  1. Karie scratches her chin, looking around. A potential lead and ally would be helpful, especially now. As the guardsmen and paladins barge in, Karie pockets the article, hoping to follow up on the lead later. She decided to speak about it outside the earshot of potential enemies. Karie felt like she knew the answer, but wanted to be sure just in case. "Who's on this Council for Peace and Prosperity? This is news to me." Karie swallowed her pride, drawing closer to the circle to avoid the guards talking. "Dyric, beggars cannot be choosers. At this point, I say we at least hear Ulfric out. He might be able to lend us some aid in exchange for his safe passage out of the city. I will not be complicit in a Wolfgang run city: Ulfric has proven himself far too willing to side with scrupulous people, but if he's willing to aid us, I say we take it if the price is right. I want that bastard dead for what he did to my sister, sending her to her death, but there are far more precious things in this city than my petty revenge." "That being said, I do want to investigate the tomb. It's our best lead, and it'll shed light on our predicament. I also think we should try getting in contact with the Oracle. If a group wants to head to the Temple of Fabula Sibylla, that might not be a bad place to investigate either. Either way, we don't have much time." "I'm not opposed to the Wolfgang's involvement at this point. I do not like the Wolfgang's involvement, but what choice do we have? If the Nornalis is gone, or broken, or whatever, we need to be on our guard. I wouldn't be surprised if a plot's already brewing to axe us off."
  2. As the paper’s being passed around, Karie scowls as she over hears the news. Everyone booted with no other word on it. Their achievements and deeds apparently meant nothing. Karie rest her guitar as she takes in a deep breath. Where do they go next? Her eyes catch a glimpse of the editorial on the second page, and swiftly grabs page six, looking for a name of the author of the piece.
  3. Karie flicks her guitar pick through her fingers. "Well, I'll see what I can do." She places 45 gold on the counter and began strumming on her guitar, playing a ballad of bravery.
  4. Karie leans on the bar. "Get me a mulled wine. How much will that cost?"
  5. Agreed. I think everyone's out of the Hall thread anyways that had things to tie up there. If a mod locked down the Hall thread, I honestly wouldn't have an issue.
  6. "Much obliged, friend." Karie nods her head in appreciation as she enters the establishment. Looking around, she pulls up a bar stool and begins to play on her guitar, tuning it as she plays. "Bartender, what have you got to drink?"
  7. Karie makes her way to the entrance of the Lady Luck's Locale, noticing the large bouncer. She takes off most of her weapons (including weapons she took out from her private locker back home, weapons she hadn't wielded in years) and handed them to the bouncer: all except for her Fine-tuned Guitar. She strums for the bouncer. "You need some entertainment? I can provide it for your establishment!" Karie grinned, putting on her best showman-like facade.
  8. "You want to test your claim in combat?" Karie questioned. "Why? Surely you'd have proof outside of combat that you are the Golden Dragon. I don't need to get walloped by you for you to prove that you're the Golden Dragon. I mean, anyone with enough martial prowess could probably do that." Karie crossed her arms, looking the Golden Dragon over. Something was off about all of this, Karie just couldn't figure out what. "It doesn't matter, though. I'm really not in any position to say anything to you. Best of luck with whatever it is your doing. You're going to need it." Karie chided calmly before turning to Dyric and Vindsval. "I'm heading to that tavern everyone else is bustling over to. Do what you two must. I'll see you guys there in a bit." Glaring at the trio of veterans standing near the doors one last time, Karie scoffed before heading to the Lady Luck's Locale.
  9. I don't have a particularly favourite film composer, but I forgot how much the score to Princess Mononoke really helps make that movie as special as it is. Also, Mars Attacks! has a wonderful score, despite the film being pretty mediocre.
  10. "Nothing others don't already know." Karie snarled. "See, that's the funny thing: I'm a pretty open book. You merely waltz in here, claimed to be the Golden Dragon, and then took over our hall. What's happening to Scheherazade while this so called investigation of yours is happening?"
  11. And just like that, Annienal's gone. I'm happy with where her story has ended. Maybe one day I'll return to it and see where Annienal's search for Warlen takes her, but it's not today.
  12. --- Annienal closes her eyes as Vindsval says his prayer. She nods to Vindsval after. "Well... I'm going now. I'm, uh... heading out of here. I'm, um..." Annienal sniffles. She laughs. "I'm going to miss you, Vindsval. I'll, um, try and write to you." Annienal wipes away her tears before speaking to Vindsval one last time. "Well, uh, I suppose this is goodbye, Vindsval- definitely not farewell though! Um... *ahem* see you around." Annienal bows to Vindsval before turning around. She looks down the steps of Heroica hall and begins to descend the steps. She did not know what would befall Heroica, or her friends there. She inhaled the cool winter air as she headed out to the street. "Hey." The pale faced woman called back to her. Annienal turned around as she looked back. "You're the girl Warlen liked, right?" She asked. Annienal nodded. She'd met Warlen? The pale faced woman grinned. "Don't let go of him once you find him. He's a keeper." Annienal was taken aback slightly by the woman's statement, but steeled herself and nodded confidently, gripping her fists. Looking down towards the harbour, Annienal went out into the world beyond Eubric Freeport with a newfound hope welling in her heart after what felt like years milling around the hall. Would she find Warlen? Would she fly as a dragon? Could she even fly as a dragon? She didn't know, but one thing she did know is that she could not do it while in Heroica. This was a journey she, for the time being, had to start by herself. For what felt like the first time in her life, Annienal Anavir embraced the unknown, unsure of where her journey would take her, and what she'd do on it. -Annienal Anavir Resigns from Heroica- Annienal Anavir (Kintobor)"20" year old elven female *Bonaparte Reputation* *Immune to Sudden Death, and Fragile. 13. Karie crosses her arms. "And who exactly are these forces that are underway in restoring this city?" Karie raises an eyebrow. She looked the veterans over with skepticism and doubt.
  14. Karie opens her mouth as Vindsval begins to speak with the white haired woman, his tone rising. She stands back to assess the situation at hand. Annienal readjusts her bags as she moves away from Vindsval. "Last I heard, there was an interest in heading to the Lady Luck's Locale in the Hovels, although I don't know why. Last time I was there it wasn't the most upstanding of establishments. "I, uh... I will. I'm going to go out and find Warlen... I... I, uh, I miss him. A lot." Annienal rubs the ring Warlen sent her for Grogmas a few years back, before he disappeared. She worried about him constantly, hoping he was alright.
  15. "I mean, I'm just confused, because I'm pretty sure the Veterans are, um... well, dead. As in they've been buried and their spirits sent forward." Annienal looks back at the waving woman with the pale make up. She always kind of weirded her out, with her outlandish look. "I don't know where the current Veterans went, but the Hinckwells have left town and Count Shadeux was last seen leaving his house in shackles. The Crescent Union and the Sungold Alliance have disbanded, and the houses are in ruins. I, um, also appreciate the sentiment Vind, going out together again on an adventure, but... well, um... I'm leaving. N-not forever of course! I'm just... not going to be around for awhile." Annienal looked Vindsval in the eyes as she proclaimed to him what she was doing.
  16. Annienal moves out of the way as people attempt to get past her and her large backpack on her back. Noticing the two new people approach her, she addresses them as well. "Well... uh, you see, some people showed up, claimed to be the Veterans- like the original Veterans, kicked out the Copper Fox, and then more or less took over the place. I, uh, would've done something, but, um..." Annienal pauses. "I, uh, went and hid in the library. Stole a few rare, limited edition books and some maps... don't tell anyone about the books and maps. Please." Annienal begins to shrink, avoiding eye contact with the trio in front of her. --- Karie waves to Vindsval dourly, her mood clearly souring.
  17. Collecting her belongings, along with a few books snagged from the library, Annienal ducks as a green fist slams gainst the wall. She beams with joy as she looks up to notice Vindsval as the one who's person is attached to the hand. "Oh, uh... Vindsval! It's good to see you! I, uh... well..." Annienal's joy soon depletes as she looks back at the emptying hall. "We, uh... got kicked out."
  18. Karie notices the commotion going on near the docks as Dyric draws her attention to it. She turns back to Sorrow and grabs a spare blanket, moving it over his body. "Give me a moment to inform the neighbour. I know some people who can handle this." Karie darts out of the house momentarily, making her way next-door. After a few minutes, Karie returns, her approach to the house signified as stairs to the porch creak. "Sorrow'll be moved to the cemetery, and his estate dealt with once we've figured out what's going on. Dyric. you ready?"
  19. I... wouldn't mind running a game in the future once Heroica wraps up, which will probably be in a few months. There's a few themes I had in mind, mainly a Star Wars theme or a Horror theme with Beetlejuice as the host. If anyone wanted to cohost it, I would love the assistance and second opinion, since I"m a little more green when it comes to Mafia. I've played on this site before on a few occasions, I simply don't have as much experience as some members of this forum have.
  20. Karie's eyes begin to swell as she begins to cry, her breath becoming heavy and short. She moves away from the bedside, breathing heavily for a few minutes, attempting to compose herself. She takes several deep breaths before standing up, her eyes not moving from the still corpse on the bed. "Dyric.." Karie turns to face him, looking distraught. Her attempts to wrestle her emotions were clear. "I'm going to arrange for a coroner to arrive. I'll meet up with you in a bit. I've... got to go over a couple of things. Thank you for coming with me. I appreciate it. Sincerely."
  21. "Hopefully we do meet again soon." Karie responds. A smile purses across her lips. "Not too soon, though. Sorrow, I'll stay with you until it's time. There's nothing left to worry about. I'm... not going to leave until you're gone." Karie's smile turns desperate looking as she begins to sway.
  22. Karie took in a deep breath. "I- I understand. You don't need to finish. And I will. She'll know about you and your adventures."
  23. "Of course." Karie said, looking at Sorrow. Her voice cracks. "I wouldn't dream otherwise."
  24. Karie turns around after being shook by the sound of knocking. "Dyric? It's unlocked. You can come in."
  25. "You did everyone thing in your power that you were capable of. I don't think anyone would ask any more, or any less of you Sorrow. I know I wouldn't. I'm happy enough just having met you, and at least knowing my past. Rachelle. I guess you never got to meet her. She's got red hair. Just like me."
