  1. At first I thought this was the typical interwebs BS...but no. Honestly I think this is a great move on the part of both parties. Disney has always had a great relationship with LucasFilm and how they have handled the Marvel franchise has me excited about what they might do with the SW universe. Lucas, despite how many people feel, has been behind ten of the most popular and influential films of all time but clearly he is burnt out and as he said, it is time to pass the torch to someone new and fresh. Besides, it's not like he won't have a hand in the new films, he has already mapped out the new trilogy. Collider (my favorite movie news website) breaks it all down for us. And no, Disney can't touch Indiana Jones or the Clone Wars. At least not yet... http://collider.com/disney-lucasfilm-star-wars-7/207372/
  2. Eh, it was wishful thinking anyway. Thanks for indulging me. But it is exciting that we are only a few weeks away(possibly) of seeing the sets in stores here in the US!
  3. Currently here in the states, Lego has free shipping for orders over a hundred and double VIP points. What's the over under on if we will see a pre-order for the Hobbit sets pop up before Oct 31?
  4. I would be happy to discuss the realism of the Iron Man film universe in Avengers Assemble thread in the Culture forum. Edit: Sorry, gotta get this last one in and I'm done with the topic. Per Collider: Quote-many fans are wondering whether or not the Mandarin will use his infamous rings of power. Marvel’s Kevin Feige recently spoke to EW on just such a topic, saying not to expect beams of ice or fire like in the comics. So, no magic, even though magic has already been introduced through Marvel’s films and the comics’ version of the Mandarin has ten rings of unfathomable power. I'm not the type of guy who says I told you so....
  5. I guess you and I have heard differing information about the 10 rings. If you look at the trailer, at one point the Mandarin is using a gun. I doubt if the rings had the alien technology like the comics the Mandarin would be packing a glock. But I digress because I fear that this is getting dangerously off topic. My main point was that the idea of having 10 small plastic rings seems unrealistic. You never got that set with Superwoman in it? Sad, cause I did. What I meant to say was Wonder woman. Sure. You have very valid points there. Perhaps I worded my explanation poorly. What I was trying to say was that in the Superheros line, female civilians are rare. Would I like a Pepper Potts figure? Sure, but at this point I don't think we will get one. Feel free to disagree with me all you want. It won't hurt my feelings.
  6. Maybe, but I seriously doubt it. I can understand having the "one ring" in the LOTR sets but what would be the point in having ten different rings for the Mandarin? Lego almost always focuses the features of their sets on the playability. Just can't see 8 year old boys buying all the Iron Man sets to collect 10 different rings. Listen, if a few months I am proved wrong, feel free to rub it in my face all you want. But until then, I just don't buy it. Besides, what the hell are you going to do with ten different rings anyway? As I said, Lego will include female figures with special powers or fighting abilities like those in the list you mentioned. Pepper Potts, who is a great character in the movies, doesn't have either. Maybe if Stark gives her a suit of her own, like in the comics, but doubtful. Aunt May and Mary Jane were great inclusions in those old Spider Man sets, but definitely the exception not the rule when it comes to what mini figures Lego puts in sets.
  7. Kids, I hate to break it to you but I really doubt that any of the sets will feature the Mandarin's rings. As far as I understand. the movie doesn't portray Mandarin's powers as coming from the 10 rings, like in the comic. They are more there for symbolism rather than as a weapon. The Iron Man movies have always focused on realism over fantasy much like the Dark Knight trilogy, so no magic rings.sad face. And as far as Pepper Potts being in any sets, I highly doubt that as well. Lego doesn't put too many females in sets, especially if they are lacking any special powers or fighting skills ie. Black Widow or Superwoman.
  8. It sounds like Fishface and Dogpound are taking Bebop and Rocksteady's place as the main mutant antagonists in the show. Kinda sad, I would have liked to have the former two in Lego form. But hey, Baxter as a minifigure is pretty cool too.
  9. Baxter Robot Rampage? So, I guess that the rumored Bebop set was just that; a rumor. Still, Baxter Stockman in Lego form is pretty sweet. Here's hoping it's about the size of the Sewer Lair to make up for the three other small sets. I can appreciate the fact that Lego is creating affordable sets but....I know this is an expensive hobby and I am willing to spend some scratch on it. Here's hoping we get some larger sets next round.
  10. I love this idea. One of the things I am a little disappointed about with this line is the lack of actual buildings besides Bag End (and Barrel Escape doesn't count). I would love to see some sort of fortress or building like Laketown, Rivendale (if it is featured at all in the second movie, or even a larger version of Thrandui's fortress.
  11. Thanks for the information Jargo. I had an idea of what the fourth episode was called, I just wasn't sure when the Nick website uploaded the new shows. Looks like they are two episodes behind. But more on topic, that's exciting to know about Casey next season because it gives me hope for a set with him in it. Hopefully Lego will keep this license for the duration of the show, similar to what they are doing with Clone Wars. Can I ask where you found the information about Casey being included in season two?
  12. I watched the original TMNT movie the other night just because of the excitement for this line. It made me want an official Casey Jones figure from the new show (that is, if he appears on the show). It wouldn't require a new mold, just a printed hockey mask. Heck, don't they have a hockey stick and baseball bat from one of the collectible minifigure lines? That would be an epic figure. You are welcome, Lego. Slightly off topic (don't kill me CM) but does anyone know when Nickelodeon' website airs the new episodes? I have been waiting for episode 4 to pop-up with bated breath. Or a suggestion for a safe site to watch them on? *end off-topic rant*
  13. "Yawn" the only redeeming value of this line are some of the molded helmets. Otherwise I feel uninspired. Sorry Star Wars, I can't see you any more, my heart belongs to the Hobbit and TMNT.
  14. Huw over at Brickset said that there will only be one version of Don and two versions of the other three. How he knows this I have no idea, but Huw and Brickset are both very reputable sources for info. Here is the quote from a Brickset forum: Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 17 Oct 2012 05:46 @Zordboy, yes. Donatello appears only in 79101 which we don't have an unwatermarked picture of yet. There are two versions of the other three, with different facial expressions. Isn't Huw a member here? Maybe he can give us some more information about the sets since he seems to have a good idea of what they contain.
  15. Chris Bradford is a semi-famous musician who happens to be a martial arts nut, so I thought you were being sarcastic. As you can see I haven't watched the last episode yet. It is nice to have named human villains in the sets besides just the Foot soldiers and Shredder.
  16. I LOVE the sewer lair as it is pure awesome sauce. Kinda disappointed that Don isn't in any of these sets, as I plan on getting the Lair and Shellraiser for sure. The Stealth Shell's build is somewhat lacking, but it has a great villain and a Foot soldier for probably $12. Not too shabby. I did a bit of research on who the red dude was in the Sewer lair but couldn't come up with anything. Too bad it's not the Sewer King. Hopefully he will show up in a set in the future. I hope we don't get Snakeweed. There are a lot of things about the new show that I really like, but the new mutant villains and their poor designs aren't one of them. I too would love to see an April minifigure as I really like this incarnation of her. But it being a boy's toy and all, typically the female characters are pushed to the side sadly.
  17. According to the NYCC pannel for the show, Don makes a turtle drone which just happens to have the name "Metalhead". My brother used to have the figure and I would steal him all the time. I loved the see-though brain on top!
  18. Perhaps a little background information will help alleviate some of the hatred towards the Shellraiser set. Apparently in the new show, the vehicle is made from an old subway car, which would explain its very blocky nature rather than a traditional "van" look. Also, it sounds like Leatherhead will make an appearance as well (for those who aren't TMNT fans or just aren't as old as me, Leatherhead is a mutated alligator and is very very awesome). So if we are lucky, perhaps one of the upcoming sets will feature him as well.
  19. I guess we will see a line divided between AFOLs on Lego's take on these figures much like we did on the Clone Wars faces.(I liked them,if you were keeping track) One thing I am sure of though, these sets will sell very well. Kids love the new show and it sounds like the Playmates toys are flying off the shelves already. Lego made a very wise move adding this franchise to their lineup.
  20. While I respect your opinion, I am a bit surprised. The two things which really sold me on this line are the shell "backpack" and the accuracy of the turtle's head molds compared to that of the show. To each his own, I guess.
  21. While I certainly appreciate that everyone has their own opinion, I am a bit surprised at all the hate being tossed toward these sets. I think that Lego does an excellent job staying true to the Nickelodeon source material while managing to give each set and figure a unique Lego feel. Maybe everyone was expecting this line to be based more on the 80s show? Anyway, I haven't been this excited about a new line since the announcement of TLOR and the Hobbit sets. The only downside to such an exciting line is that it makes this year very expensive....
  22. I am assuming that we don't have any definite prices on these sets, with the exception of the Shellraiser?
  23. I try to avoid looking at pictures of sets that I am going to buy for sure, but I had to sneak a peak at these. And while there isn't a set the level (or price) of Helms Deep, they are some fantastic sets. However, I am not kidding myself here, the real reason I am buying these will be for the fantastic minifigures. The dwarfs are so and random elves? So freaking awesome!
  24. The Tumbler may be a disappointment, but after checking it over a few times the Bat looks rather nice. While I would have rather they left the blue off and kept it closer to the movie version, it does break up the monotony of building an all black set. It almost has a kind of a Batman Beyond vibe to it. Plus the set comes with Gordon in a freaking SWAT uniform. That alone makes the set worth $40. So if the Spiderman set is $50 (I swear I read that on another site today) then what will be the $70 price set for the SuperHero line?
  25. The nine year old me is screaming for joy. And the figures look fantastic. Here's hoping we get a Casey Jones figure in the future. Although the Shellraiser doesn't hold a candle to LegoJalex's Party Wagon, which is one of the best small-scale MOCs I have ever seen.
