  1. In addition to that, is it IR or "radio"? If it is IR then... well... better not say that here... As for the AFOL involvement: they might have been involved but I can't believe they supported that system. Maybe it was just the train design...
  2. Those are annual numbers, not overall numbers. Nothing too overly optimistic, but certainly a good "sign".
  3. Funny that S@H is doing this survey... but anyhoo, here we go: If I had a webcam you'd see me jumping up and down in joy. Yes, definitely. How about some sort of "modular Main Street": one or two models of a house and maybe a store, in different colors (sand green!), that fit together and are stackable. Villas, restaurants, bus stops, taxis, schools, banks, supermarkets, post office, basically everything the 80s had in the new look. A new harbor sub theme maybe? Railway stations are always needed. Make it "extendable", though. Railway stations always come a bit too small. Make some small "value packs" to add to the station. Bridges I'm not really fond of, especially if they look like this year's. And while we're at it, if there really will be new City sets of whatever couleur, get a new design team before they start designing. This year's hospital is not a good reference. As gylman said, ask some AFOL builders and give em a free set or something - it'll pay off millionfold... Another thing: scale the cars down a bit. Current models are too big. I know that they are more in scale with the MFs but not everybody has their own loft to display their layout. Just a tiiiiny but smaller, please. Hmm... are we talking UCS? I haven't bought a UCS yet, too expensive and not my kind of models. Depends on how those World Buildings look in the end and what the pricing will be. The idea is ok. Umm... maybe the classic cars. Again, depends on how they look. Bring back Model Team! Uh... no. Planes were either too small (in the 80s) and now are too big. Unless someone comes up with a reeeeaally good design, no thanks. The classic planes we had so far didn't look too bad, though. I never got to buy me one but I liked them. oilrig... oilrig... I'll buy that in MF-scale, UCS, what-EVVVVA! *faint* *recover* An amusement park would also be nice. And a MF-scale zoo. I like the Duplo zoo. Something like that, with additional animal packs. Thanks for the survey!
  4. Looks like the EB-Is-Watching-You(r-Computer) script has a bug...
  5. Looks like they're havin' "a ball" (click me)
  6. SuvieD's right, I forgot about the batteries. Some cameras come with proprietary "Akku-Packs" - those cost a small fortune. So, check if the camera uses AAs. If you buy AAs, see that they are 2100+ mAh - anything below won't last long since digi-cams are power drainers...
  7. I'm not a master but I've been using a mid-range digi-cam for about 1 1/2 years now. From my experience I can say: - Is more expensive = better? Yes and no. More expensive usually means more megapixels which usually means better picture quality (read more below). - What does the increased amount of megapixels really do to the final resolution? It depends on what you want to do. If you just need small (1024x768) pics for your internet gallery cameras around 2-3 MP are way enough. If you'd like to print them or even have small posters made you need as many MP as you can get. The more MP the more information is stored in the picture and the better the printed result looks. But MPs are not the only factor that comes with picture quality. Many MPs don't help if the "converter chip" (dunno the technical term) is bad. That's that thing that actually converts what the lense sees into digital data. And there's some real crap out there. Also, the cheaper, the crappier. One important thing: forget digital zoom. All that counts is optical zoom. Digital zoom is like blowing up a picture on your PC - it gets blocky. Digital zoom does the exact same thing. - How do I know whether I have a good product concerning color-depth, contrast aso.? There are reviews available on the net. You won't get around reading them. - Any major manufacturers to be preferred/avoided (like I'd never buy a Sony product unless I really have to...) I have a Konica-Minolta. They shut down their camera business recently, though. But the classics that are popular among analogue photographers are also recommendable among digi-cams, so Canon, Fujifilm, Kodak, Konica-Minolta and the like... - Which memory-medium is preferred by experts? SD-cards any good? (at least they're widely in use...) SDs get increasingly popular. I use them myself and can't complain. They're not that expensive anymore and don't need much space, either. CF is also still popular. Slightly cheaper but bigger. Here's a pretty good site that helped me at the time I wanted to buy a camera: digitalkamera.de. Also, Steve's Digicams is quite good. It'll all come down to what you want to do. You won't find a camera that does it all. Not even the big-shots for tons of
  8. Every big(ger) company does that, it's nothing new... I use an IE add-on (Maxthon) and can view everything with it. I don't like the look-and-feel of FF and it needs too much of those extensions until it does what I want (and it can't do a few things maxthon can). So, FF is crap, Maxthon is decent, and my opinion is subjective, of course. I think we should leave it at that and don't get off-topic too much, though
  9. Mhm.
  10. For all those with a little black humour: PS: Happy Valentine's to all the girls here
  11. Found a small mod of the fire truck: (click me) I like the "4 barrel water gun"
  12. Thx. Does it cost anything extra?
  13. WHOA  Darnit, I like a playmo line...
  14. So much for "decent browser"
  15. First post in this thread: * first link, "City" * second link, third subfolder
  16. If you like this, you might like this, too: (click me)
  17. City Crane (probably two) not sure about the Airport already got Ambulance and Airport Firetruck Creator 4895 Helicopter 4896 Black car maybe one or two sets for parts, depends on my mood Technic I guess I will get me one or two Technic sets again. It all depends on the prices, though. 8283 Telehandler looks interesting, also that gear/motor on that picture 8288 Crane 8289 Firetruck I'm not sure about the Tow Truck. Doesn't look as cool as the Black Cat. Depends on how much money I have left. Racers I must admit I have never paid much attention to them but the new small ones look cool. I'll probably get all of them, even if just for parts. Mindstorm Not sure if I'll get into that. Will see when it's out. That'd be all, I guess...
  18. Use a decent browser
  19. I like the truck. I like the car also, reminds me of those "Holiday Town sets" from the 80s. And both are very City-esque, so me likey anyway
  20. I guess because TLG/C puts too much emphasis on the ability of "spherical building". I read somewhere that one must have "3D-thinking" and the ability to put it into a model to qualify for a job at TLG/C. Well, for trucks/cars etc. you don't need that. And so the designers come up with elevated hospitals so they have some 3D-part in it, even if it's a grosse baseplate and not really a "spherical build"... Just my $0.02... The cement mixer is great...
  21. I've been wondering, too. To me the motor on the ICE engine looks like a standard 9V motor. Even if it isn't, it looks like it has the same dimensions, so I'm guessing you can just switch 'em...
  22. I don't like the 4565 that much but I agree on the long cargo train. For me, all the "necessary" models already exist, though: the BNSF and the TTX car. The TTX is an easy build so it's not that difficult to add different colors.
  23. Yes, please.
  24. *mpf* I feared so, I didn't hope so, but it came true: tracks do come in 16-packs - but with straights and curves in one pack. Understandable from TLG's selling point of view, but unnerving from a train fan's point of view. Tracks are finally cheaper but you still end up with tons of useless curves... Dreaded curves in a straight pack *grml*
  25. According to the description it is: 4. special transport waggon for explosives/ammunition and other HAZMAT 7. train/transport guard waggon 8. track vehicle for air surveillance As for the Crocodiles - yes, they were "cargo locs" and only came in brown and green.
