We're on page 666 for the hall thread, people! Time to party like it's the mid 80's and America's going through the Satanic Panic!
-
Karie placed a hand onto the bed, next to Sorrow. "No. No you weren't. There's no reason to beat yourself up for taking your own path." Karie replied. "I'm just... shocked. You always said your health was deteriorating, but... I guess I just never really anticipated it."
-
"I'm... glad that you managed to do so." Karie replies. "I'm... glad that you managed to find your faith again." Karie felt somewhat left out that in his last years Sorrow seemingly went to find his faith and told her nothing about it. She was at least happy he found some amount of solace. "Masson and Rachelle are doing good. I've found myself with them a lot more, what with the slump Heroica's been in." Karie took in a deep breath. "You haven't missed much. The hall's been quiet."
-
Karie quickly reaches for the glass of water and hands it to Sorrow, careful that he does not spill it.
-
Karie leaves most of her belongings at the door and slowly makes her way towards the bed, kneeling next to it to look over Sorrow. She exasperatingly smiles at him, trying to hold back a flood of emotions. "...yeah. It's me. I'm here." Karie replied, not sure what to say, or what even to do. She was horrible around death and finality. It was something that always seemed to come back to her, whether it be Kayla, or Cliff, or someone else in her life. She didn't like saying farewell. "... w-what happened to you? You just... sort of disappeared. If things were rough, you could've come to me. I could've done something."
-
With the man gone, Karie took in a deep breath. She moved her hand onto the doorknob and open the door. "Hello?" Karie looked around for any signs of Sorrow, unsure if she wanted to see him in whatever his current stat was or not. "Is anyone here?"
-
"It's of plenty of concern to me, seeing as how I'm related to the man you're buying stuff off of." Karie proclaims, setting one of her feet on the creaky steps leading up to the porch. "You can leave the money and take your boots. I'll ensure it gets taken care of."
-
Speaking of, if anyone wants, I'm willing to wrap up the Cemetery arc as nicely as I can if anyone wants to see Amber Makepeace one last time. I've got an idea in the back of my head as to how I can at least leave it with some sort of resolution.
-
"Thanks. In that case, we'll be back in a bit." Karie stood up and headed out the door, and into Eubric's cold streets. --- Making her way to 36 Repose Way, Karie noticed the large amount of stuff left on the porch. She recognized most of it as Sorrow's. She then spotted the man on the doorstep. She scowled. "Excuse me, just what exactly are you doing here?" Karie questioned the man at the door. She never got his name, but she remembered his hostility from their previous encounter.

In terms of mechanics, the "immune to X" cancels out the "grants permanent X".

"I agree with the rebuilding aspect." Karie stated, gripping her cup of wine. "We're better than a bunch of muscle for hire. Heroica needs to stand for something, otherwise we'll fall for anything." Karie then motioned to Kiray, motioning for her to sit with the rest of the group. "Kiray's alright in my book. She's a lot more on the up-and-up than some other people in this hall." Karie didn't trust a lot of people in this hall, but Kiray seemed trustworthy enough during this lull. She grinned at her, raising her glass. Throughout the past year of seeming quiet in the hall, this communion of ragtag heroes was enough to make Karie happy. She would've hoped, deep down, that everyone could've been here, Em, Jeaux, Skrall, Nessa, Jinnipher, and Lind could've been there to enjoy this peaceful moment of introspection and planning. It felt like something Arthur would've enjoyed. Karie hoped in that moment that he'd managed to find peace with himself and that he hopefully reconnected with Myrriam. Her thoughts rested on Sorrow. It didn't feel like five years to Karie. It all went by so quick. She took a hearty drink from her wine and laughed to herself. In this one moment, she was happy. Noticing the message posted nearby, she motions for a heavily armoured elf packing her bags to pass the noticed to her. Bringing it back, Karie begins to look over the notice, her expression of joy faded away as she set her glass down and read through the notice. Karie set the note down, moving her hands through her hair. "... I need to head out soon... if anyone wants to come with me. My..." Karie bites her lip, stopping herself from finishing her initial sentence. She can feel her emotions swell up. Taking a deep breath, she suppresses them for the time being. "Sorrow doesn't have much time left, and I intend to go see him."

No, you can't be hastened period while wearing the Greaves.

"Pfft, this city is my respective land." Karie proclaims, taking a swig of Falana Wine. "I was born in this city, and I'll probably die in it as well, and if that's going to be the case, I'm going to make this organization the best it can be for this city." "Several times. I've saved this city from being annihilated off the face of Olegaia by a dragon claiming to be the father of dragons. There's a reason I'm standing here and this city still stands."
-
"The quiet's been a nice excuse to raise my kid and spend time with my husband in-between my out of Heroica jobs. Still, my daughter's getting inquisitive now. She's only two, but she runs around like it's going out of style, and her new favourite words are "what's that?" I'm worried she's going to somehow get into the weapon's locker. I've been debating moving a lot of my old gear out. Which elf? There's many elves in this hall... or at least were. Jinnipher? I haven't seen her in a while. Last I heard she was dating my brother-in-law." "Oh, hey... uh... Hoke?" Karie was trying to remember if she'd ever spoken to the man sitting down. "I can't honestly remember if we've spoken or not. I've seen and heard of you, none the less."
-
"Agreed!" Karie exclaimed, grabbing mugs and various drinks off the bar and bringing them to the table. "Let's have another round tonight! To tomorrow!" "Honestly, not too much. I've just come back from a fields run, but even then I've got things going on with my family. Before that it was mainly loitering about the hall and working from home; raising my kid. Part of me's enjoyed the quiet, but this organization needs to get over this slump and move forward."
-
"I believe I've heard Nerwen's name pop up on occasion, but I've never met her, I don't think. If I did, it was briefly. I wasn't familiar with Guts, so I'll have to take your word for it. As for where power needs to be, I agree with you, one hundred percent. One group, like the Crescent Union or the Sungold Alliance, or Ulric cannot hold all the authority. I don't even think Heroica should have that authority. However, I do notice a certain "air" around people who seemingly only want the wealth and power that comes with being in Heroica. These people either need to get with the program, or move on. Whatever comes next, Heroica needs to think about where it's values lie: in acquiring personal power, or making a positive difference in this world. There's more to being in this organization than the wealth and prestige that come with it." Karie extends her arm out to Dyric, shaking his hand. "Arthur seemed to like you as well. If we're going to put Eubric on a path that leads to stability, we have to clean up Heroica as well. When Heroica thrives, so does this city. And, uh, thanks for letting me join this little group. It's nice being in good company."
-
Karie sits down next to Dyric and Monk Pretzel unannounced and unasked, uttering out a "'afternoon" as she did. She opens up her copy of the Eubric Herald and begins to filter through the pages. Karie lowers her paper and shakes her head. "You thought heroes who sold themselves out to the houses were heroes to rally around? There's your problem. They all sold themselves out for a shiny badge and a chance to win in a house war that was, as seen here, doomed to crumble." Karie replies, holding up her newspaper. "The Shadeux and the Ji Pei will want to distance themselves from the Guild of Invision, as will the Bonapartes and the Ziegfrieds from the Hinckwells. Ulfric... who knows what he's up to now that this news has broke. You want my opinion? Heroica needs to clean house. Let's get some new blood into the veteran's seats and let's wash away the house's influence over this place." Karie waved to Dyric calmly. "I know we've had our... disagreements in the past, Dyric, but I'm willing to bury the hatchet, so to speak. This stupid house feud is dead, and I was too stupid to see it's pettiness four years ago. I'm willing to move on if you are."

Pretty sure Flipz came out as trans a few weeks back, at least on the site.

I'd love to help out with a Roll20 version of Heroica... except I'm already DMing a D&D campaign on Roll20. My party's currently stuck between reef claws and pirates, and my party really badly wants to mutiny, which is good. I just now need to allow them to spring the mutiny at the proper time, as to not derail the campaign too much.

I too was getting flashbacks to Indy's fight with the German mechanic from Raiders during that scene. Glad I wasn't the only one who seemingly caught that!

Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory

Taking back her Medal of Valor and Sexy from Cedric, Karie cashes in her 50 glory points for five hundred gold. "We're in the money, we're in the money..." Karie hums to herself as she stockpiles her newly found coinage into her already bulging coin purse. "Well, it was fun while it lasted, gang. Don't spend your glory points in one place... or do, I don't really care, it's your money. Don't let me tell you what you can and cannot do!" -

I think we're going to be seeing more sets rereleased in an attempt to curtail Chinese knock off brands. Still, excellent news! The Taj Mahal is an excellent set, and it's great to see it brought back into the spotlight!
