  1. Thanks a lot for your comment Admiral croissant, I'm glad you liked my reviews. The sails are a really important part of the design of the ship...if the sails would be the only awful thing in that ship, it would be a reason to say is an awful ship. But is not the only reason: the jolly roger is awful too. and that blue ornaments are not very esthetic. It's easy to difference a fake or a real LEGO product when we are talking about entire sets, or about minifigs(chinese minifigs are terrible). If you buy only a small piece, isn't as easy, but you can notice in some photos about plastic quality is worse. When you see brilliant swords or guns, be sure they are fake. Eh...The design of that ship is terrible, with that so childish sails and flag. Minifigs are awful too. I think if it would be a "bootlegged" set it would look better. You can notice about Royal warship is a copy of Armada flagship and looks really nice, with some improvements to the original Lego set. Both Enlighten sets "adventure" and "black pearl" are a copy of Black Seas Barracuda and both look better than that "King of the seas"
  2. Thanks to the Thread "Fake BSB" i decided to continue with my fake Lego pirates reviews. Today: Enlighten King of the seas: Well, as you can see in the box, is an awful ship with awful minifigs The design of the sails and Jolly roger is terrible. I specially hate the face of the guy with blue tricorn. we can see is a modern set because one of the pirates has a face of the 2009 pirates(the guy with brown bandana) In any case there are cool accesories, but we saw them in other fake sets(brown bandana, new torsos, blue tricorn, captain's hat, etc) ah...look the back of the box...what an anachronism!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another set: Enlighten Royal warship Obviously is a copy of Armada Flagship: I must admit the chinese guys have improved the original set this time: Original ship has only one cannon, while fake ship has one cannon more in the stern(it may have 2 cannons in the stern, one in larboard and other in starboard, but i can't see that detail in the photos. The original is bigger and has a more detailed stern with that green doors. But minifigs are terrible, the originals spaniards are much better: here the fake spaniards: Obviously they are minifigs with imperial guard torso and spaniard helmet...ah, and the guy who seems to be in charge in that ship is a bad copy of Woodhouse, as you cansee here: That's all for today...i'll try to make more reviews and share with us mates.
  3. Sorry for being so late, but...cool review of that fake BSB paanjang16! Even being a copy, it has really cool things like the comic, and some accesories: the captain has a hat with crossed blades instead crossed bones, and upper edges of the hat yellow. One of the pirates has a blue tricorn...and the pirate with blue tricorn has a new torso. I like the improved mast too, with a place for the ship's look-out. Ah, the guy with the moustache has a new torso too
  4. i saw this set in 2006 in this same forum. It's curious the photo of the box is a photo of the original lego set. Of course, only the pirate of the right is real LEGO. But i must admit i like the brilliant blades, the brown bandana and the yellow parrot as curious accesories, specially the blades
  5. i think the Imperial ship is better. That is because is more realistic, real sailboats i have seen are more similar to the Imperial ship than the SES, so i imagine ships like Imperial flagship are more seaworthy than ships like SES. SES is more manageable to play because you needn't quit parts of the ship to access to the cannons...and I think this is the reason why is less realistic and seaworthy: It could become flooded with high waves In any case I love SES...is the best pirate lego ship ever
  6. i prefer classic sharks because the new have browneyes and an angry face....i prefer more realistic sharks
  7. new pirate minifigs are MUCH better than old. 1) New minifigs have printed back...old minifigs not. It's specially poor in old Bo'sun who wear a shirt with stripes...because they have printed chest but no printed back...so that striped shirt is like a huge bib. I can say something similar about Imperial Soldiers and guards, with printed chest with Blue/Red coat, but white back without print, while new Imperials have printed back too. 2) New minifigs have cooler faces, while all old minifigs have 2 dots as eyes and a smile. Despite of that, old pirates and some Imperials(like Woodhouse or De Martinet) had patch, beards, moustaches, and other accesories...but privates had only 2 dots and a stupid smile like that: while new privates have different faces. 3) Brickbeard is really cool with his gold hook and eppaulettes...more than Roger/Redbeard with gray hook and brown eppaulettes, even have a gray hook may be more realistic than a gold hook. I understand some people prefer old minifigs...i'm sure the reason is nostalgia. In any case i feel respect for the 1989-1997 pirate minifigs, and i have lot of them, but i am objetive.
  8. BEST PIRATE SHIP EVER!!!! and probably best pirate set! i have argued about why is the best ship plenty of times in this forum, so this time i only say: i have voted 5
  9. there are lots of that "pirated pirates" they usually has bad quality, but i usually like some accesories a bit different like the originals like the captain hat
  10. i have just read the pages now...too bad seeing captain Roger/redbeard in renegade runner...i'd like see Ironhook
  11. My favourite imperial base is Imperial Trading Post...is GREAT! I prefer ITP to Eldorado Fortress because is bigger, and have a merchant ship My favourite pirate base is Rock Island Refuge...a really cool set too with prison, 2 blue coats, a pirate girl, and a cool design
  12. rest in peace mate
  13. cool info but i think "steve" is not an official Lego name like the others. I think we call that pirate Steve because DoubleT of this forum, named him steve in this thread: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2590&st=0 anyway...your post is really usual to know many names
  14. I abslosutely LOVE that pic...about the ship...is great! i love the boarding pics too
  15. cool design of the minifigs...could you put more photos of the captain with a big red beard?
  16. that ship has the most cool design of all Lego ships in Pirates theme. I love it. The only thigs i don't like: you must remove some parts of the ship to access the cannons(but i must admit it's because that ship has a more realistic design than others like SES) About minifigs, the pirate with red bandana has short legs and Birckbeard hasn't the skull and crossed bones in his hat. I don't like that. The pirate with red bandana has a really cool design except to his legs...is a shame. Obviously, i have changed his legs. about accesories...you have 2 cool knifes, and a new treasure map. In any case i have voted outstanding. is the best ship, even better than SES.
  17. it's hard to choose but i think i my favourite is Skull eye's schooner. Is the most powerful ship of the Pirate theme. I love Rock island refuge too
  18. i'd like to vote to Captain Brickbeard, but isn't in the list so i vote for Roger/redbeard I like Broadside and woodhouse too, but i like pirates more to soldiers. I don't like Ironhook so much because is less powerful than Roger and isn't as neat. About Hakuka...i have never been a huge islander subtheme fan.
  19. Roger and Redbeard are the same pirate. Roger is the european name(except to in Germany, who is Captain Knoest), and Redbeard is the USA name...so saying "Actually that is Captain Roger, Redbeard had a different torso and legs" is wrong This is captain Roger/Redbeard: And this is Ironhook and his varieties: That's the reason i don't understand why LEGO Group released a sweter with an Ironhook pic, and named it Captain Roger...so is hard for me to believe is an official product In any case, thanks for your help
  20. Me too... I love that old pics...i have seen all catalogues since 1991 to 1999...i always enjoyed looking that cool photos for hours. I love seeing pirates versus soldiers scenes. I haven't got the 2009 catalogue but i have collected all 2009 pirate sets except to shipwreck hideout. but i have noticed about this: in early 90s, when you bought a pirate set, there were a small catalogue inside the box, or even a simple catalogue-page in small sets. in that pages, you could see pirates fighting against soldiers in really epic battles 2009 pirate sets have "simple catalogue-pages" attached too...but there aren't epic battles...that pages only show you all actual sets, clearly separated. I'd like to see a picture of Captain Brickbeard's pirates having an epic battle in Brickbeard bounty against the new Imperial flagship or attacking Imperial's fortress
  21. hi mates: i have found that picture in wapedia, the mobile wikipedia: http://wapedia.mobi/en/Lego_Pirates They said is an official merchandise released by Lego Group...is that true? I don't understand why Lego Group released a sweter with an Ironhook image, and named it Cap'n Roger...so i guess is a fanwork...but i'd like to assure Can you confirm if is an official merchandise or not? Thanks
  22. obviously i prefer Renegade Runner....Cross bone Cliper has an AWFUL design
  23. is a wonderful new and a wonderful ship...i love it...i really LOVE IT
  24. Both at the same time. I prefer Classic pirates to POTC, but if TLC release both themes, i could use POTC theme accesories to build MOCs
  25. of course i sign here. WE WANT PIRATES!
