Thanks for the link brother. Your assumption that they would apply to the Lego sets as well, seems accurate.

What Do YOU Hope for in the Upcoming Hobbit Sets?
djmangunz replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Those sound about as accurate as you can get Deathleech. I am assuming that it is a given we will get all 13. However with the rumors of the Barrel Escape and Spiders in Mirkwood sets not being released after all, perhaps it's not a given after all. (Dang, it took me 5 years to achieve 300 posts? It amazes me that people can rack up 1000 plus posts in a matter of a few months.I just don't have that sort of time on my hands, what with a family and career and life and all...) -
Interesting information. Would you happen to have the link to the article deskp? If this applies to the Lego sets it's not surprising but very disappointing. The Barrels out of Bond was the set I was looking forward to the most just based on the chance we would get Thranduil and Tauriel. Sigh. But on the upside it frees up more funds for the upcoming Super Heros line. Arkham Asylum (cue Homer Simpson drooling sound effects)

I am a little surprised to see that no one who has looked at the retailer catalog has reported seeing the TMNT sets. This leads me to be less optimistic that this line will become a reality. Not enough to call BS just yet, but my hopes are fading....

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
djmangunz replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Whaaaat? Never saw this one coming but that doesn't isn't a welcome surprise. Maybe Avenger's Mansion really has a chance in the future. I normally roll my eyes at the people who make the generic comments about their wallet hurting due to Lego, but 2014 seems to be a particularly expensive year potentially. I mean, with the rumored TMNT line, Super Hero's, The Hobbit, a Star Wars set here and there, and Galaxy Protectors or whatever the hell the new space line is called, I have some major budgeting to do. -
Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
djmangunz replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I am assuming that these are summer sets based on the movie release dates, which makes me wonder how this list is out so early. -
As a big fan of Lego's licensed line, it gives me great delight to hear of my third favorite childhood toy (after Lego and G.I. Joe) being made into Lego form at last. I remember fondly recreating the Turtle's sewer lair out of Lego, and "customizing" my own hero's on the half-shell out of City minifigures and spaceship helmets. So, since it sounds like the TMNT line is more than likely a done deal I will happily begin the speculating. Mini-figures: We know that we will get all four turtles, obviously. Not to mention, Splinter, April, Shredder, Krang, and Foot Soldiers. If the rumors are to be believed we will also get Bebop and Rocksteady. I guess the only question is, will the Nickelodeon version bring in all the extra mutant characters which made the original show so fun? Panda Kahn anyone? Sets: Well, we have to have the sewer lair, and my guess is that will be the flagship set of the line. There is already a toy out which is the new version of the Turtle's van called the "Shellraiser" so you know that will be a set as well. I remember reading on another forum something about Bebop's Revenge (or maybe it was Rocksteady, can't remember) but that has to be some large villain based set. The Technodome perhaps? Anyway, it sounds like there will be six sets all together, so maybe a motorcycle thrown in there as well as a battlepack or two? Anyway those are just my guesses but I feel pretty confident that most of them will be rather accurate. Any other ideas out there?

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
djmangunz replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I have seen some great guesses on prices and here are my takes on the sets: Mr. Freeze set $12 Nick Fury/Spiderman $20 Penguin/Robin submarine $35 The Bat/Tumbler $50 Arkham Asylum(Toys R Us exclusive) $60 Daily Bugle $70 Just to be clear, all this is entirely speculation on my part. I don't want to see this price list quoted on Brick Heros as a source. (By the way, can anyone tell me what version of Robin this is supposed to be? He looks a bit like Damian Wayne from Grant Morrison's Batman and Robin series) -
gasp...sputter.... Exclusive Elrond...must...have... I don't even have a current game system. I wonder if there is any way I could bribe someone at Gamestop to sell me a figure or two? Hate to wait for it to go on ebay and have to drop a small fortune on it. Anyone want a discounted special edition of the LOTR video game?

Rumors are flying around that the new ending to the first Hobbit movie will be the rescue by the eagles. If that is true, then the film won't touch upon the trek to Mirkwood. That being said two of the rumored Lego sets, escape from the spiders(or whatever they are calling it), and Barrels out of Bond can't be released. What could they replace those two sets with?

http://theweek.com/article/index/231307/the-hobbit-becomes-a-trilogy-a-blatant-sellout You may not be using the term, but a few people are tossing it around. I have heard both arguments from folks who don't like the idea of a third film; either that Peter Jackson is doing it for the money (ie. selling out), or fans like you who feel this compromises the artistic integrity of the project. While there may be some valid points to both arguments; everything is about money and sure Jackson is taking some artistic liberties with the film, but I am telling you I just don't care. The only thing that matters to me is that we are getting one more Hobbit film, and that is just freaking awesome.
-
I never said you did. My, my, aren't we egocentric. I am sure you are a lovely fellow, but I couldn't care less what your reasons are for disliking the idea of a third Hobbit movie. Anyways, more movies equals more chances for Lego sets based on Tolkien's world. And in my mind, that is a great thing.
-
What this little debate boils down to is this: that there are those who think Peter Jackson is selling out by making three movies, and then there are those of us who are big Peter Jackson and Tolkien fans who are just thrilled that we will get another movie full of elves, wizards, and man-eating dragons to enjoy. As for me, I would rather spend my time looking forward to 33% more Hobbity goodness than argue with the naysayers.

The rumor is that The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey's end point, and some of the scenes they were going to include, have changed. That being said, I wonder if any of the upcoming Lego sets from the Hobbit line will need to be changed (cough, Barrels out of Bond, cough) The question is, how hard it is to design and produce a new Lego set, to replace one which had been planned for release,in time for December 1st?
-
amen, brother.

From PJ's announcement: We know how much of the story of Bilbo Baggins, the Wizard Gandalf, the Dwarves of Erebor, the rise of the Necromancer, and the Battle of Dol Guldur will remain untold if we do not take this chance. Boys and girls, the words "Battle of Dol Guldur" equals Lego magic. That is the type of set we were all hoping for from the Hobbit line. Just imagine Galadriel and Elrond (if they change it a bit from the appendices) leading elven warriors into battle against the fortress of Dol Guldur. (cue Homer Simpson drooling sound.) That, my friends, is a set.
-
I completely disagree with you, seeing as Peter Jackson is sitting on the rights to, not only the Hobbit, but 150 additional pages of notes about the Hobbit from Tolkien and the entire LOTR appendices. Think "bridge movie". Anyway, this article breaks down the possible options for the trilogy better than I can. A great read. http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2012/07/26/59799-third-hobbit-movie-how-what-when-why/

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
djmangunz replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
This would be great, getting the sets that many of us have dreamed of, based on TDKR in just a few days. The only thing that makes me hesitate to think that is going to happen is the lack of news about a potential release of such sets. I mean, what better place to announce to the world that in a week or two that Lego sets based on TDKR will come out, than the SDCC? And as much as I have searched the past few hours, I can't find any information to make me believe that these sets will come out any sooner than December. But here is hoping that I am wrong and you are right! -
Bah, fail on my part. Perhaps the Warg Attack would be about $40, similar to whatever the exclusive could be.
-
That would be the dream scenario, although I suspect that they will release these sets around December along with the rest of the superhero line. Another situation is that they could just release one set with a big vehicle (perhaps the Bat?)and include Batman, Bane, and Gordon (who looks epic with that SWAT vest). Oh, and welcome back K. Good to see you brother! Good observation! I like the idea of releasing Marvel and DC sets at the same time so we don't have to wait until summer to get Nick Fury.
-
So does the inclusion of TDKR Bane mean that we might get the "Bat" aka the Batwing in a set? Or...(fanboy scream) a camo Tumbler? And does anyone have any background information about the white suit version of Batman? Is it from TDKR? Seriously, between this and the Hobbit sets, dang, that's a lot of scratch to spend on a child's toy.

Aw, hells yes, Nick Fury and the best villain in comic book history Dr. Doom!
