Jeaux watched the commotion as the small imp-like creature began to divide up a rather significant pile of items, between a small group of heroes. It would appear they had been rewarded rather heavily for what ever quest they had recently completed, yet Jeaux did not see the sense of satisfaction that one usually carries after a job well done. He decided to take a look at the quest board and see if there were any new requests for heroes. There were two notices at the moment, one for clearing monsters from a farmer's fields and another commissioned by a man from Salamanda. The second quest intrigued Jeaux, they were looking for people with his particular skill set and meeting more people from outside the city of Eubric might help him fill in some of the missing pieces in his memory. Jeaux picked up the quill next to the board and signed his name under the quests description. Jeaux signs up for Quest 67

For the basic classes it works pretty well. A beginner rogue (level 1 with WP3) has an average damage per round of 3.5. When you introduce some of the buffs like lucky it can change things a bit and when you have enemies with different types, or advanced classes that have abilities that aren't strictly damage it can change things even more, (assassination, summon, favored targets, etc.) It definitely isn't a perfect system, but it can help to get a framework to start from. It can also help identify very specific issues where an enemy has too much SP for the party, or far too little health. With that list of items, Hybros could probably open his own stall in the marketplace.

I took the damage results for each die roll and divided that result by 6, then sum up the numbers and you get the average damage per round. I doubled the damage for hastened, double strike, and elemental modifiers. Sum up all of the results and you arrive with the party's damage per round. The 3.89 * number of enemies is from magic burst. It would deal 20 damage to each enemy with a 1/6 chance of double damage since Thalion has 6 gems at his disposal. ((20 * (5/6) + 40 * (1/6)) / 6 = 3.89 Writing this post I checked over my numbers and it appears I miscalculated Alex's Shield, bringing it up 152.67 + 3.89 * number of enemies. I love math

Doing some quick calculations, and if I understand the demonic scissors correctly, it would seem the current party on your quest has a total party damage of about 146.67 + 3.89 * number of enemies damage per round against humanoids. Mostly thanks to Sarge and his 4 hits per round.

So just to make sure I fully understand the operation of the Handy Briefcase I thought I would describe the behavior in a post here, so I could be corrected if I have anything wrong. The briefcase lets the player use 2 items in a round without being hastened. The player cannot use an item and attack in that round If the player has more than 1 turn in the round, the briefcase does not allow more items to be used. Scrolls are not considered items. An Alchemist could either use 2 items, or 1 item and an attack. Does that about cover it, or have I gotten something wrong and/or left something out? EDIT: Updated item 3 to be more inclusive, updated to not affect scrolls

Jeaux entered the hall, he could see there were quite a few people he had not met. He headed to the bar and asked for a hard beverage, then looked over the hall to megablocks some of these new individuals. Two of the men who had accompanied him to the cemetery had returned ahead of him, while the other two heroes were likely on their way back. He could see Arnulf in the hall, but Sir Brickington and Karie seemed to be out of quests at the moment. As he turned back to his drink, he heard his name amidst the noise of the crowd. The voice was unmistakably the lunatic mage from the graveyard.

On his way back to the hall, Jeaux stopped for a moment in the Marketplace. He sold his spare bow to Anwyl for 20 Gold, and headed to the cart that had recently arrived in town. Looking at the myriad of gems, a Topaz caught his attention. He opened his briefcase and withdrew 100 gold, trading it for the fluorescent stone. Jeaux then looked back in his briefcase at the measly 8 gold remaining. 88 + 20 - 100 = 8 Gold

As much as I would enjoy taking credit for that, it didn't even occur to me until Eric Su mentioned it. It definitely made finding Spike quite a bit easier.

I agree with most of the assessments thus far. While I would have liked a bit more gold, specifically enough to buy a gemstone, there were enough battles in the quest that I felt XP was a part of the loot. I also appreciated that the puzzles were not random chance as I had assumed they would be, but rather utilized an element of strategy. All in all, it was a solid quest and a lot of fun to participate in.

"Yes Indeed" Jeaux remarked as he made his way out of the graveyard and back towards the Hall of Heroica. -
You have enough gold now to buy an amethyst from Elphaba before she leaves.

Jeaux keeps one of the bombs to replace one of the bombs he used to dispatch the ghosts, and hands the other to Em. He turns to the rest of the party, "It would appear our mission here is complete. We should head back to the church and inform our employer that his cemetery is one again a place for the dead to rest in peace" Loot Distribution Jeaux - Ice Bomb Em - Ice Bomb -

"You're bow has proven to be very reliable in this battle, but I would rather not chance another opponent entering the fray. If we can guarantee a swift end to this fight, it would be advantageous to take that route." -

"Everyone retreat to the back row and take a defensive stance! I will mop up the rest of our opponents." Jeaux pulled one of the Holy Bombs from his bag and lobbed it at the two ghosts his party was facing. OOC: I plan to use another bomb in the next round as well, IF the poison damage will kill Specter F before Specter H arrives (both are applied at the end of the round). If not, then we will utilize a different strategy for the next round. Party Order Zoltan Jeaux Amma Em Heckz -

OOC: Rangers never miss, we just take a much more careful aim (damage equal to weapon power), so Specter G should be at 39 HP. "Keep up the good work Em, with any amount of good fortune we should be able to finish this quickly" Jeaux nocks an arrow and sights it at Specter G, firing from the back row. Heroica RPG - Quest #61: Grim Grinning Ghosts

OOC: C and B should have gotten free hits since no-one targeted them, and G should be at full health since he just appeared. Oh and Heckz was healed to full health last round, so he should still have 4 HP remaining. "Everyone target a different ghost, we can't afford too many of them acting on their own. Zoltan, Heckz, focus on C and E, Amma, Em, and I will focus our efforts on the targets with a bit more vitality, and try to stick to the back row for now."
