Looks cool. I'd be glad just to see Western sets again.

Very nice model, but I almost wonder if it looks a little too "stony"- IIRC the one in the film was made more of wood. Regardless though, it's great!

'Andy/Bugdroid the Android by Google' Reaches 10K on Cuusoo

I use and very much like Android, but I'm not that big a fan that I would buy a LEGO set of the logo character. -
Lego S@H complete collection bundle?
cortman replied to legomaniac83's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have every LOTR set except The Orc Forge and I'll have that within a month. I bought them all separately, mostly deals on ebay. Keep your eyes open and you can find better bargains on individual sets from various sellers. Also check multiple vendors- many offer a "first time customer" discount that can really help with the price. -
LEGO Display Shelves - Share Yours
cortman replied to Paul B Technic's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This topic caught my attention because I am in need of shelves to display my LEGO LOTR collection. I just assembled Helm's Deep last night and realized my current shelves (in a niche in the wall) aren't going to suffice, and besides they're already full of loose LEGO. I like the idea of using the (looks like) 1x3s for shelf cleats. -
Extremely impressed. I'd buy all of those sets. What's the piece count on Minas Tirith? $250 seems like an awful lot of money.

Exactly what I thought- that is the best LEGO representation of Treebeard I've seen yet. His face and long limbs are captured really well with the model! And the rest of the diorama is terrific as well!

Extra points for the landscaping- the water/earth/vegetation looks especially good!

Really cool! I'd love to Bricklink this sometime if you get parts count/instructions.

I ran across a number of these in a used lot I bought- I found that "Brakleen" or some other generic brake cleaner (strong stuff- don't use indoors) takes the marker right off with a paper towel, without damaging the brick. You can pick the stuff up in an aerosol can at Walmart or auto parts stores.

Nice job! Are you planning on making all the levels of Minas Tirith?

You do know that you keep silage in silos for the cows to eat, right? Lol.

Love this build! The color scheme is superb and very evocative of Art-deco and the '50's in general. If this would be an official set... oh my. :)

The piano is great, and the windshield really accurately mimics the sloped glass cases. Nice!

The tractor is terrific!

I've no more money for LEGO until March, but my Mines of Moria and Helm's Deep are arriving today, so that should help. :)

Very original build! I like the cheese wedges as feet on the spider mech.

Awesome haul- you lucky guy. :) Since it's so well organized/divided up I would be tempted to see if I could pick up original boxes for cheap somewhere to complete the set. Regardless, those are some great sets.

I got the MMV for Christmas and it's simply fantastic. Ridiculous piece value (1600 pieces for $90 (was what I paid for it)) and really great design.

I don't understand. Are you trying to lay out your opinion on what TLG's set strategy should be?

Got me a MISB Helm's Deep set ($105 w/free shipping)- best deal I've found on it yet. $25 off MSRP makes me happy. :) Also a Roman Emperor CMF ($5), one of the few in series 9 that I want, the Judge, Knight, and possibly the Cyclops being the others.

Wow- I'm amazed at how accurately it captures gorilla facial features and body. Terrific mech AND diorama!

Will we ever see true raised baseplates again?
cortman replied to super curry max's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The current trend seems to be to include NO baseplates at all, which I kind of miss. -
Dumb question- who votes?
