  2. Hi mates: As i have said several times, new pirate lego minifigs are better than the old, and new cannons are better too. But old sets are better. So i have changed the minifigs, cannons and flags in my old pirate sets. Today i show you my Rock Island Refuge: EDIT: i have removed the photos...sadly they have poor quality. I may try do it again
  3. ALBA GU BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATH

    Great avatar mate

Braveheart is the best movie ever

  4. the pirate sets are nice and we have new pirate minifigs. We can see a 3rd pirate captain in Pirates Perilous Pitfalls...and pirate ambush is cool too. The only set i don't like is Cross bone clipper...that ship has an awful design...is a worse verion of renegade runner, even Cross bone Clipper has rudder and renegade runner not. Ah, Redbeard Runner has only 3 cannons, even Black Seas barracuda and Skull eye's schooner had 4. But i think RBR may be more powerful than BSB, because RBR cannons are mobile. Imperial Armada sets are really poor...only a small set and a one cannon ship. Then the pirate theme became worse and finally was canceled until 2009. I didn't know TLC released a small set with a redcoat officer...is a simple but nice set. Nice review as always mate
  5. thanks a lot for the images, Runamuck...is really interesting. Hum...i think pirates playing football is a really silly idea, but knowing official Lego names is always interesting
  6. good review. I think there are new accesories like the black boat...in 1989-1997 pirate theme we had red and brown boats only...in 2009 pirate theme we had blue boats too....now we have black boats. Hum...the guy with the tricorn has a nice accesory to keep his blade when he is not fighting. But i don't like Jack Sparrow's compass. In old pirate theme(and in other themes like Aquazone) we had true compasses...now Sparrow's compass is simply a piece of plastic. How sad.
  7. You said you are using Brickset. Then, according to Brickset, that guy is a governor: http://brickset.com/minifigs/?m=pi117 According to Brickset again, "the cook" is a pirate: http://brickset.com/minifigs/?m=pi120 About the guy of the old flagship, he appears in Black seas barracuda too, so is another pirate And finally, about Lego football manias pirates...if you could add screenshots with the chacaters, it would be great
  8. Runamuck...you are my idol! Great info mate. Ah, i always thought Bessie and Anne are the same character, with different names. Now, i see i was confused about that. Ah, 2 things about the new guards: 1) you said the chief of the new guards is a Captain...i always thougt is a governor because i think is a new version of Broadside, Like Brickbeard is a new version of Roger. Are you sure is a captain? 2) Are you sure the cook is a member of the imperial crew? I think is a pirate because is dressed like a pirate, looks evil, and we can see him fighting a redocoat in the box of the set 10210. Ah, Captain Roger/Redbeard is Called Captain Knoest in Germany(i saw the comic in german in 2005), you can add it to if you want
  9. you said you meant two princess...hum, i think there are only 2 girls in 1989-1997 pirate theme, Anne and islander princess...who is the other princess? Of course you can add in your blog what i said about islanders...i am glad you want to add it Runamuck...you said Uhu is the male islander...and is not the princess...in named pirates thread, someone said uhu is the islander girl...the guy who said that may had a mistake and confused me...in fact the guy who posted all names had other mistakes whith Flashfork and Steve, like i said in the thread, but i didn't know he had another mistake about islanders are you saying the islander guy is called Uhu in Lego Racers?
  10. good review mate. But you wrote "Sets from 1993" when you are talking about 1994. I really enjoy your reviews like the big lego pirate fan i am. Is curious when you said both girls in pirate theme(Anne and princess Uhu) were the classic damsels in distress when you play with your lego...i have always see Anne as a dangerous girl, like the pirate she is (but the 2009 pirate girl look more dangerous and evil, with her evil grin and patch in his eye). About Uhu i understand she may be only a indian girl, and i think she may be a damsel in distress then(even we can see her using an arch...she may be a good hunter but not a girl ready to fight)...but Anne is a pirate so i think she may be ready and capable to kill, like a pirate. well, in your review we can see in 1994 Ironhook was the protagonist of islander subtheme, instead Captain Roger/Redbeard. We can notice about his legs usually change(in 1992-1993 sets he wore black trousers, in set ref.1729 wore blue trausers, in the other sets he wore a pegleg and black trousers) and he often wears blue epaulets. You said lots of people dislikes islanders. Well, i think adding an island tribe in pirate theme was original, and is coherent because if nowadays there are island tribes in Amazonas and some south american countries like Colombia, in the golden era of piracy there were more of this tribes. The problem, in my opinion was the story that The Lego Company told us was incoherent: they said pirates were interested in steal islanders treasure. Islanders treasure is a coffer full of golden coins like you may notice in some sets (for example: enchanted island). It's an absurd story because an island tribe doesn't use money, so why they have a coffer with gold coins? adding an island tribe to pirate theme wasn't a mistake...the mistake was the official lego story about that. That's the reason i don't like islander sub-theme. About Skull island is a repeat of Forbidden Cove, i totally disagree. Skull island was much better because you have 2 redcoats(that bring us the redcoats again), a cannon, a crane, bring us Captain Roger/redbeard again(is the only set of 1994-1995 with him, while the other sets had captain Ironhook...i am not saying Roger was better than ironhook, even i like him more...i am saying bring us old minifigs again is cool) and the skull wasn't a simple ornamet, like the forbidden cove statue is, you can move the skull and is a tunnel...and Skull island is bigger. I think the best pirate base was 1991 Rock island refuge, and the second best base was Skull island, even better than 1989 forbidden island(even it has a prison). About the imperial outpost being a copy of lagoon lock up...i think in fact the 1991 set inspired this 1995 set...but both sets are really good, and different. Lagon lock up has a more simple building, but more minifigs. Greetings mate
  11. hi! I'm glad you find interesting the info i have told you. About Jake the snake blake, i mean the guy that appears in Redbeard runner with same design as Ironhook except to his hat is called jake the snake blake, according to that post: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=50788&st=0&p=914563entry914563 You may doubt about the fidelity of that post, i understand it...but in page 2, TalonCard confirmed all Redbeard Runner names are from the 1996 March-April issue of the LEGO Mania Magazine, the official publication of the American LEGO club. I hope you have understand me now...probably you didn't understand me the first time because english is not my first language...sorry
  12. Great work mate! Aaaah i really love LEGO PIRATES About your 1992-1993 review...i's really cool. I see you hated Renegade runner and when you grew up, you loved it...i felt the same. But Renegade Runner hadn't rudder...EPIC FAIL About your minifigs review...i see you said something about when Ironhook was released by first, some people thought it was a new design of Captain Roger/Redbeard...i think it was a mistake since the beggining. Roger/redbeard is red-haired, while Ironhook is brown-haired. On the other hand...both Renegade runner and Skull eye's schooner were released in 1993, RR with Ironhook as a captain and SES with Redbeard/Roger as a captain, and it proved they were different characters. Ah...the minifig with same torso and face as Ironhook that appeared in Redbeard Runner may be other person, not Captain Ironhook. That is because the Redbeard Runner guy is called Jake the snake blake. your work show us old lego pirates of 1989-1997 had really cool buildings like Imperial Trading Post, Eldorado fortress, Rock island refuge, Skull island, etc...and really cool pirate ships like BSB and SES. New 2009 pirates have better minifigs, and that is obvious when you see the comparation in your blog...but even you have not mentioned it, 2009 buildings are worse...compare Eldorado fortress with Soldiers fortress Prison. Returning with your review...the islander girl is called Princess Uhu, according with the post of the named pirate minifigs. When you talk about 2009 minifigs, you said "governor's daughers". So both the girl of Brickbeard's bounty and the girl of the Imperial flagship are Governor's daugher...are your opinion or is an official lego fact? Ah...you said "sadly there is now no backpack anymore". 2009 soldiers have the backpack printed in her back. Greetings mate
  13. He did it, but the result is GREAT...i think is not the one that painted LEGO. Some days ago, a guy posted hir custom minifigs with a painted hat
  14. GREAT! I love your MOC...your movie is really nice too, i love the music, the violin and the moment in that the pirate touch the girls butt and is hit by her. Your MOC is really nice as a pirate tabern full of evil captains. About minifigs...i see you have used the face of that Spyrius guy from space theme: It was a good thing, because that face looks really evil, so is adecuate for a pirate. I see you used the face of Ice planet 2002 chief too...is another good face for a pirate. I must admit i don't understand why there are a samurai and a spaniard in the same table as pirates, but anyway great work mate
  15. Thanks mate...A scan would be great, but i understand that you could have lost that old magazine. In any case, i believe you.
  16. Yeah, Brickhead, both are copies of Lego Black Seas barracuda. But i find "Adventure" (the BSB copy with black and white sails) has a really interesting minifig: a fake Ironhook Look at his face...his face seems to be like a real lego fig, even other Enlighten faces are a bad copy of the original face they try to emulate(for example the face of the guy with brown bandana who seems to be the helmsman). I think that fake Ironhook is cool.
  17. Oh by the way...i have seen more mistakes in the list Captain Grog posted and i quoted arguing about Steve is not a Official name. Flashfork wears a red and white stripped shirt, not blue and white. The guy that Captain Grog said is Ben Gunn is called Castaway. I was looking that in http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Pirates_minifigures I can't find references to names like Tatto McGoo or Black Jack Hawkins...i can't find the names of pirate minifigs released in 1996...could someone tell me where captain Grog found that names? Thanks
  18. Eh...could someone tell me about my question? Thanks
  19. Thanks for your replies. Well Lordofdragons...you said something about show minifigs...you can see that fake minifigs in this thread. In each set i review i talk about the minifigs. I usually say they are awful, but i like some accesories like hats. In the "Black Pearl"(a fake BSB) review that paanjang16 did, he shown us photos of the minifigs too. If you want more and/or better photos to see the minifigs better, sorry, but i don't have any of them, so i can't take better photos...all photos i use in my reviews are taken from the net.
  20. about the visual effects...is a great film. I admire that people who can make films using real lego toys. About the story...to be sincere, I find is a really silly story. I don't understand why 2 imperial guards are working with pirates...the idea of a huge robot fighting against pirates is a bit silly. And about the guy with the katana, forgive me for my ignorance, but who is it? I think he may be a star wars character, a video game character or something like that.
  21. Thanks a lot Captain becker. I am glad you like my reviews About if there are more companies that try or tried to copy LEGO, there are several companies. In the link that Bricktrain has posted, you can see more of them. But i'm going to review only Enlighten sets until once i have finished to review all(except Black pearl. I won't review this sets because paanjang16 did it before. Ah, i think Enlighten is the best of the companies that have tried to copy Lego. Reasons: Even most of its products are poor, they are the company that has better copied Lego. Enlighten bricks and minifigs are 100% compatible with Original lego bricks and sets, and, we must admit it, their sets have some interesting accesories. Today i'm going to review Enlighten Rob Barrack: Good points: new accesories, like the pirate captain hat with those gold ornaments and crossed blades instead bones. Admiral hat is really cool too(I love both hats). We can see a lock in the jail, some shells in the floor, and 2 shields with the Imperial Armada logo with inverted colors. You can see better the hats in the back of the box: Bad points: Most of the minifigs are terrible: I specially hate the 6th guy of that scan . About soldiers, we can see one with a 18-19th century british hat, and other with a 16th spanish helmet. The boat has a harpoon that shoot darts(that darts are copied of Lego Aquazone theme). I find this anachronic: That set hasn't an entire building...if we look the back of the barrack we will see this: So we haven't a real fortress, we have only the front door. And finally, i'll comment a curious point. I'm not sure if is a good or bad point, but is a fact: the prison works in a way you introduce TNT in a slot and then one of the jail's walls is shooted with a piece with a mainspring: That is not an original idea of Enlighten. The Western Lego Set Sheriff's Lock up, released in 1996, included a jail with the same trick. Hope you liked my review. Greetings mates
  22. Thanks mate! I see everyone says "The king of the seas is not as bad, only the sails and flags are ugly". For me, the fact that sails and flags are so ugly is a reason to say is an awful set. According with Wikipedia:
  23. Your ship: Sea Serpent: I don't see the common parts
  24. GREAT IMPERIAL MOC MATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD WORK! It remind me to Imperial trading post or Eldorado Fortress, but with some improvements like the kitchen. I specially Like the tower. Ah...the ship remind me to ITP merchant ship
