Karie casts a disapproving glance at Lind. "It was nothing, just... a trick of the light, that's all."
-
Karie jumps at the sound of both men's voices. "Sheesh, can you two not try and spook me? I'm fine... perfectly fine. Just thought I saw something in the water." Karie mumbles, turning her attention back to the waters for a moment before turning back to the party.

Heroica RPG- Quest #137: Where the Dead Go to Live

Althior steps inside to find the store relatively well stocked in many items, including a few items he could tell looked regional. A pale woman turns to him, noticing his browsing. She seems less than thrilled. "Oh, customers. Joy. Welcome to the Last Chance Convenience and Goods. How may I help you?" She asked in a disinterested tone. Looking into the cauldron, Throlar found a rather large apple. However, it seemed rather rotten. The animal in question seemed to be a large mouse. It seemed less interested in the party and more into sniffing around on the ground for scraps. -
Karie shakes her head at the sight of "vending machines" in disgust, looking paranoid. "I'm sorry, but you're not getting me to buy anything from those... things." Karie turns to the pools, only to stare at nothingness in shock. She looked away, feeling increasing uncomfortable.

"Oh, no, I'm alright. I'll let you know if I need anything." Looking through the crates and barrels Vindsval finds nothing but rubble and broken planks, most likely from the ruins of the house above his head. Having apparently finished their work in the Residential District, the party makes their way to the Last Chance Connivence and Goods. Surprisingly, the building seemed much more recent. Flashing lights blinked around the entrance and the interior could be seen from inside. Unlike other areas they passed, the area around the store seemed to be relatively clean with the exception of an old pot and an oddly placed empty coffin. A bulgy-eyed man loitered around the front of the building. The establishment seemed to open. Journal Current Time: Afternoon Day: One Reputation: 1 Side Quests: -
"Pffft." Karie can't help but giggle as Lind tries explaining himself. "Oh, you're a riot, Lind." "Redheaded... I've met a brunette elf? With the freckles? She's the one you're with? Or are you looking to date her?" Karie winks. Karie bows towards Warlen. "Thank you! I appreciate the stroking of my ego!"
-
"Something similar. They can talk. Where did you fight this thing? That might help clarify what I'm talking about." Karie taps Warlen in the ribs her elbow lightly about his apparent love interest. "Their name's "mumble mumble mumble"? Must be rather forgettable." Karie remarks, still grinning in her mischievous mood. She trying to get a rise out of Warlen. "You're the kind of person who would find a puppet master about as endearing as his puppets." Karie retorted before waving her arms in order to signify Lind should stop. "Okay, look, stop, stop, stop. You had a chance for queuing yourself when you went headlong into a dragon's maw, now it's time you sat down and let someone who's qualified to yap do the yapping."Karie exclaimed, sounding irritated. She dusted herself off and looked towards the girl. "I'm sorry about him, he's compensating. My name is Karie, and these are my cohorts. We managed to use some magic to get here. Teleportation, sort of, if that makes sense. We've been hired to take care of Vorpalis. Is it possible you could lead us into town?"
-
"Progg. Big scorpion like creature, but not stupid." Karie states, making a pincer like motion with her hands. She gleams at Warlen mischievously as he blushes. "Come on, who is it?" Karie inquires, grinning.
-
"That was a pretty courageous thing you did there." Karie remarks, feeling guilty for potentially stirring up trauma. She takes a moment to take in everything Warlen said before responding. "Yeah, I've seen a party member get impaled and her soul sucked out by a psychopathic Progg. It's not something you ever forget, seeing carnage." Karie didn't like Erdathcath, but not even she deserved that. "Why don't I change the subject? You dating anyone? A crush? I don't judge."
-
And can it decapitate anything it crits?
-
Karie's eyes widened. She spoke to Warlen in a hushed voice, making sure the others didn't hear, particularly Fake Ears. "Okay, I meant more along the lines of stuff you've seen while with this organization, but... okay, I'm all ears."
-
Karie decides it best to stay out of the ensuing argument between Lind and Jinnipher, and turns to Warlen. "Soooo... got any interesting stories you'd like to share with me?"

"You don't need to be so loud!" Gretchin exclaims. "Anyways, here's a bar at the East Gates, and the Temple of Helvetia's nice, if a little gothic. There's not a whole lot here, to be honest." The shopkeeper simply snickers to himself, shaking his head. -

Gretchin shakes her head and shouts at Vind. "WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR YOU! YOU'll HAVE TO SPEAK UP!" -

Vindsvals waving was enough to get the woman's attention, but it still seemed like something didn't register with her. "Why are you waving your hands in front of me? Do you need something of me?" QM Note: I'll allow Vind to either stay here or head out to Last Chance, or something else entirely. -
I'm sorry if it feels that I'm pointing you out, but when you have to OOC ask someone if they need help explaining something involving your character's backstory, it's a sign of bad RP. You've done it a few times now, and it's awkward. You shouldn't out of character have to explain to others why a character does what they do. It should just be a natural progression of character. I'm fine if Lind believes that he's not fully in control of his own destiny. There's religions that believe that. It's the fact he had to ask someone if they needed help in understanding why he said that. I generally don't say something unless it irks me, and I try not to get angry, and I didn't mean to sound angry. Generally when I post here on in the QM Lounge, I do so the help others. This is what I'm getting at. I should just let other people explain my sentiments for me, because they generally do a better job than I do.

You shouldn't have to explain Lind's actions, because Lind's actions should speak for themselves. If you have some huge grand scheme for Lind, drop it. Character goals are different, since it's a goal a character is trying to achieve. These take time and effort to get. A character finding someone they've been meaning to talk to across quests, or getting into an Expert Class they've always wanted to is a character goal. Trying to plan Lind's whole story isn't. It feels cheap, and it feels forced, and having to explain how your race knows everything feels as if it cheapens the world, as if there's no more mystery left when there clearly is. At least, as someone who's been roleplaying for a few years, that's my opinion.

"I wish I was told this when I helped kill the prick." Karie shrugs. There was no getting through to this guy. Karie begins to observe her surroundings.
-
"You still could've prevented the deaths of hundreds, probably thousands of people." Karie comments.
-
Karie frowns. "Call him what you want, but if you're group is so almighty, why didn't you deal with him?"
-
"I used to know someone who thought it fun to interfere with timelines and stuff. Didn't end very well for him... or anyone who came in contact with him." Karie muses, sounding somber.
-
"Never been there myself, but yeah, I've heard of it. Why?" Karie looked skeptically at Charon.
-
Speaking of Baltarok, my next quest is the long-in-development hell Vault Arc Part 3: We're Finally Getting This Thing Moving. I'm hoping to do the Broken Tribes, since they were merely glanced over in the trilogy, and I hope to have it out shortly after 137.
-
"So your not technically welcome her?" Karie responds, looking around her nervously.

Annienal, noticing a lack of activity in the hall, signs up for Quest #140, hoping to get away from the demon summoning.
