I don't like the ropes you used. You should use ropes like The Lego Company used in sets like BSB, SES, Imperial trading post(it has a crane), etc But this is the only bad point in my opinion. Is a nice MOC by the way

Sorry for repeating thread. I didn't know it has been asked before. In any case, i have voted again for BB, now in this topic.

Ok, photos added Thanks to all of you for your replies

Hi mates: I wonder which of this 2 three cannon pirate ships is better. In my opinion: RBR has better sails, because BB's sails are too childish and really awfull. 1 point to RBR BB has better stern, with a really nice and spacious cabin, while RBR has no real cabin for the captain. 1 point to BB BB has better cannon system: RBR cannons aren't mobile...they are fixed in the floor of the deck, while BB deck cannons have wheels and can move to the other side. 1 point to BB RBR Jolly Roger is cooler than BB. 1 point to RBR RBR have less realistic sail system due to the collapse mechanism of the masts. 1 Point to BB BB:3 RBR:2 So I prefer BB to RBR, but...what do you think? wow the real set is totally different than the Black Pearl appeared in the videogame

Pictorial Review - 6289/6290 Red Beard Runner
Captain Roger replied to Bricverson's topic in LEGO Pirates
I haven't got the RBR but i guess it has shooting cannons and you have put non shooting cannons in your photo. I think you should indicate in your reviews when you are changing original pieces and accesories. If the RBR had non shooting cannons and i am wrong, let me know -
Only 5 1992 Imperial Flagship Skull eye's schooner Armada Flagship Brickbeard's bounty 2010 Imperial Flagship I have bought old BSB in eBAY but i haven't received it yet

great MOC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i really love it...i only suggest you changing old 1992-1995 redcoats for 2009 redcoats...i think new redcoats look better. I really love it because that MOC could be a real lego set

Fake LEGO pirates : general discussion
Captain Roger replied to Captain Roger's topic in LEGO Pirates
Wellcome Bulko. I totally disagree with you about 2009 Lego pirate sets are Crappy...they are worse than the 1989-1997 if we talk about construction, but minifigs are better. In any case 2009 Lego pirate sets are better than most Enlighten sets. 2009 lego pirate minifigs had back print in the torso, really cool faces, some of them had epaulets, etc...while Enlighten minifigs hadn't back print and some of them had troll faces, like you said. About construction...Soldiers fortress and Shipwreck Hideout are better than skeleton hamlet... and Brickbeard's bounty is much better than all enlighten ships except to "the black pearl" and "adventure"...but both Enlighten ships are copies of Black Seas Barracuda. To be sincere, i didn't like that small ships you have posted...they are even worse than the Cross bone clipper...i see they have mechanical oars and i find it silly. But i must admit i like some enlighten accesories like the treasure map, the yellow parrot, the blue tricorn, captain's hats(all of them are different than lego's captain hats), chromed swords, etc. You said Enlighten had improved...i think enlighten doesn't already exist because lego complained about they were copying original Lego sets and concept, and LEGO won a default action ordering the destruction of the shipment. -

Fake LEGO pirates : general discussion

Thanks Weil for informing us about Sluban. Thanks Rhynix and Tristan for showing us new fake sets. Today, I'm going to make a review of Enlighten Skeleton Hamlet...another AWFUL set of Enlighten. Front of the box: Back of the box: This is one of the worse Enlighten sets i have seen. Other Enlighten sets have good points, but this set not. Some accesories that would be nice were already included in other Enlighten sets, so i won't include them as good points. Let's begin with the bad points: Minifigs are really awful, ugly, nasty, etc. Just look: Why the captain has a bra? I guess Enligten tried to draw stripped clothes in his torso, but it seems a bra. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARLG!!! I can't look this guy's face...is so awful, so ugly...when i see that minifig, i feel i'm going to puck the other minifigs are awful too, but not as awful as the guy with red bandana: And the jolly roger is copied of an old Playmobil pirate ship: That's all...next time i'll make a review of a Sluban set...but i'll continue making reviews of Enligten sets if i can -
Review: 6281 Pirates Perilous Pitfall
Captain Roger replied to Inconspicuous's topic in LEGO Pirates
Really cool set. Is a shame it wasn't released in europe. Is one of the best pirate sets because is diferent and has rare minifigs: It has another captain, not Roger/Redbeard or Ironhook It has the pirate with an anchor tattooed in his chest. This minifig only appears in this set and Red Beard Runner It has 2 spaniards, spaniards are really rre minifigs Is the only pirate set that includes a crown like part of a treasure It has a different cannon, a nice shipwreck, etc This set is GREAT -
sadly...i have only: Skull Eye's schooner Brickbeards bounty Imperial Flagship(released in 1992) Imperial Flagship(released in 2010)

by the way i bring you new reviews: 9821 Black Coat Pirate Building Block Set Obviously is a copy of this original Lego set of 1996: and the torso of the pirate is copied of a member of the Aquasharks, the evil guys of Lego Aquazone in 1995-1997: Pirate Building Block Set (raft) Just compare: You can notice plastic quality is much better in the LEGO set...the Enlighten set has much worse quality(Color looks better in the LEGO set) The serigraphy of minifig's face look much better in the Lego minifig. Same about the torso Finally compare a fake islander set with the original: This time Enlighten did a good imitation...but again, the plastic looks much worse in the fake set...look at the crocodile...the LEGO crocodile looks much better than the enlighten one. And shield's serigraphy looks better in the LEGO set too. -

I have just return from my holidays...i'm glad you are still interested in this thread. But i disagree with Norrington in some points...and i'm going to expose my opinions Some enlighten minifigs are virtually identical(like the Ironhook or Roger/redbeard imitations), but some of them are really awful. Like i have said, the 6th guy's face is really nasty: I have said in my reviews that Enlighten minifigs are often interesting with original accesories like hats or torsos that doesn't exist in LEGO. But some minifigs are awful...and i try to judge them with imparciality. And Obviusly LEGO minifigs are better than Enlighten minifigs. if you look a Lego head, and the enlighten pirated head of the same face, the original is better designed. Enlighteen's heads usually seems much worse than original LEGO heads. About torsos...compare a LEGO redcoat with a Enlighten redcoat, a LEGO stripped shirt with and Enlighten stripped shirt. All minifig copies are worse than the original copies. But i must admit there are some Enlighten minifigs with torsos that aren't copied of lego, and they are nice. I suggest you to read the entire thread...you'll see really awful minifigs. About BSB copies...i must admit they are good copies, but obviously worse than the original BSB I understand both LEgo and Enlighten sets are toys, to entertain, to play, etc...so historical accuracy is not very important. But i think pirate play sets, castle play sets, or any play set based in past times must have some historical accuracy...not strictly rigurous, but some mistakes are unforgivables, like this: http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss65/burrito-breath/enlighten/311/311-02.jpg About Imperial Flagship soldiers...the Original LEGO spaniards are much better than the enlighten minifigs...and i am not talking about historical accuracy, i am talking about appearance. Just look the photos If LEGO would make something similar to "King of the seas", i'll think is an awful set, don't think i'd jugde it better if it would be a LEGO set Personally i don't like Enlighten sets, but i find they have nice and interesting accesories like chromed swords or guns, some hats and torsos, etc...but i think they are a bad copy of LEGO and i like to compare them with imparciality. Nice to argue with you in a friendly way -

Even we had already a review of the enlighteen Black Pearl, i have found today some interesting photos about it: You can notice about the background is the same that LEGO used in artbox of 1989-1997 pirates sets. I am trying of find more Enlighten sets to make new reviews, but sometimes is hard to find photos and i won't buy that awful sets, even they have interesting accesiores...if i don't find new enlighten photos, i may talk about other companies that have copied LEGO too -
ok, thanks. I haven't read all posts of POTC thread, so i didn't see these before. Sorry
-
Hi mates: I have found that: http://historybricks.com/2011/01/15/lego-pirates-of-the-caribbean-new-pictures/lego-poc-4195/ You can see a pic of a Queen annes revenge with alternative sails. Sadly, the pic has terrible quality. is a beta version?
-
Classic Pirates. Reasons: there are much more sets. the only complete POTC set is Queen Anne's revenge...while Classic Pirates has much more complete sets like Imperial trading post or SES Barbossa's minifig is much different than original Barbossa.
-
great review...is really cool the comparation of new and old minifigs, and the description of new accesories like the green bandana or the blue boat. Well, you forgot to mention the black brilliant cannons when you are telling about new accesories. I see you think Soldiers fortress is a improved version of Lagoon Lock up...when i said it by first time i thought it was a worse version of Eldorado Fortress...in any case is a cool set. Kraken attack isn't as terrible as you said...is a good way to get a raft and 2 new pirate minifigs...if you don't like the kraken, ignore it About Brickbeards bounty i agree sails are really awful. In any case great review of the new wave
-
HI mates: Like i have said several times, old LEGO pirate sets are better than the new wave, but minifigs and some accesories like cannons, are better. So i am making photos of old sets with new minifigs and accesories...I posted Rock Island Refuge in the lego pirate photos thread and someone told me "this thread isn't for that kind of photos" so, i open a new thread for Skull Eye's Schooner with new tripulation And i show you again Rock Island refuge with new pirates, cannon, and Jolly Roger: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Captain-Roger/Pirates/rockislandrefuge5.jpeg Hope you like it...next time, Imperial Trading Post
-
Well mate...the subtitle says "no MOCS please" MOC means "my own creation"...but i think taking an original LEGO set, changing the minifigs and some accesories supposed to be in the original set like the cannonn can't be called "my own creation".
-
Well...here you have the photos...they may be better, but i have used a mobile phone: Hope you like it!
