  1. It does have sails: those big chunks across the masts are rolled-up sails. They just couldn't set them 'cos they don't have rigging yet... I think...

    Carnival!!!!

Hide. I grew up in Austria's most famous carnival city, Villach. Oddly enough I've never been a fan of that tradition. Also, there's an annual carnival meeting from Villach broadcasted on TV, which was good back in the 70s, early 80s, but for quite some time has been cr@p, and I can't stand it anymore. So, to me that "season" simply doesn't exist. Your costumes are pretty good, though
  3. Huh... guess how I'm feeling... *wacko* ... I'm leaning towards 7760, though... then again, there's 10133... hm, oh well, I'll decide later... Quick question: since there's no 10 items per poll limit anymore, any reason why 7810 isn't on the list?
  4. Here, too. I think it's time to merge two threads
  5. Happy birthday! Happy birthday! Happy birthday!
  6. Cute sets. You forgot the mini speed boat 7610
  7. Nice. As far as I remember the movie it looks like an exact "replica" of the scene
  8. Yesterday I found Don Winslow's BNSF Gallery while doing some "research" on American locomotives. And I love this gallery! Just look at this: (Thumbs clickable) The trains in the middle pic look like a model railroad, don't they? After seeing those pics I had to vote for American trains in the poll  If you navigate "up" in the gallery you'll find galleries of other trains (SF, UP...) and also some non train pictures ("Ghost Towns" for Brickster!).
  9. Doesn't look as bad as on the catalog pictures. But doesn't look that good, either. No buy for me...
  10. According to jon's first post we get a 2 day pass for
  11. It's not stored automatically. Below the text field you must check the option "Add a copy of this message to my sent items folder". hth
  12. I haven't done much in the past year with my layout, so 10 days is nothing. Not many new pics isn't an indication, I think. Maybe he's just too lazy to take pics. Or he's waiting for tons of BL orders with those light blue MF legs...
  13. I forgive him
  14. Umm... wasn't that a bit harsh, dear admins? I mean, what about those who post their websites in their signatures? They more or less advertise in every post. Not everybody reads every intro thread so gerkenz just took the possibility to present his models in the appropriate forum. He didn't even start a new thread... Geez, lighten up... :glare:

    Pl@m0b1l Town

I have a confession to make: Yesterday I bought 2 of 4415 and 4416 each at a local TRU. On my way out I saw the 2006 Pl@ym0b1l catalog - and took one with me. I wanted to see what the Evil Empire had to offer this year. Back home I browsed through the catalog with a drooling mouth - THAT'S what I call a Town theme! Yes, Pl@ym0b1l doesn't have licenses and doesn't cover that broad a product spectrum as LEGO (no Technic and the like) since it's "just" a play toy. But what they do with the Town theme is great, IMHO. The only "license" they have seems to be that of "Deutsche Post/DHL" since they use their logo for the mail/post office sub theme (yes, they have one). Their town just offers everything you want, and even a few smaller unusual sub themes (forest rangers for example), and the hospital looks like one! A few things I noticed: the airport, plane, crane and firestation remind me of... hmm... what was it... oh, yeah, LEGO I can understand why Pl@ym0b1l's still popular - among Town fans, that is. Adding to that they still have a Pirate and now even Roman theme. Not easy to catch up... Only disadvantages (and what keeps me from buying it): the models need a LOT of space, and there's absolutely no MOCing possibility (not that I'm that a big MOCer, just now and then I change a few things with a model). Other than that you can set up a great looking Town/Train layout. TLG - steal some!
  16. Mmmmmmmmh The blue Nevada Southern Railway somehow reminds me of 7760 Shunter Engine. Unfortunately I never got one and now they achieve insane prices on ebay and BL... I've never been a big steam engine fan but they always look good in real.
  17. I love his Longstreet
  18. Like he does it here again:
  19. "Unfortunately" I have to say that I can't decide :glare: I absolutely love the 7740 and think it's the best ever LEGO train. When it was on the market my parents couldn't afford it, so I still don't own one. On the other hand I also like the SF and the BNSF with the TTX waggon. I think those big, "heavy" American engines with 200 intermodal waggons look great when they make their way through the American west. I grew up across a train station here in Austria, so I guess I have seen enough of European trains. If there's an interesting design I'm still interested, though
  20. I've noticed that, too. Problem with watching and then trying is that that theme might not be so popular anymore. It seems TLG isn't willing to take "risks" (Galidor anyone?) like Playmobil seems to, or they just don't trust their consultants that much anymore (Galidor anyone?)...
  21. What I meant was that a pack of 16 tracks (8 straights and 8 curves) will cost the same as an 8-pack does now. So you get twice the amount of tracks for the current price. You just have to get both straights and curves in one pack, that's what bothers me most...
  22. Expansion packs will come as 16-packs: 8 straight and 8 curves. You can see them on the toyfair pics. On 1000steine.com I read a post by Jan Beyer (can't find it right now) that the price will be the same as now. So, again, more pieces, same price. It's ok, I guess, I would've liked to see 16 straights and 16 curves sold seperately, though, but I guess curves just don't sell so well...
  23. The trains were supposed to be cheaper, because of plastic-only track and a new R/C system. Now they pack more pieces into the sets and the prices are almost the same: US$ 80 for the Passenger Train compared to US$ 89.99 for 4511 and US$ 150 compared to US$ 139.99 for 4512. More pieces is nice (and makes a lower per-piece price) but is that really a price to start with LEGO trains? Doesn't it contradict the original goal? Or was that the goal from the beginning? Somehow I'm feeling mocked...
  24. Prices Most likely add a few % for Europe...
