    Mortimer rubs a hand across his chin, frowning at Big Red and raising an eyebrow at Amethyst. "Your daughter? What exactly did she say about you? It doesn't sound like you're in good sorts, friend."

    Mortimer nods, a frown tugging at his mouth as he glances around the blurry bar with his good eye. "Poor lad. Who's he hang around with that's less-than-respectable?-- You want another drink, Big Red? It's all a friend can offer."

    Mortimer hands over his Handcannon, his Blazing Bow, Doppelganger, and Balanced Main-Gauche. He nods to the bouncer, making his way inside. "Well then," he whispers to the heroes. "Let's figure something out." He heads over to the man by the staircase, nodding in greeting. "What are you having tonight, fella?"

    Em whispers back to Keliim, his voice low. "I don't know it, but we've got no choice. Maybe someone will have to stay outside, come in with our weapons if things heat up. Thoughts?" Mortimer's hand twitches a little. He seemed hesitant to give up his weapons, his hand touching Erdy's handcannon. "No problem," he mutters, making eye contact with the ogre. "I assume you'll make sure nothing happens to them while we're inside?"

    Mortimer sets the Wolfish Fedora aside for now, planning to dish it out later. Mortimer shrugs, thumbing his eyepatch. "I'm sure you know we're unmatched when it comes to force, Avina." He lets the remark hang for a long moment, taking a couple deep breaths. "I'd rather avoid giving everyone we cross a thrashing if I can help it." Mortimer bows his head to the ogre in greeting. "We've come to say hello to an old associate."

    Mortimer glares at the slug, scorn clouding his good eye. "Good work," he nods. "Sorry to hear about the guardsman." He turns to the party, angling his head towards the door. "Let's move on. The Lady Luck's Locale, was it? You know of it, Avina?"

    Mortimer, his mind still focused on the interrogation, quickly scrawls his entry onto the scrap of paper hovering in front of him.

    "What were they armed with, exactly?" Mortimer mutters, more to himself than Gontzo. His chin suddenly shoots upwards, glaring at the slug. "And who's Priscilla? Were you not at Portia's Potion Shack?"

    Mortimer raps his fist against his chestplate, his eye trained between Gontzo's. "Did you not say you were beaten and pummeled in your own home? How could that be if they didn't touch you? You also mentioned that you didn't lift a finger against them, but if you had your crossbow and fired..."

    "I've dealt with vigilantes before," Mortimer nods, his thoughts drifting to his early days as a hero. "I can deal with them again." He turns to Gontzo. "How many were there? Did they leave anything behind? Better yet, were they only interested in you?"

    Mortimer shoots Kellim a glare and takes a noticeable step away from him. He had been taken off guard and tried to back up his fellow hero, but it seems things had fallen through. He was ashamed to have stooped to such levels. He bows his head in apology to the trio. "I'm sorry. I don't know what I was thinking." He then stands up straight, rising to his full height, and squares his shoulders. His voice is firm, his tone diplomatic. "We're investigating the same thing. Those mysterious figures are causing quite a ruckus. We had hoped this Gontzo here could have answered our questions about it. Now that you're here, that saves us a stop-- What do you know of these incidents?"

    Mortimer works his jaw for a minute, incredulous. His eye snaps from Keliim to Avina and back to Keliim before dropping down to his hand. He doubted he looked like a partygoer in his full suit of golden armour. He shakes his head. This was no time to be stunned silent, though he could hardly bring himself to speak up. "O-oh, aye, where's the party we was told about, eh?" Em stumbled awkwardly. Perhaps that gave credit to his drunkeness? He stifled his embarrassment.

    Mortimer snorts, though he seems to look a little impressed. Having allies he knew he could trust in battle seemed to set him more at ease after the loss of his eye, and though he questioned her motives, he figured it was safe to trust her in combat. His shoulders relaxed a little, though he still kept a firm hold on his shield. "Didn't think I'd be fighting alongside you again, Avina. If everyone's ready, let's go."

    "Do you plan on killing the Eubric Knight?" Wincing and shaking his head, Mortimer waves a hand. "No, never mind, that's not important. We ought to head out quickly if we want to beat the Watch. I've got no questions."

    Em inspects the offered hand for a surprised moment before clasping it in a firm shake. "Mortimer. Taking down Melville was... He didn't go down easy. I guess it's good to see you well, Paul." He turns back to Avina, jerking a thumb in Annienal's direction. "Yeah, do tell us more about exactly what our task here is. Something you can't or won't do yourself puts me on edge, especially considering the Crown's reputation within Heroica."

    Mortimer crosses his arms and shakes his head, frowning. "Senseless violence is useless. You won't find my knife between your ribs. One question, though-- what's the tie between the three branches? You have some sort of... overlord? Or just the same ideals?" He glances past Avina, jerking his chin upwards in greeting to the man with the metal eyepatch. "How's the leg?"

    "I know they're not to be trusted," Mortimer whispers back. "They're a cult; their goal is to 'improve the world.' They want to slay the Gods and wipe out magic, if they can. I don't understand them." He shakes his head, sighing. "Watch your back here."

    "Great," Em mutters, his face a frown. He recognized them. Mortimer strides towards the Crimson Crown followers, nodding in polite greeting, though his face still a scowl. "Let's get down to business. I know you're about that."

    Mortimer felt the hair on the back of his neck prickle. His eyebrows pushed towards eachother. They were only told to repeat the phrase, so-- "Festina lente?"

    Nodding to the party, Mortimer gives the reinforced door three swift knocks and calls the phrase "Festina lente."

    I'm probably a lot more excited for 140 than I ought to be. Really looking forward to diving into the quest, CMP! Looks like we've got a cool party, too.

    Stats look good to me. Mortimer nods in greeting to his fellow questmates, rubbing a nervous thumb under his eyepatch and pushing a shaky hand through his hair. "Be on your guard, Heroes," he mutters cryptically, glancing at each of them in turn. Perhaps it would be best not to go into too much detail-- he wouldn't want too much unrest between his new employers and his comrades. He didn't trust the Crimson Crown, but their job seemed... benevolent enough. He stood by the door, ready to knock thrice and call 'festina lente' as instructed-- but he flinches in surprise when he realizes he hasn't introduced himself. He bows his head again. "I'm Mortimer. Em. Whichever works."

    Mortimer glances at the questboard, noticing he had been picked for the Crimson Crown's Quest. He sighs, standing and hauling his gear over his shoulder. He had to be prepared-- thus, he heads to the marketplace, shoulders tense.

    Name a time and place and I'll be there, that sounds like a great time. Yeah, we've quested together a few times and Em's come to see Hybros as a good friend, too.
