I have some wife acceptability factor issues with my collection - occasionally she grumbles about the cat ornaments we can't display because I have Lego on every available horizontal display surface... No issues at all! Share away. Ooh, that'd be cool! I have a soft spot for the Raptor. I copied a minifig-scale design a while ago and have that sitting alongside a couple of minifig-scaled Vipers (Mark II and VII). That's on my awesomest shelf. Not sure how those links were encoded but they don't come through... Are they Google Photos links without the URL?

Good choice! I had to look that up as I didn't watch Crusade (or TBH much past S4 of B5... ) but that looks pretty menacing! You've got a good chance of making those angles work. What sort of scale are you going for? Good luck, please let me see what it turns out like! Will you need to make the rings bigger as well to stay in proportion? That might allow for a different structure, which I'd be curious to see - the original is a bit flimsy without the additional reinforcement in my Flickr stream (not in the LDD file). I think the internals in sections with the side-panels on are invisible - but you can peek through the gaps at the engine section so might want to avoid any colourbarf back there. Not a conscious choice - I just didn't check the parts palette to see if there was a suitable alternative... I actually just had a conversation with him the other day, after he commented on one of my Pegasus pics on Flickr. Eagerly waiting to see more than the teaser pic he currently has up.

Thanks! What are you thinking of building? I started on a Hyperion-class heavy cruiser but because of the compound curves and angles in the front sections couldn't get it to scale to the Agamemnon or Schwarzkopf, so I parked that idea... I'm also suffering designers block on a Battlestar Galactica scaled to my Pegasus. Curves appear to be my nemesis...

After a stupidly long delay, I finally built this thing in the brick. A tiny bit butt-heavy and a real pain in the rear to assemble, but I'm pretty happy how it turned out after all this time (started it in February). More in my Flickr album.

75529 and 75179 from ToysRus (Canada) with their 20% off plus an extra 15% friends & family deal coupon. Probably the only TLJ sets I'll bother with in this wave...

Thanks to @mortesv, @Cjd223 and @churcholo, I've pulled together something I think will look awesome on my shelf: This is just an LDD render (via Busufl) for now. I made a few tweaks, replaced the unavailable/rare parts, and integrated Churcholo's stands. Oh yeah. Thanks, guys!

I just bought an ASUS ROG GL702 laptop with a GeForce 1070gtx in it to replace my ageing MBP, but forgot about this driver issue. I've now got it, too. Grr. MortesV's Nebulon looks bad on my new laptop with everything dialled up. When LDD on my 6yo old 17" MBP can open the file without flat-out crashing (which is why I replaced it), it looks much nicer on that than on my new PC... Ah well, at least I can find the irony grimly amusing! I've used LDCad before when converting and cleaning up some files for rendering in POVRay, but I agree it's definitely a steep learning curve from LDD! Don't think I'm ready to start designing from scratch in LDCad, yet...

Impressive, most impressive! I downloaded your LXF file for the stands ages ago (thanks again for sharing!) but I only finally bought the actual instructions the other week - not working for a few months put the brakes on my Lego habit... Loving how that's working out in the brick for you so far! Can't wait to see how it looks when it's finished, so I'll know what mine will look like when I get to it.

Looks like a lot of awesome SNOT work involved in that - well done. I love this updated clean "modern" take on the YT-1300 - though not quite 100% on the TIE-like wings. They might grow on me... I'd love to see what sort of internal structure you've got underneath that beautiful exterior shell! Can you share any renders with "her" clothes off?

OoooOOOOoohhhh! Been waiting for an "official" version for a while. It's been great to see the creativity involved in the remakes, but I'm definitely keen to see what you guys come up with. Bring it on!- 129 replies

Beautiful as just a display model and playable with minifigs at the same time - major kudos for achieving both goals @Kit Bricksto! -

Sceptic +1. But willing to be wrong - guess we'll find out soon enough! OK, so there are modern parts on it and superficially some areas seem to be legit compared to the teasers and thoughts about new cockpit parts, etc. but it just doesn't seem different enough at the back to be a totally new Falcon design - it just looks tweaked. Unless all the magic is inside, I guess. Others have already mentioned the rear plates, but also, why would they use the old rigging parts again for the engine grilles when MOCcers have come up with (IMO) much better looking engines? I don't have one but I never liked the use of rigging parts as it looks like they need to be bent to match the curve - even though they used them in the original UCS MF, I'd have thought that was strictly speaking illegal... Not that I'm the judge & jury, of course!

What about 2x2 and 2x4 versions of part #15672 (alt. 92946) Slope 45 2 x 1 with 2/3 Cutout? And a corner 2x2 version kinda like part #3045 but with 2/3 cut-out in the studded corner? I can think of a few uses for those... Would anyone else use these?

MOC: Lego Ideas - Space Shuttle (Saturn V Scale)
manglegrat replied to KingsKnight's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Spotted this on Reddit a few mins ago - supported! I agree it looks much better proportioned than previous official versions. Good luck with this very well executed MOC. Other than stickers, etc. is it actually buildable with current brick colours? I'd be all over instructions or an LDD file for that if you ever want to release some...- 156 replies

[MOC] The GHOST from Star Wars: Rebels
manglegrat replied to DarthTwoShedsJackson's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah, Photobucket just hosed all their users by requiring you to pay $399 subscription to use external links to your pics hosted by them. I've just moved all my 360 renders (the only stuff I don't host on Flickr because they don't do animated gifs) to Google Photos and deleted my Photobucket account. They can shove it! Not a big deal for me as I only had like 20 pics there, but heavy users are really being hit bad. -
That's exactly what I was trying and failing to do in LDD... Cool, thanks - good to have another zero-gap low profile SNOT technique in the toolkit!
-
Cool. Thanks for the description of the technique. I can't get this to work in LDD but I think you're saying you used four #92593 plates in two pairs, one pair inverted and rotated at 90 degrees across other, with the smooth parts touching, right? Must give it a try in plastic sometime soon!
-
Yes, good catch, Nathan! They're #2903, "White Wheel 61.6mm D. x 13.6mm Motorcycle".
-
Thanks! I stuck with the two motorcycle wheels - which is heavier but the sag isn't really noticeable where it is up on the shelf (and it can be overcome by using a couple of slightly bent old axles that are inserted so they curve upwards against the weight )...
-
Thankyou sir! It's also known as Medium Stone Grey (e.g. on Lego's PickABrick site).
-
Nice! Very sleek, and love the colours. So how did you lock those upside-down sections in place?
