count has jumped significantly which normally indicates some news or new pictures have been found. There is a good chance many of our questions about the Hobbit sets could be answered on July 11th when the San Diego Comic Convention begins. I would imagine that they will create Narsil for The Return of the King sets eventually. I mean, they made Sting, Uruk-hai swords, and elven bows and Narsil plays a bigger role in the books and movies than any of those weapons do.

I have a hard time believing that Lego is going to produce any sets based on the Last Alliance, as much as I would love (LOVE) them to. I would imagine that they will focus their ideas on the events which happen in the LOTR and the Hobbit respectively. That being said, I could totally see Elrond dusting off his armor and joining the battle of the five armies in the second Hobbit film. Heck, who knows what Peter Jackson will toss in his version of the Hobbit. Maybe there is some skirmish that he is going to add in the first movie that we don't know about yet which involves Elrond throwing down. All I know is that minifigure of Elrond in his armor NEEDS to be made! And that elven spear is delicious. Things like this is the whole reason that I am so excited about this line and why I have forsaken my favored Star Wars sets in order to save more money for LOTR ones. This gives me high hopes for the Hobbit line. Here's hoping that we hear something at the SDCC! Anyone else find themselves checking this thread constantly in hopes of news of the Hobbit sets?

I am watching Peter Jackson's video blogs on the Hobbit production right now(fascinating watches, by the way) and in the first video, he goes into great detail about how the first movie will feature Rivendell heavily. He even goes on to say that we will see parts of Rivendell which we didn't see in the LOTR movies. That being said, I would imagine that one of the Lego sets for the Hobbit movie this December will be Rivendell. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Rivendell ends up being the flagship set of this first Hobbit wave, in the form of a $130 set in the vein of a Helm's Deep.

No problem! Just looking out for my fellow fanatics! I hope it works as well! My order still says "preparing to ship" so hopefully that is a good sign. I have never ordered Lego from B&N before, here is hoping that the first time is a positive experience. That is a good question. You could always take your phone in with you and show the sale price to the salesperson. However, I am afraid that the codes for the extra percentage off only work on-line. No problem. That is the downside of having a Lego addiction, it is rather expensive But if you do find a spare $100 around the house you have to spring for Helm's Deep. It really is a thing of beauty! And just a reminder that if you guys come across sales to let us know! Speaking of which, Amazon has Weathertop for $45 right now, not as good as B&N with coupon, but if you prefer Amazon then there you go! Folks, Barnes & Noble is running a great deal on three of the LOTR sets right now. I scored Weathertop for $41 shipped including taxes. I found the deal on a great Lego website called Toys N Bricks (not to take anything away from our beloved Eurobricks) which does an excellent job of highlighting Lego deals. Here is their breakdown of the sales. Basically, Barnes & Nobles (a US retailer that ships worldwide at very reasonable rates) has 10% off three of the Lord of the Rings sets. Weathertop is the best deal at the moment as that set has been reduced by $10 to begin with already. While the prices are nice with the small discount, it gets even better once you add coupon codes in. The only con is that you will need to place separate orders if ordering multiple sets as the codes only work on 1 item. Below are 8 coupon codes by forum members. 15% off Non-Member Codes: T4T8J4A, X4P8A3B, T4T8J4A, D7L8F8R (VISA) 20% off Member Codes L4L8R9C, B7D9E9W, V9N8W8R, H4V4K8D Here’s the math and the price breakdown for members and non-members just so you can get an idea of how good of a deal your getting. Membership can be signed up for $25 a year. All prices are in USD. Non-Member Prices After Coupon Applied 36.3% off – Attack on Weathertop $38.21 (reg.$59.99) 23.6% off – Battle of Helm’s Deep $99.41 (reg.$129.99) 23.56% off – Mines of Moria $61.16 (reg.$79.99) Member Price After Coupon Applied 40% off – Attack on Weathertop $35.96 (reg.$59.99) 28% off – Battle of Helm’s Deep $93.56 (reg.$129.99) 28.05% off – Mines of Moria $57.56 (reg.$79.99) BN Shipping Charges United States (Non-Members): FREE Shipping on orders above $25 United States (Members): Free Express Shipping with no minimum Canada: First Item $6.48, Additional Items $2.49 each International: First Item $12.98, Additional Items $5.49 each They also have great stuff that are discounted already like Superheroes The Batcave for $62.95 (reg.$69.99) and Batwing over Gotham City for $26.95 (reg.$34.99). More can be found on their LEGO Bestsellers List. Now do the math for yourself after applying the extra 15-20% off coupons! Hit em up quick folks! Deals this good can't last. And of course all credit goes to Toys N Bricks! http://toysnbricks.com/ P.S. It would be great if folks could give us the heads-up on any LOTR sales they find here in this thread! I know we have a sales thread, but sometimes it is lacking a bit.

I think all of these sets will be part of the Hobbit wave this December. I also think that Barrels out of Bond will be where we get Tauriel, the Mirkwood warrior elf. On top of these sets I believe that we will get a Rivendell set in the Helm's Deep size and cost. I think that we will have a good chance to get Galadriel and Saruman as part of the White Council. We could also see Elladan, Elrohir, Elrond's twin sons in that set as well. This is almost exactly how I think Lego will approach the problem of creating a Minas Tirith set which is substantial enough in size to please the fans without being too expensive. That being said, I think the The Battle of Pelennor Fields will be more like the size and cost of the Mines of Moria set. Which means the set will consist of a portion of the wall with the great gates of Minas Tirith and one Mumkil. And the set of Minas Tirith set itself will be more in the $120 range and will have one exterior wall and the tower. I expect to see Minas Tirith in the next summer wave as the flagship set.

I just recieved Gandalf Arrives, Uruk-hai Army, Mines of Moria, and Helms Deep in the mail today from Target. I can't believe how detailed and extensive Helms Deep is. And the Haldir minifigure is His armor printing is fantastic! Lego really hit it out of the park with these sets. I might just have to break down and get Weathertop as well.

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
djmangunz replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Seriously? Just when I think it is safe to take a break from Star Wars and spend all my money on Lord of the Rings, GRogall comes along with his freaking high-res pictures and makes me reconsider. In for both of the Knights of the Old Republic sets. Curse you GRgoall! Who am I kidding, in for Jabba's palace and the desert skiff as well. Crap! -
I was tooling around online for a few minutes about six this morning (thanks to a five am workout) and decided to give those cursed Target links to the LOTR sets, which have been dead for a week or so, another whirl. Much to my surprise they finally were live again! So I quickly ordered Helm's Deep, Mines of Moria, Uruk-Hai attack, and Gandalf arrives before they disappeared again. My confirmation e-mails said that they were slated to arrive at the end of the month. Great. However, later this afternoon I received a slew of additional e-mails which stated that the shipping date had been moved up and I should receive them by the 16th of this month at the latest. Happy day! And no bloody TRU mark up!

Kevin Feige Talks THOR 2, CAPTAIN AMERICA 2, IRON MAN 3, the AVENGERS Sequel, 2014 and 2015 Releases, Another HULK Sequel, and a Lot More! Interesting article on Collider. My local Wal Mart manager (what up, Ed!) was kind enough to dig around in the boxes that just came off the truck and found the Quinjet set for me. He said that they only received three of that set and that most of the area Wal Marts had about the same number in stock. So you might want to keep your eyes out for it, they will go fast! I know there is a review up for the Quinjet but I want to add a few comments. The box art is fantastic and they really went all out making it feel as if it is based on a comic, especially on the back of the box where they show the functions. The instructions and stickers were backed by cardboard, which is great after years of getting smashed stickers in various sets (republic gunship, Hogwarts castle, and so on). And they put several of the minifigures in different bags. This not only makes it harder for people to steal them out of the sets on the shelf, but it also is something to look forward to as you progress in the build. I can't wait to finish it tonight! A Marvel movie marathon, a bag of Starburst jellybeans, and a new Lego set. What could be a better evening that that? (disclaimer: my wife begs to differ)

Excellent, thanks for the information. Anyone have an exact date for the release however?
-
I'm sure this has been mentioned several times before but I can't seem to find it. Do we have a supposed release date for these sets in the US?

Review: 6868 Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout
djmangunz replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks for the information. That makes me feel slightly more justified about not per-ordering the sets from Wally World since the boxes are almost as important to me as the sets themselves (almost). Now I just have to spend my weekend searching the whole of Ohio for these sets.
