Karie's face goes blank before she grimaces. "Yes. Yes they are Heckz. And I do believe you stole 6 gold from me. Why should I toss this money your way when you've clearly showed me zero respect? The money will be distributed later. We have no use for it now anyways, and it may go to Hawke's family, if he has any."

OOC: Eh, not a lot of meat on a hawk. Karie turned a little red in the face, feeling slightly embarrassed for her assumption. "Oh... well, um... sorry to hear that. You'll have to excuse him. He doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut at times."

Heroica RPG- Quest #94: Go Now, In Peace
Kintobor replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
OOC: I doubt they'll be an update since I've got a lot of assignments due, but this will be a reminder that I'd appreciate it if you guys to post at least once a day so we can keep a consistent pace. We're almost done, so expect a big reveal tomorrow. -
OOC: Do I have Guineveire, or is the photo being deceiving? "Heckz, I know we're all curious as to what happened here, but please, lay it easy on Drucilla? Mrs. Eldritch, there is something you can assist us with, but I don't know if my comrades wish you to do it now or later. There is a section of the school covered in darkness. We've tried dispelling it ourselves, but Hawke thought your expertise would've come in handy. However, after Hawke... I understand you have a husband? I think it be best if we ask you to dispel the darkness, and then we ask you to go home." Karie rubs Noel's shoulder, attempting to comfort him. "Noel, it was you, Drucilla and Heckz that got us out of there. I didn't do a whole lot, honestly, so thank you. And you don't need to call me Miss Karie, alright? Karie will do fine. I ain't one of your teachers." Karie turned to Heckz. "Let's deal with these students now, Heckz. They've seen enough."

"The Wizard of Oz. We got stuck in the Wizard of Oz. At least, some bizarre hybrid of it..." Karie sat on one of the tables, looking around at the carnage. "Drucilla was cast as the Witch of the West. Me and Heckz convinced one of the protagonists, a young girl who wanted to go back to her home, to not kill the witch... but her companions... they killed her. They brutally butchered her and her little dog. Heckz, Noel, and Mrs. Eldritch managed to repel the... thing that the world around us turned into... but the vivid image of that girl's head being split open with an axe... I'm, sorry, I'm a little shaken is all."

Sol long as it's not "Master of wood, water, and hill", I have no issue. Freaking Tom Bombadil...

"No, no you're not. We're all angry about what just transpired. You did what you could, Sorrow, and no one's blaming you for what happened. I'm just... really shocked, is all."

"Um... Heckz, Sags's gone. Poof, disappeared, you know? She was a demon, so she naturally went where demons go, back to wherever it is they go." She noticed Noel might be a little shocked after what just transpired. She goes to him. "You holding up okay, Noel?"

Karie let out a sigh of relief as the book faded back to where it came from. "I wish it just dropped. I wanted to spit on the damn thing." Karie walks away from the group to examine the bodies, closing the eyelids on the two students before she reaches Hawke. "I knew you for all of an hour, and I already miss you." She closes his eyelids, taking everything off his person with the exception of his crossbow, and his hat. "Let's get the students home. Now. I don't want the students we have getting hurt. We also need to deal with our dead too."

No, but the quest with Shadeux rep has been green lit. I'm just waiting for Endgame's to ship off and Baltarok to return to run it.

I'll note I'm working on a one off, so anyone who wants to go on a small three person quest with a curious NPC should stick around the hall.

Althior rearranges the numbered tokens, remembering to put the five in the middle. The board doesn't light up, but the sound of a latch being undone echo's throughout the room, and metal plate falls of the doors. Both creak open, now ajar. Another set of stairs descend into the tomb, low chanting emits from wherever the stairs lead. Violet moves back over to the party. "I'm ready for this guys. Whatever's down there's going to meet the backside of my shovel for stealing my heart. I'm following you, so whenever you're ready, lets see who's behind all this..." -
I'm pretty sure the loaded die was an item Sandy had nerfed due to it being incredibly OP. He made it, though.

Anyone on 95: I hate to say this and do this, but I'll pay double the price for the Mask of the Gender-Swap. I really want that item!

Yes, and I usually regretted it afterwards. I understand where you're coming from, but I don't think any of us really want Heroica to turn into Dungeons and Dragons. Some characters just can't be persuaded, like in real life. However, I think QM's have heard your complaints, and I at least will make an effort towards including more scenarios where diplomacy can be used.
-
I think the role of a die is a much worse option than being able to have some leverage to the outcome of a skill. One could make the greatest counter points and arguments in the world to an opposing NPC and still botch it due to a die roll.

There has to be times where diplomacy won't work, and even backfires, since if that's the case and we give stats to diplomacy, then technically a party with a knight could get out of major battles. It makes the moments where it does work seem to matter. Giving diplomacy a stat seems less important than actually trying to persuade someone using roleplaying. If we give it a stat, who's to say someone can't just say: and then succeed. I don't care what the stats say, no one's going to listen to him. The effectiveness of diplomacy, intimidation, and promiscuity is also affected by how the character says it, and what actions they do, and who they're saying it to. Prince David seemed like a bit of a radical, so it seemed to me like nothing you did would have made him change his way. Just my thoughts.

Avalanche raises the hint coin into the air. Just as he does it falls out of his grip and lands to the floor, rolling away. The yeti seems a bit disheartened, but shortly thereafter he and the rest of the party hear a voice in their heads, for each member the voice was different, but familiar. For some it was those of past mentors, for others it was of individuals they respected greatly, each saying the same thing. "What lies before you is a Magic Square, a math puzzle where each vertical, diagonal, and horizontal line must equal the same answer. I'll start you off with a helpful hint: the number that goes in the central slot is five. Good luck." The voice disappears from their heads, but the party is one step closer to solving the puzzle. -
"Well, at least the fire's been put out. I can only heal one member of the party, and even then there's no guarantee I'm going to successfully heal them. I need to know who needs healed the most, since I'm leaning to Sorrow. Have a second action in case I bugger this up!"

"Someone deal with Drucilla! I've got this fire under wraps!" Karie tosses her Water Bomb at the fire.

No, I don't think anyone has. That would take a ridiculously long time, though.

Tons of ways. You could take a shot at the puzzle, use one of your hint coins, prepare for what's beyond the door, lots of stuff! Throlar wanders about, a little confused on the whole puzzle. Wandering about, he manages to find two gold coins laying on the floor. Althior and Avalanche have a go, but the entire plate lights up red on both attempts. "Did you guys consider the fact that the in Althior's first attempt, all the wrong numbers formed a diagonally line? Perhaps you guys need to focus on the horizontal, vertical, and diagonal lines?" -

OOC: Yup. The only ones you can't move are the 1 and the 2. Sorry, perhaps I should have been more clear. -
That didn't stop the party in 94 from healing Violet!
